Research Design
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to explain and explore the experience and perception of a group of at- risk East Baton Rouge Parish School District students at Scotlandville Magnet High School who are utilizing the online credit recovery program Edgenuity in lieu of an elective course during the regular school day implemented as an intervention method in an effort to be placed with their graduation cohort. In 2015, Tetnowski, noted that “Exploratory case studies seek to establish a deeper understanding of a phenomenon and are particularly useful when there is minimal preliminary research to inform and guide the research” (p. 40). Taylor and Thomas, (2015) noted the “Exploratory approach enables the researcher to understand more about a particular problem or situation” (p.

“Qualitative research is a way of knowing and learning about different experiences from the perspective of the individual” (Vishnevsky & Beanlands, 2004, p. 234). The study will offer the students an opportunity to express their opinions about their overall experience with the program and give feedback which will include receiving minimal instruction from the teacher, the effectiveness of the program, and if it has benefited them versus taking repeat classes in a traditional classroom setting. The participants were selected because they are enrolled in the same school district, same school, and same intervention program. “Case study research allows the researcher to explore the phenomenon under investigation from a variety of perspectives to gain an in-depth, balanced picture of that phenomenon” (Taylor & Gregory, 2015, p. 37). Being able to interview all students enrolled in the program will allow me to gather a variation of viewpoints.
The following research questions will aid in the case study
S: YMR stated that she had been living with her mother about one year, has is a newcomer. YMR lived with her maternal grandmother for many years back in her country. YMR stated that when she arrived to the U.S., she found out that her mother was pregnant, She shared that her mother did not want to tell her because she did not know how the client was going to react. YMR stated that she was happy because her mother had had four miscarries before. YMR explained that almost at the same time that she started living with her mother, the mother's partner and father of the child that her mother was going to have moved into her home. YMR stated that her mom used to work from 6am-12pm and the YMR spent a lot of time with her mother's partner. YMR stated that this man has
In this paper, the definition and description of what a case study is, what are some reasons for using a case study, what are some disadvantages and advantages of this approach? Also included in this paper I will talk about what are some of the ways a researcher can acquire information that can is used for a case study. A case study can be defined as a descriptive account of the behavior, history, and other relevant factors concerning a particular individual (Cozby, Bates, 2012).
S.R is a 69-year old man who presents to the clinic because his “wife complains that his snoring is difficult to live with.”
1) Days cash on hand was 66.87 in 2012 and it dropped in 2013. This is better because they are potentially paying off debt and there is no need to just keep money sitting.
A case study is “a method of analysis and a specific research design for examining a problem” (University of Southern California, 2010). It can be used to analyze a person, place, event, or other subjects in order to help discover mitigating issues, misconceptions, failures, trends, or recommendations (USC, 2010). Case studies will be used to gain a better understanding of situations and topics to help others make better policies, procedures, and decisions (USC, 2010).
I presented Esteban’s case during case consultation because I noticed that I had countertransference when doing his intake. My expectation when presenting this case was to receive feedback that would help me to provide effective treatment to Esteban without my countertransference affecting his treatment. This section of the paper will talk about the feedback I received about my countertransference and how to support Esteban.
This type of research is very valuable. This type of research is the most accurate and best way to fully understand the virus. It may be time consuming but it is the best way to study the virus.
An in-depth study of a particular situation rather than a sweeping statistical survey. Case study research is a method that was used to narrow down a very broad field of research into one easily researchable topic.
Case studies are one of the first types of research to be used in the qualitative methodology and repeating the study several times will lead to the increased reliability of the study (Starman, 2013). This methodology is appropriate because it will allow for data collection results to be generalized based on the theoretical propositions and not the population (Harrison et al. 2017).
- One of the issues is the fact that Senator’s are appointed by the Prime Minister. In other words, senators are appointed to the Senate for being loyal to the Prime Minister’s party which is seen as undemocratic and gives the Senate an illegitimate image.
Side Effects: Frequent urge to urinate, headache (continuing), loss of appetite (continuing), mood or mental changes, muscle pain or twitching, nausea or vomiting, nervousness or restlessness, slow breathing, swelling of feet or lower legs, unpleasant taste, unusual tiredness or weakness
In case study research, an investigator studies an individual or small group of individuals with an unusual condition or situation. Case studies are typically clinical in scope. The investigator (often a clinical sociologist) sometimes uses self‐report measures to acquire quantifiable data on the subject. A comprehensive case study, including a long‐term follow‐up, can last months or years.
A case study is a specific instance that is frequently designed to illustrate a more general principle (Nisbet and Watt, 1984). Hitchock and Hughes (1995) further suggest that the case study approach is particularly valuable when the researcher has little control over evens. Case studies strives to portray ‘what it like’ to be a particular situation, to catch up reality and ‘thick description’ (Geertz, 1973) of participants’ lives experiences of, thoughts about and feelings for a situation. They involve looking at a case or phenomenon in its real-life context, usually employing many types of data (Robson, 2002). It is important in case studies for events and situations to be allowed to speak for themselves, rather than to be largely interpreted, evaluated or judged by the researcher. In this respect the case study is akin to the television documentary. Case studies can make theoretical statements, but, like other forms of research and human sciences, these must be supported by the evidence presented.
In reading the first article Coach Knight: The Will to Win, I found the article found Coach Knight to be very offensive and mean to his players. Coach Knight did not display good leadership skills. According to the article, Coach Knight’s drive and passion for excellence was not always received as well as his record of wins and losses Snook, Per low, Delacey, 2005).
