Because of safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teens can begin to drive. Virginia's legislature is considering raising the minimum driving age from sixteen to eighteen. I do not believe the age should be increased because teeneagers benefit greatly from driving at the at the age of sixteen. Driving is a necessity for many young adults to maneuver from location to location as they become older with more responsibility. Many adults assume students lack the ability to make appropriate choices while driving, but this is not the case. Having a driver's license at the age of sixteen allows young adults to gain experience, lets them become more independent, and encourages responsibility.
Fifty-eight percent of sixteen year olds are more likely to have an accident in their first year of driving.Because of safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teens can begin to drive. The age limit for driving should be raised from sixteen to eighteen because sixteen year olds are more likely to be immature and a change in age limit would lead to much safer roads.
I think they should not raise the driving age 16 to 18 because some students have jobs. If you raise the driving 16 to 18 then the parents will have to drive there student to work and that should not be the parents responsiblity to have to drive them back home and back to work everyday. If there parents are having money problems the student cant help them out if he cant get to work and back.
Vroom, vroom! The first time behind the wheel alone--exciting, nerve-racking, free. No parents or instructors, just yourself and the car; all decisions are solely made by you. Are you ready, are you... old enough? The discussion of keeping the minimum driving age at 16 or raising it to 21 revolves around generic maturity, but there is more than just that to look at. After reviewing all pros and cons, the minimum age for being allowed to operate motor vehicles should be kept at 16.
Teens look forward to the day they finally turn 16 and can get their license. This is when they can be free of their parents and go wherever, when ever. As teens get excited about this day, the excitement also reflects in their driving. It is no secret that some teens are terrible drivers, and this is evident in the article “Teen Driver”.
“Driving mishaps can happen to anyone, but they happen all too frequently to teenage drivers because of their lacking significant experience behind the wheel…in recent years, safety experts, elected officials, and public policy experts have focused on strengthening such state laws with the goal of making the roads safer for teens. ” (Andrews, 2) New laws should be made to keep teens and the road a safer place. The driving age should be raised to 18 to reduce many dangers.
An extreme number of research and data have pointed out that teens are not equipped with safe driving skills. These numbers have lead to countless arguments between teens and adults. All though teens are more interested in their phone then a car they still have a desire to get onto the road. The car offers an immense amount of self conscious and maturity to a teen. This is one of the main points as to why teens are so eager to get out on the road as soon as possible. If and when they do get on the road they look right past the consequences that may occur with driving at such a young age. Without a doubt teenage drivers are very inexperienced when it comes to their first trips on the road because the only prior training they can get is practice
The big debate as to whether the legal driving age should be raised to eighteen is an ongoing issue. There are both arguments for and against this matter. Younger drivers, as well as old ones, can cause many life-threatening accidents; therefore, raising the minimum driving age could significantly reduce the number of accidents. The accident rates can be lowered considerably if the legal driving age is bumped up to eighteen. This would mean that no more kids could get hurt or worse, killed in a car accident.
The driving age should not be tampered with and raised to 21. Raising the driving age to 21 will introduce numerous of problems for parents and young teens that are working , social events ,and also school activities have
Teenagers dream of the day when they will receive their license and take a step closer to independence and gaining freedom from their parents. It is the rite of passage that many fifteen-year old yearn for. We count the days to our 16th birthday, waiting to make a trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles to receive our permit. It is exciting, exhilarating and just the mere thought of racing down the country roads make our spine tingle...Freedom! We all remember those months leading up to getting our permits but in those first days behind the wheel do we think about the number of deaths and accidents that occur due to teen driving? The number of families destroyed, futures cut short all because that excitement we feel takes us over and
CRASH! as two cars gets into an car accident killing an elderly woman while a teenage who is responsible behind the wheel drunk after coming from a party that his friend was having. Because, of safety concerns many states have increased the age at which teens can began to drive. Your state legislature is considering raising the minimum driving age from 16 to 18. Do you think the driving age should be raised?. Some think that the driving age shouldn't be raise because, that would give teenagers the opportunity to have more experience in driving as they get older. Others think the state should raise the driving age because teens are not ready to be on the road driving just yet. Although, i think that the driving age should increase because most teens are immature
Should the driving age be raised? Although thousands of 16- year olds die everyday in fatal car crashes. Even though some people say 16 year olds are too young to drive, they not because if you increase the driving age more older teens will die.
I don't believe that the driving age should not be changed. I think that the classroom teacher that lets you take the driver test not the hand written test, but the driving part should be a test, but they should do it more than once to really see if they are good drivers. Like when you go to drivers class they should say like “pop drive quiz” or something along those lines maybe do it six times and they have to pass every time or they can't get there license its fair if they really want their license they will try hard and take it serious no one deserves to die or hurt because some kid doesn't know how to drive or even adults mess up that's also why i think that like every four years or so everyone with a driver's license has to go and retake
Teen drivers have the mentality were they are untouchable when behind the wheel. But it’s obviously to much to handle for them because when it comes to the facts to many teens die a year. In 2007, 4,200 teens in the U.S aged from 15-17 were killed and 400,000 were treated in the E.R for injuries because of car accidents (“Motor vehicle safety, Teen Drivers, page 1”). This just shows how irresponsible teens are while driving. In a national survey 12.5% of all high school students rarely wear seatbelts, this just asking too get hurt in case an accident happens (“Motor vehicle safety, Teen Drivers, page 1”). This just shows how teens have a bad mentality while driving. In 2005, 54% of teen deaths occurred between 3 p.m. and midnight on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. This statistic shows that one more reason why a teen would want there license is to get to a party or go
The current driving age of sixteen is implemented in almost every state in the United States. Most states have become accustomed to the current driving age, but recently there are certain states that believe that the legal driving age should be raised due to various reasons. The main argument for most states is that sixteen-year old’s are not mature enough and lack the preparation to handle the responsibility to drive safely. Teenagers under the age of eighteen should be required to wait longer to get their license and should be more prepared before getting their license.
