1.1 History of Christianity
Christianity is the religion based on the life, death and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, also known as the Christ or Messiah. Jesus was a Jewish teacher and prophet who lived in Palestine in the first century CE. He revealed himself to be the Son of God in fulfillment of Hebrew scripture, and taught that the Kingdom of God was imminent, bringing with it forgiveness and new life for all who believed. His claim to be the Messiah roused opposition from religious and political authorities and he was imprisoned and crucified. His followers believe that after his death, Jesus was resurrected before being taken up to heaven.

Chapter 2: The Worship Service
2.1 The Songs
Worship comes in different forms depending on how the church wants the service to proceed. For the Amazing Grace Church, the service began with the congregation singing a number of worship songs to the Lord that lasted for about an hour. Christian praise and worship by music, and in fact, music is a great tool for helping them feel closer to God. Music is an emotional language because it effectively affects their emotions and the lyrics can swell their hearts. There is nothing bigger and greater than the grace of God that is delivered to them from condemnation through the sacrifice of his own Son. Thus, Christian chooses to praise and worship Him by singing. While singing, the congregation stands on their feet and they seem to be affected by the songs in some way as they raise their hands as a sign of accepting the Lord into their hearts. The emotion that was thrown from the congregation was very distinctive to us as we could see that the songs are an important tool of expression. According to the pastor of the Amazing Grace Church, singing let the people focus on the worship, helps them respond to God’s grace and also guide them to reflect on God’s glory. In his opinion, singing mean nothing if people do not respond to what they have sang and related it to God and reflect it to make them better believers.
2.2 Body Gestures
As the hour long worship session was proceeding, we noticed that most of the
So, what exactly is Christianity? Christianity is the religion based on the person and the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth or its beliefs and practices.
Christianity Christianity is the history of the Christian religion and church, from Jesus and his apostles to our times. It is a monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of the lord Jesus Christ. The history of Christianity is focussed on the life, death and resurrection of one person, Jesus Christ, the son of God. It is founded by Jesus Christ. He was the figurehead.
Jesus Christ is believed to be the son of God and is considered the human version of God. Christianity also believes in the Holy Spirit, which is with us always in everything we do. The Christian faith is based on the belief that Jesus was born in a manger of the virgin Mary. It is believed that he lived a perfect life where he made no mistakes or sins. Jesus was believed to have died on a cross for our sins while being spat upon and cursed with a crown of thorns upon his head. Next, Jesus was buried in a tomb and rose from the dead three days later. Finally, Jesus descended into heaven to be with his father once again. Christians believe that in order to achieve eternal life you must accept Jesus into your life by believing that all this information is true and you must ask for forgiveness of your sins. Christians believe that Jesus will return one day to earth and will judge everyone and will take all Christians back to heaven with him to be with his father God. Christianity began to take off in Ancient Rome because of St. Paul. Paul began by creating churches in Asia Minor and Greece. He later began to take his teachings to ancient Rome. The poor people in ancient Rome began to believe in Christianity first. Christianity was illegal in Ancient Rome. If followers were caught by Rome they faced death for their actions. Therefore, Christians had to meet in secret so they were not killed for their beliefs. In 313 AD the Emperor Constantine, finally
Christianity began with Jesus who was born in Bethlehem, Nazareth. Throughout his life, he emphasizes brotherhood in his teachings denouncing violence and selfishness. However, Jesus teachings were not accepted by the Jews as he was not considered to be a messiah, even though they were derived from Jewish traditions. He was arrested and trialed which resulted in crucifixion, a historical method of capital punishment in which the victim is tied or nailed to a large wooden beam and left to hang for several days until eventual death from exhaustion and asphyxiation. After 3 days he rose from the dead and spent 40 days on Earth before ascending to Heaven establishing the foundations for the Christian Church.
Jonathan Kozol's Amazing Grace is a book about the trials and tribulations of everyday life for a group of children who live in the poorest congressional district of the United States, the South Bronx. Their lives may seem extraordinary to us, but to them, they are just as normal as everyone else. What is normal? For the children of the South Bronx, living with the pollution, the sickness, the drugs, and the violence is the only way of life many of them have ever known.
Using the themes we have examined in this course discuss the situation of the children in Jonathan Kozol's Amazing Grace. Who defines them as 'other'? How? What makes them feel like 'nobodies'? What makes them feel like 'somebodies'? What is the role of religion in this daily struggle for human dignity?
David Beck says, “To minister means to love and care for others. It means to attend to their spiritual needs. Put simply it means to do what the Savior would do if he were here.” It is truly an honor and a privilege to be able to serve in ministry. Being called to serve is not something I take for granted because life is too short and what you do in the time God has given to us is important. I would like to reflect on the ministry assignments I have been given over the past few months and talk about the goals that were completed. I will also look at how the site supervisor assisted me in achieving the goals, the difficult part of the journey, the different plenary sessions and what I learned from this experience.
The religion of Christianity is one of the prevalent forms of religion, and it is most widely spread. There are over three billion followers and has many sects around the world. While each sect has different customs, all Christians believe that there is only one God and creator of the universe. Within this God, there is God the father (creator of the universe), God the Son (Jesus or Christ, the Messiah), and God the Holy Spirit (The actual presence of God that is in us or around us but is not visually apparent). The people of this religion believe Jesus, born of a virgin mother, and died on the cross for our sins, and resurrected three days later. Followers of Christ believe that Christ was God’s son and the true Messiah, sent to earth to free us from our sins through salvation. Achievement of Salvation by believing in Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. When a person reaches salvation, they are safe from the grasp Hell and will spend their afterlife in heaven with God. The Holy Bible, a book created by Jesus’s followers, explains Jesus’s life and teachings. All Christians believe the Holy
Jesus Christ is the main root of Christianity. Yet, some do not know that Jesus was not Christian himself; He was Jewish. However, he broke away from certain Jewish traditions in order to preach the word of God. After Jesus death, many of his followers, such as Paul, carried on with his teachings.
Christianity is a monotheistic (believing in one God) religion, which is based on the “teachings of Jesus.” Deemed the son of God, Jesus walked around town helping those in need and preaching the words of his father, served as a role model, exemplifying to others how to live life selflessly. His life was short lived, “at the age 33, he was crucified on the cross.” Christians believe that God sacrificed his only son for the forgiveness of their own sins, which they give thanks for throughout the year at Christmas, Lent, and Easter. One of the most prominent figures in the Christian church is the cross. The most important book in Christianity is the Bible, which they consider sacred and holy. It is a doctrine that holds all Jesus’s teachings, which have been broken up into 2 parts: “old testament and new testament.” In the Bible, individuals will find a set of guidelines (10
Christianity is one of the most influential religions on both ancient and modern Western society, with the religion based on the teachings of the prophet Jesus Christ who lived approximately between the years of 5 BC and 33 AD. It is claimed that Christ was the son of God whose spirit was embodied and sent to Earth as a human being to bring peace and prosperity to the less fortunate, and absolve the world of its sin. Jesus preached a doctrine of a supreme monotheistic god who ruled over the universe, as well as ethics and morals especially centred on the concept of faith and forgiveness. If one was to live their life in accordance to the Will of God and the teachings of Christ found in the written word of the Holy Bible, one would be absolved of their sin and ascend to the spiritual realm of God, known as Heaven, after their physical death.
Jesus Christ is the central figure of Christianity, the only way of salvation and the second person of the Trinity. (Funk & Wagnalls, 2015) The Gospels Matthew and Luke introduce the birth and childhood of God’s one and only Son, Jesus. His story began when the Angel Gabriel visited His virgin mother, announcing that she would give birth to a son, and that she was to call Him Jesus, for He would be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:30-35) The incarnation of the Messiah, was the Word
When the service started it began with prayer, during the service there were moments of prayer, and the service ended with prayer. Something that I found very entertaining was the form of worship that they used which was singing. They sang a lot of different songs that worshiped God. You could tell who went to church a lot because they knew all the songs by heart. For those like me that didn’t know the songs, the words were projected on to the wall so you could sing along with everyone else. There was also a live band that played the music to sing to. This part of the service was really entertaining to me and I really enjoyed it.

Christianity is the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Most followers of Christianity, called Christians, are members of one of three major groups--Roman Catholic, Protestant, or Eastern Orthodox. These groups have different beliefs about Jesus and His teachings. But all consider Jesus central to their religion. Most Christians believe God sent Jesus into the world as the Savior. Christianity teaches that humanity can achieve salvation through Jesus.
