One of OSHA rules states that the workplace needs to take certain precautions to prevent falls. Safety measures like walking and not running can help but in this situation, a fall can still occur because Bonnie has an extension cord running from her work station to the other side of the room plugged in to an outlet. Someone, whether they're moving fast or slow can trip and even fall over the cord.
The safety officer did do the right thing the first few times. He inspected and found a violation, and issued a verbal warning telling Bonnie that it was not allowed to be plugged in using an extension cord that could cause potential harm to her fellow coworkers. But one thing Im not sure of is if he or she did an inspection on the heater to know
The Health and safety officer is Lynn Taylor. Lynn completes the yearly risk assessment, and all the staff are responsible for the daily and weekly assessments. Responsibility for reporting a risk is of all the staff, and for them to ensure Lynn is informed so she is able to arrange repair/removal as necessary.
From this incident was any employee disciplined for not following safety procedures. This would establish if the company believes the employees were negligent in their duty.
As you are aware, the decision by the Court of the Barton v. Rona case (2012 ONSC 3809) recognized that although Mr. Barton’s misconduct was serious, his specific acts of misconduct were not severe enough to warrant his dismissal. The Court felt that in this situation, a stern warning to him never again to permit a safety violation by an employee would have been sufficient (p.13, para. 55). This was particularly the case, based on your investigation you have performed on April 24, 2009, given that nothing in his excellent work record and no prior infractions suggested that he would not be amenable to such discipline (p.10, para. 40) or that he would repeat such misconduct in the future (p.9, para. 38). Given that the Court could not find that his misconduct met the threshold of striking at the heart of the employment relationship (p.14, para. 55), it concluded that Rona had breached Mr. Barton’s employment contract, and Mr. Barton was entitled to damages as a result (p.14, para. 56).
This case is followed by the laws and regulations of OSHA. OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) is an organization that has been put into place to ensure the safety of employees while on their jobs. These regulations are put into place to help reduce the number of on the job injuries and deaths.
It is unavailing for Williams to argue that employees must take greater care to avoid placing themselves in harm's way or that management can “expect an employee not [to] intentionally place himself in danger, because such a claim misconstrues the purpose of the OSHA safety standards. In turn, Williams’ argument was not effective due to the fact that it is the responsibility of the foreman and/or owner of the construction to provide training to any new hire or reassigned employee working on the site. OSHA also provided testimony and/or proof from there investigation that employees were not being trained before they began working on the site. It is the responsibility of any employer to ensure that all employees have been provided company safety manuals and OSHA regulations, as well as training sessions to make sure they are knowledgeable of the information. The company demonstrated negligence when a supervisor testified that the safety manual was behind the seat of his truck and he never referred to it to make sure they followed safety protocol. Therefore, the fines should not have been decreased from $91,000 to $22,000 nor
An example would be when using a tool, they leaveit lying on the floor for someone to trip up on.

An assisted fall is when a staff member witnesses a patient's fall and attempts to minimize the impact of descend. Many patient falls occurring during hospital encounters may cause little or no harm but some can result in serious and even possibly life-threatening consequences for many patients such as hip fractures and head trauma. Even when a fall does not lead to death, it can require prolonged hospitalization. Some could suffer disability, loss of function, and lose their independence or premature death. “Patient falls in hospitals are a common and often preventable adverse event. Nurses routinely conduct fall risk assessment on all patients, but communication of fall risk status and tailored interventions to prevent falls is variable at best.” (Hurley,
Expose wire can cause patient’s trip over and fall which can cause injury and damaging parts of their body.
I will now be looking at The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 legislation helps protect employees against electrical injuries that occur in the work place, each year in the UK there an estimated number of 1000 injuries at work all from electrical shocks or burns. They have to make sure all their equipment and supplies are safe by regular tests that show they are safe. At super Group the use of electrical equipment is daily they have many large machines and now in each department they use at least four laptops and other electrical equipment. There are three points every business has to make sure they follow:
This requires the employer to assess and minimise any risks when working with electricity or electrical equipment.
Workers are protected under the Workplace Health and Safety Act. This act states that all workers have the right to know about the hazards they are working with. This includes what the specific dangers of the task or object(s) are, and what precautions must be taken to prevent any injuries from happening while working with them. Secondly, all workers have the right to participate. They are allowed to participate in any health and safety activities, meetings, and/or plans. Additionally, workers can refuse to work if they believe their task could in any way harm themselves or others. The Vice President of Health and Safety (the supervisor) will then have to investigate the problem and will have to come up with a solution to avoid the potential
As a nurse we want to ensure that our patients receive a high quality of care. Patients should feel safe and satisfied while hospitalized. Many hospitals are continually looking for answers and implementation to significantly reduce the inpatient fall incidents. According to Bechdel et al (2014), the top priority of health care organizations nationwide is to reduce and eliminate falls within the clinical care settings. One of the serious problems in acute care hospital is the patient’s fall. The unfamiliar environment, acute and co-morbid illnesses, prolonged bedrest, polypharmacy, and the placement of tubes and catheters are common challenges that place patients at risk of falling. Most of the falls that I have encountered while working involves
Flood: to make sure there’s no contact with any electrical equipment. This could also cause the floor to be slippery.
Our employees have the benefit of a safety first oriented work environment and will not experience retaliation when bringing any safety concerns
