You've all seen the kids walking down the school halls in the jeans and boots or the students that hang out with their animals, right? Most of them are involved in FFA (which isn't just for farmers now a days) and with being in FFA comes the highlight of every member's life: being able to wear the official dress worn by other members sharing the same passion. FFA. Future Farmers of America. These four words mean more than cows and plows. It's leadership skills. It's growing as an individual. It's becoming the person you thought wouldn't come of yourself. When you see the national blue and corn gold, (the official colors of FFA) you feel a sense of being welcomed. This organization is not just a group of farm kids that wear jeans and boots …show more content…
These symbols and meanings have been associated with the FFA as long as the jacket had been adopted. First, the owl. The owl symbolizes wisdom given to us by our advisors as well as the wisdom we have gained from others. The plow is placed in the middle of the emblem. It indicates the labor and tillage of the soil, because without labor nor tillage we can't accomplish much. The rising sun is the final symbol included on the emblem which is meant to lead us out of the darkness of selfishness and into the glorious sunlight of brotherhood and …show more content…
There's jackets for different positions. For example the jacket that says your chapter or school on it, is saying that's your home chapter. If throughout your FFA career you realize this is something you love or have a passion for, you can run for a chapter office. That jacket is the same as any other chapter member. As of August 2016 Indiana FFA has 11,856 members and 206 chapters. So to make things easier, the state is divided into "chunks" if you will. Our state has 12 districts, and within those districts are chapters. An example would be Bellmont. Bellmont is is district six along with fourteen other schools. Then the districts are grouped together into sections. Indiana has four sections. You're probably wondering what that has to do with anything about official dress. Don't worry I'll tell you. FFA has many opportunities to offer. One of those are becoming a district officer. To relate this back to official dress, the back your jacket would say Indiana and instead if your chapter, you pull have your district on the back. Me, for example, had the chance to become an officer. The back of my jacket says Indiana and below the emblem it says District
The Foul Weather Parka Liner was designed to fit properly over the Operational Dress Uniform (ODU). However, this jacket lacks a comfortable fit. With the Coast Guard’s requirements to maintain “sleeves up” from April through November in the northern regions, the jacket cannot be worn comfortably while sleeves are rolled during cool spring and autumn months. Additionally, this jacket fits abnormally bulky in the shoulders with a tapered design towards a person’s hips. Since the jacket is tightly fitted near a person’s lower region, anything placed in the pockets creates a bulging appearance. This design prevents a member from utilizing the pockets while sitting and is extremely constricting. Therefore, the pockets are ineffective and prevent the member from using them.
During the years you are a FFA member, you probably will be asked "What does the FFA mean to you?" or "What is the goal of the FFA?". Most everyone will say "to have fun" or "to be a part of agriculture". However, there is a much deeper meaning and goal to what the FFA really is. The FFA creed speaks of every goal, idea, and belief of American Agriculture. This tradition of Vocational Agriculture has been passed down and memorized by every Greenhand in the country. It tells of the pessimistic future of agriculture, teaches leadership along with respect, and encourages you to make a positive influence on your community. These few ideas are what makes FFA strong, and able to thrive in this nation. The FFA

When I was told to write about the FFA jacket and what it means to me, it made me stop and really think about FFA and what it means to be a part of FFA. Because FFA is more than a jacket, I think it is an organization of young men and women who have an interest in agriculture, whether it is actually farming or working in the agricultural field. When I see FFA members in official dress it tells me that they are outstanding citizens in their community, they are clean cut, they are well mannered, and that blue jacket commands respect.
The National FFA Organization, formerly known as Future Farmers of America (FFA) is an organization that is allows for all students in high school to be a part of an organization that strives to do better in the agriculture industry. Students of all races and ethnicities are a part of the FFA and that was made possible do to the changes that our country has made in an effort to end segregation and other ethnic issues.

The army physical training uniform is made up of many different parts. The most commonly used is the summer wear. In the army there are many uniforms a soldier has to wear. This is for the different activities a soldier does. For everything from their daily Physical Training (PT), their regular working uniform Army Combat Uniform (ACU), or their dress uniform either the Army Service Uniform (ASU), or the Army Green Service Uniform (Class A). Each uniform is design to fit a specific task and to be worn a in certain way. A great resource for either the ASU or the Class A is the “U.S. ARMY UNIFORM GUIDE.” I found this little book a great resource because it shows every form of the ASU for both males and females soldiers, for officers and enlisted. I found this to be great because it shows where everything goes, and how to measure everything, and for a

Having uniforms or no uniforms is a controversial topic amongst schools. However, the idea of Spirit Wear is both comfortable but also looks professional with uniform bottoms, serving as a compromise. Spirit Wear also shows a student’s style and provides more options to clothing. Finally, it would receive positive feedback from students as it did when it was first allowed every Friday. Spirit Wear should be optional everyday because uniforms are uncomfortable, spirit wear allows more options to show personality, and are already allowed on Fridays.
