Adolescents and adults need around 9 hours of sleep daily (De Souza 5). Since schools are starting so early, they can not get the needed sleep time, eight to nine hours. Even though teachers go to school the same time as students, consequences are worse in students and it seems to have more of a critical effect on students. No matter if it is a student or a teacher, the quality of sleep is very important for everybody.
“Why do we sleep?” is a very popular questions that many humans ask today. Sleep is very sufficient to the human body. If it was not important, then God would not have designed for a third of our life to be occupied by sleep. During this time period, many people are interested to know what is a good amount of sleep and what are the harmful effects to not getting enough sleep.
Here is my proposal. If we were to start school at nine, thus getting two hours of extra sleep, we would feel more awake and alive during the school day. Dr. John Deew of the University of Delaware says, “It is proven that one
It is evident that the state should extend many school's starting time , and even consider year round school . Others may disagree and think that schools should remain the same time and not change but i feel diffrent . The first reason why I feel like the state should extend school times back by atleast 30-40 minutes is because it will actually help them stay focused in class by giving them more time to to get them selfs ready to learn at school and the time can let them sleep for at least 10-15 minutes longer. Many teachers and staff are noticing that students sleep in class most of the time and the average high school student is recommended with at least 8.5-9.25 hours of sleep on school nights as stated in the text . In order for them to
Students need more sleep in the morning so that when they get to school they can listen more to the teachers and that they can understand what they are doing and they don 't have to fall asleep. Students can learn better if they can get some sleep at night and a little bit in the morning to help study whatever the class is doing for that day and that they can pay attention. Students should be able to understand that if they fall asleep then they will miss information and not pay attention.
Jilly Dos Santos found that teens need at least 8.5 hours of sleep every night. Due to how early school is starting, most teens are only getting about 6-7 hours of sleep. A later start time would also help teachers get more sleep. Teachers would also be appreciative because their students would be more alert, listen better, and get better grades. This could help kids have higher graduation rates and better report card/progress
As we all know education is a very important thing among all children in America, it's understandable why a child must meet so many hours of schooling in a year. I believe to make children want to actually go to school we should make starting time ten every morning, and let out at four. That's still seven hours of schooling each day for five days a week. It is proven that our brains work more properly with more sleep. Children dread school because waking up at six or five is very
A graphic shows that kids don't get enough sleep. Research shows that teens need 8.5-9.5 hours of sleep, more research shows that ⅔ of high school kids don't get more than 7 hours of sleep. Not to mention 43% of high school start before 8:00! The worst part is 33% of high school students report falling asleep in class. This shows that this is a serious matter and needs to be looked into.
Do you feel like you do not get enough sleep or feel like you can not make it through the school day? For years kids like you complain about having to wake up early to go to school, but for many years they have studied and found out that later school starting times can benefit kids. It has been proven that kids who get at least nine hours of sleep perform better than those who get less that nine hours. As a high school student I do not get enough sleep through the night due to all of the homework and studying I have to do for the next day. I usually go to bed around 11:30 and have to get up at 7:00 in order to get to school on time. I think school should have a later starting time, because with all of the studies, the facts state that later school time makes students more productive and it makes them a better student overall.
Who does not like a little extra sleep? No one really loves waking up early, especially for school. Many teens fall asleep in class, complain about being tried and never getting enough sleep. A few will not even show up to school because they are so exhausted. But by looking at school start times, a teens natural sleep cycle, and the effects it has on the teens, maybe schools should start later in the day.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, teenagers need 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep. However, only 34% of teens report getting 8 hours of sleep on a school night (Ming, Koransky, Kang, Buchman, Sarris, and Wagner). If we started schools later student's health would improve. It could also potentially help prevent some bad conditions that the CDC associates with prolonged sleep deprivation. People who do not get enough sleep are at a higher risk of diabetes, problems with obesity and poor mental health.
Sleep is a very important part of our life. The right amount of sleep is important in how productive our day turns out to be. Early school hours are causing children to not get enough sleep and making the children vulnerable to depression, anxiety, weight gain, lack of focus, and being late to school. Adolescents need between 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night. However, they are not able to get that because by the time they fall asleep at night it is past 11pm, and then they have to get up for school around 6am. The solution is to start school at a later time. Good sleep would mean that students will be more focused and productive in school.
Most people joke around about how important sleep is and they say things like: “If I don’t sleep right now I might die!”. But many people don’t know how true that statement can be or how important sleep really is. The amount of sleep you get is important and how much sleep you need varies depending on your age. Even naps can help people that have unusual sleeping schedules. Sleeping and napping give you the energy you need to go through the day, but over sleeping or napping can make you even more tired than you were before. Sleeping and napping is a very important thing you need to do to be healthy, to have enough energy to go through the day, and help you be more focused throughout the day.
Have you ever fallen asleep in class? Currently children at Holcomb Bridge Middle School are exhausted from waking up at 7:15 or earlier to get to school on time. Schools should start a couple hours later than usual so students can get more sleep. Studies at the National Heart,Lung and Blood Institute show that more sleep is better for your health. Not only is it better for our health, but it is also more convenient for teachers as well as students. Lastly, the more sleep students get, the faster their brain cells are.
