External/Internal Factors When analyzing a company it is important to understand what the internal and external factors of the company are and how those factors are affecting the four functions of management. The four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Internal factors affect what happens within the company and external factors are the outside environment that affects the company. Through strategic planning the company can build on its strengths and monitor how the company’s actions affect internal and external factors. The best way to do that is the use of computers and specifically software programs available that will access the smallest detail and add it into your plan model. Organizing in today’s society has become extremely easy as long as you are utilizing the latest tools available. For example, a manager can use excel spreadsheets to organize labor costs, schedule employees, or even stay on budget. These office computers can be tied into their home computer network keeping the easy access to the information. They can also be connected and synchronized with any of today’s smart phones, giving information at any manager’s disposal instantaneously. Leading and controlling your employees is always a difficult task. When you can text an employee instantly at any point of the day, it has kind of put enter office memos to the wayside. Managers and connect with other managers instantly and relay information quietly and efficiently. When the text is received, even if the other manager was in a meeting the information is still there waiting for the earliest possible moment to access that information. With the use of computers, smart phones, ipads, and many other new inventions that have hit the market and remained affordable. Any manager can optimize his management to be fast and efficient.
