Exotic Is Not The Way To Go Owning an exotic animal, what fun! At least that is what you think. Owning an exotic animal although it has its perks it is really not as fun as you think. If you weigh the goo d with the bad there are more reasons not to own an exotic animal than there is to own an exotic animal. So it would be better to just leave the exotic animals at the zoo and let the perfessionals handle them.
Owning extoic animals like i said can be fun, like owing and chimpanzee until your stuck with him your whole life. You love him with all your heart but you just can’t aford his food anymore, now wouldn’t that be a terrible situation. That actually happens a lot with exotic animal owners. Any animal you own cost quite a bit of money to raise but exotic need even more than domesticated animals. They need bigger cages, free land to rom, a lot more food, frequent visits to the vet and affection. Many exotic pet owners end up being unable to provide the proper living environment for their fully grown pets. In order to prevent them from injuring anyone, they may

They are also adorable and make you just want to hug and kiss them all over. Politicians and lobbyists use false and misleading claims to pass laws against exotic animal ownership (“REXANO Proves that Politicians…”). People say that they are very dangerous and they are but with proper care and training they can be tamed. In the last 10-16 years, 1.5 people on average gets killed yearly by captive reptile, 1 by captive big cat, 0.81 by captive elephant, 0.125 by captive bear (“REXANO Proves that Politicians…”). There is many videos and stories were the little child fell into a zoo exhibit and the animal helped them in a cute way. Now if a child falls into their exhibit which is their teratory they would be lucky to servive because everyone knows if you enter a wild animals teritory they are going to defend
People who keep exotic animals as pets do not realize the danger they are putting on the animals or themselves. There have been around 2,000 incidents involving captive exotic pets that have been reported and 75 reported deaths between the years of 1990
However, exotic animals also bring additional dangers with them, like diseases. “Exotic pets can also spread diseases to humans,” (Lewis 104). Lewis meant that in addition to the normal threats exotic animals pose, like deadly attacks, or unpredictable behavior, the diseases they could carry should be of concern. Those diseases could be extremely rare, but also extremely harmful. They have the potential to spread not just to the owners of the exotic animals, but also to the people around them, like family members or fellow members of their community. Those diseases have the potential to be life threatening, or even lethal. “Reptiles can carry salmonella bacteria, and monkeys can carry the herpes B unis, both which can be deadly in humans,” ( Rettner amp.livescience.com). Just a little scratch, a terrible bite, or even a nub from an exotic animal can transfer disease. It’s best to stick with domesticated
Owning exotic animals is both cruel to the animal its self and dangerous to those who care for the animals. Keeping exotic animals as pets is cruel. In the article Do You Really Want a Baby Tiger? by Mia Lewis the author states “The end result is that far too many of these exotic animals spend almost their entire lives in the ‘prison’ of a small cage.” Obviously, exotic animals are meant to be in environments that promote their natural behavior; forcing these animals to be locked up in a small pen
While domesticated pets like dogs and cats make good pets many people want to own exotic animals that belong in the wild. These animals range from tigers to pythons, but should not be owned as they need special care most people cannot provide. Not only this, but exotic animals release is harmful for everyone, the exotic animal, humans, and native animals. Lastly, many exotic animals carry diseases that are harmless to them, but fatal to humans. Exotic “pets” are harmful for everyone, not just the pet. This is why people should not be able to own exotic pets.
Every child has asked their parents for a pet animal. The thing is though, is what type of animal they asked for. Such as a dog or cat and even the occasional hippopotamus for Christmas, right? Lots of people buy exotic animals not knowing how much work it really takes to take care of them. For example, many people have bought pythons and when they get to a size where they can’t keep care of them they let them go into the wild. Exotic animals are very costly and time consuming, they grow up and get bigger and all in all they are very dangerous.
How many people think it is okay to have an exotic animal as a pet? People do not care about the responsibilities that come with owning an exotic pet when they get a wild animal. There are many positives and negatives regarding owning exotic pets, but the negatives outweigh the positives greatly. Keeping these animals in captivity is not only harmful to others but harmful to the animal. When treated as pets these animals grow into adults and act aggressively to others around them, spread diseases, and enclosures cost a great amount and have to be created by professionals the majority of the time.
To begin with, exotic animals should be banned from society because they are unpredictable. People tend to not want exotic animals due to their natural and wild instincts. One may never be able to predict a wild animal’s next move because “a wild animal is never one hundred percent predictable” (Lewis 41-42). This implies that these dangerous pets can make any wrong move at any time because these animal have not been domesticated. Also, one may keep them in a cage due to “exotic animals can injure
Danger, danger! Animals are cute, but not all are domesticated to own as pets. Dogs are a man’s best friend, people suggest cats are an old lonely lady’s answer to everything, and everyone has a dream to own a tiger or lion. However, people should not be allowed to own exotic animals as pets. Owning exotic animals can cause an endangerment to the animal, an endangerment to the owner, and an endangerment to the community.
Exotic animals belong in the wild because the reason they are exotic is because they cannot be tamed like any other pet, and if they can’t be tamed, they can become a harm to the owner and to others that the animal feel threatened by. Injury and possibly death is likely to happen under such circumstances of the animals being neglected. Another reason why I believe that exotic animals do not belong under human captivity as pets is because it is harmful to the pets and the nature of them. Some animals need their families to survive and they also need to learn to hunt in order for them to survive. Once an exotic animal becomes the pet of someone, it becomes dependent which is unhealthy for the animal, especially if they are brought under captivity at such an early age. Owning exotic animals as keeping them as pets should be illegal is what I believe is right.
With regard to keeping a pet, any animal can be mistreated and could possibly be a danger to their owner, but exotic pets present some unique dangers to their owners in terms of creating some
As it is says in the article, Here’s Why Exotic Animals Belong in the Wild, Not as “Pets” in Our Backyards, “Once the animals reach sexual maturity they’re often relegated to small outdoor (or indoor) enclosures where the extent of their interaction with any other living being is when they’re fed. This leads the animals to become incredibly frustrated, not to mention bored and they often begin to exhibit stereotypic behaviors such as pacing or self-mutilation, indicative of their extreme mental distress.” This means that sometimes they get mad and bored and are not themselves, when they are kept houses and backyards. Then, that could lead to them doing something unexpected, or not mention very horrid. It's just that we, or humans are not the right care takers for exotic animals. They need to be with their kind, in their natural habitat. In addition, in the article, Should Wild Animals Be Kept as Pets?, it quotes, “The Humane Society of the United States strongly opposes keeping wild animals as pets. This principle applies to both native and nonnative species, whether caught in the wild or bred in captivity. The overwhelming majority of people who obtain these animals are unable to provide the care they require.”This is telling me, that other people agree that humans are not able to care for exotic animals. They need to be let free and live in their natural
The United States has many laws against owning exotic animals, yet people do it anyway. It’s said to be a multi-billion dollar industry second in line to the distribution of drugs and weapons on the black market. The amount of money in the United States alone made is fifteen billion dollars. With the help of the internet and trade magazines it makes it easier for breeders and dealers to get business. Millions of animals are forced into exotic animal trades because of the government and their laws against it. People wouldn’t act so poorly to the animals if the government allowed some exotic animals to be attained.
To start, exotic animals could get very sick and die from fatality in captivity. According to the article “Get the Facts: The Danger of Keeping Exotic Pets,” “When in the hands of private individuals the animals suffer due to poor care.” This is significant because it shows how cruel and dangerous it is to
When was there a time for you to want a pet so bad to have an exotic pet, there have been numerous of people around the world to want that. Over one billion of people were to want that but think again. When there are to have exotic pets in an unusual habitat it is to not last as long as others. Over billions of exotic animals are to die in a year but if not two years to be. As for a doctor to do an experiment in the lab in the usa in 2010, there was to be a discovery of a diesieve with the exotic animals, sure they may just be animals but exotic animals are called exotic for a reason. There was a girl name tracy with her pet animals a lion that was to kill there own owner happening it 2016. Exotic animals are not to be controlled, yes sending
The average civilian does not have the time or resources required to humanely keep a exotic pet. Although most exotic animals are bought and sold while they are young eventually they will mature and become very large. Many people end up releasing their exotic animals when they become full grown because they become incapable of caring for the animal. If the animals are kept, they are often kept in cruel cages where they are neglected. Mia Lewis states “ In this environment they have no opportunity to practice most of their natural behaviors.” (pg 7 p 3). Exotic animals are not able to freely hunt and breed when kept in cages. The ownership of exotic animals is very
