Communication is very important in order to express needs and emotions. There are two types of communication, verbal and non-verbal, both of which are important in understanding and supporting someone.
Explain how people from different backgrounds may use and/ or interpret communication methods in different ways
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the use distinctive characteristic of interpersonal communication. In the movie You’ve Got Mail, it tells a story of two bookstore owners who were enemies. But when they anonymously met online, they fell in love with each other. The movie You’ve Got Mail portrays interpersonal relationship. Interpersonal relationships are between two or more people. Through out the paper, there are five different interpersonal relationships, for example, identity, emotions, nonverbal communication, listening and communication.
This report explores the three genres of communication within the major of veterinary technology. Its purpose is to inform individuals about how these specific genres are present in this field. Methods, results, discussion and conclusions are discussed. To research these three genres of communication several sources were required. I initiated my researching with internet searches to find more information to support why these three genres of communication are the most significant in the field of veterinary technology.
Edmondson (2009) discusses four different basic communication styles. The first style is expressive which have a tendency to speak quickly, focus on the big picture, and have a high energy level. They can be perceived as unpredictable, vain, or excessively jovial. Next are systematic who tend to focus on small details, not on the larger picture, and try to avoid conflicts. The third type listed is sympathetic. These individuals focus on people and relationships. They are good listeners and so concern for everyone’s needs. Sympathetics also do not like be at odds with others. Lastly, the fourth communication style identified is directs who generally keep dialogue short and are perceived as a multitaskers. The study recommends that the individual discover her own communication style and adjust the style according to the situation.
During this report the author will analyse the types of communication skills that were used during the course of the video and proceed to talk about the importance of communication. The video consists of Andy Murray being interviewed by Jonathan Ross about his recent win of a tennis competition. Using Heron’s six categories of intervention (2001) the interview would be seen as facilitative as the interviewer is helping to build the interviewees confidence by focusing purely on his success. Ross kept praising Andy throughout the interview which suggests that he was being supportive (Centre Point Intervention, 2009)
I communicate in a very practical, concise way. Give me the facts, make it simple and I will happily receive your communication. I once worked with an individual who did not appreciate facts or concise conversations. She preferred large, sweeping hand gestures, flowery stories and lengthy conversation to communicate a concept. She and I have very different communication styles. I quickly learned that if I used my concise techniques, she did not understand nor appreciate the conversation. If I wanted to effectively communicate with her, I had to adopt her style, tempo and verbosity. Once I adopted this method,

As a part of my assignment to identify the styles and different skills of communication by studying Brian Krzanich actions and behaviour. Next part is to perform a critical analysis on the identified communication styles and skills by comparing and contrasting strength, weakness of a selected person.
The group discussed verbal vs non-verbal communication, and took a paper-base, multiple choice test to determine their dominant communication styles. Communication styles: passive, passive aggressive, aggressive, and assertive, were then discussed while reviewing test scores.
The author will analyse scenario 5 (appendix a) as he has no practical experience of Do Not Resuscitate Orders (DNAR) and believes this is an excellent opportunity to professionally develop himself in order to improve future patient care. This assignment will reflect, in relation to paramedic practice, on legal, professional and ethical frameworks whilst also considering interpersonal communication theories that impact on the delivery of care. Two of the most prevalent forms of communication styles are direct and indirect communication; these two communication styles impact how members of a culture interact with each other (Morreale & Pearson, 2008). According to Craddock (2002), Kierkegaard, regarded direct communication, “as the mode for transferring information and considered it totally appropriate to the fields of history, science, and related disciplines” (p. 70). Direct communication can be defined as, “speech that specifically states and directs an action. When someone hears direct speech, they know immediately what needs to be done. There is no question about who is in charge, and usually no need for discussion” (Gaddis, 2006, p. 11). On the other hand, Kiergaard believed that, “the indirect was the mode for eliciting capability and action from within the listener, a transaction that did not occur by giving the hearer some information” (Craddock, 2002, p. 70). Unlike direct communication, “a indirect style of speech is not typically authoritative, rather it encourages input from the listener” (Gaddis, 2006, p. 11).
