One of the most beneficial tools that an individual can engage in is self-improvement. This course has reemphasized active listening, reactive and reflective thinking, inspirational motivation, discipline model, and the insist and cooperate negotiation. Each module has helped to demonstrate the areas of strengths and weaknesses in my leadership style. I plan on improving my weaknesses and sharing my strengths with others. I have noticed a trend in all of the modules that I do not stop and try to process information. I try to innovate and insist on solutions for a quick fix. This can make me unapproachable for my subordinates because I am ready to implement a solution as soon as I hear of a problem. My peers can also feel as if I am being pushy when I hear of a problem and try to implement a solution. My supervisors see that I am very proactive and try to find and fix any problem or perceived problem that I am presented with.
This type of training is provided away from workplace in order to minimize distractions and encourage trainees to pay full attention. It includes lectures, case studies and simulation…
“A crisis occurs when a stressful life event overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope effectively in the face of a perceived challenge or threat” (Arnold & Boggs, 2011, pg. 415). When people are in a crisis situation they tend to forget their normal coping measures. When people train on crisis situations, they tend to perform better during a crisis event. “A favorable outcome depends on the person’s interpretation of the crisis, perception of coping ability, resources, and level of social support” (Arnold & Boggs, 2011, pg. 416).
For individuals participating in CIT training, it is important to verify if the situation they are responding to is a crisis. In the article, “The Seven-Stage Crisis Intervention Model: A Road Map to Goal Attainment, Problem Solving, and Crisis Resolution”, Ottens and Roberts define “crisis” as:

Now that I have completed the Crisis Prevention course, I have learned important aspects to consider when dealing with crisis situations. In general, I’ve learned different strategies in dealing with negative behaviours as well as being aware of my own personal issues and reactions to others. Also, the course has helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses in preventing a crisis.
There’s also a comparison to crisis intervention because both models focus on immediate problems and use specific agreements but the similarity is superficial as its well known that people experiencing a crisis situation often cannot conceptualise their problems and therefore cant establish a plan to tackle problems, as this is an action that requires a systematic and focused task, a rational response on the part of the client (Payne, 2002).
Some problems that were faced during the implementation process was making sure that staff members not only understood what
staff will be able to understand the problems, objectives, and operational procedures of the CIT, therefore they would be competent in the basic steps of crisis intervention. However, with all the training available it is most important for the staff to empathize with the person/people in crisis. “The ability to enter the victims world and to reflect your understanding of this world to the victim” as well as ”The ability to hear the facts contained in the words and feeling contained in the victim's body language-intensity and tone” and being able to “reflect this understanding
Ms. Davis gained knowledge in the areas of job retention skills, employer expectations, good work habits, completing applications, and interviewing. Ms. Davis has gain this knowledge by participating in work adjustment class on job retention and a supervised work experience. She is currently doing a community based tryout and furthering her knowledge in these areas. She made a lot of progress, but no longer appears to need services offered in the CRP.
