For the Face-to-Face Communication Tactic section the most effective tactic for college students would have to be the special events tactic. This is because it has a little bit of everything. “Annual meetings, groundbreakings, open houses, grand openings, anniversary celebrations, awards/recognition events, sporting events, fundraisers” (Swanson 563). This is because as college students none are exactly alike and with this special mix it allows everyone to be happy. The most effect tactic for parents would be special events as well. This is because like college students the parents will want to focus on what their kids are into. The social events tactic allows for the parents to get an inside peak of what their kids are seeing.

For Hillsborough Community College to attract the most students and achieve higher retention rates, Differentiated Marketing would be the best practice. Because Hillsborough Community College is predominantly diverse, target marketing groups should include dual-enrolled students, recent high-school graduates, young adults, and career-oriented adults seeking higher education. A smaller marketing group to consider is the mature adult over the age of 60 who are seeking recreational classes. Promotional messages should be developed to target each group in order to increase attraction and retention in each group category. The main marketing focus of HCC has been on the high school market, and not in actively recruiting the adult market (Clarus 16). Though the high school market may always display a greater percentage of students attending HCC, other marketing groups may show an improved interest if promotional messages are targeted to each group, thus increasing overall attendance.
For this question I am going to explain strategies used in health and social care environments to overcome barriers to effective communication and interpersonal interactions.
As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between a healthy, steady social life and a bright academic future. Communication is an important tool in life, not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally.
After an interaction is initiated with a stranger or acquaintance, do your conversations typically proceed in disarray? Your mind races, you struggle with delivering a coherent message, but even more so the only thing you can focus on is your restless actions and how painfully inconsistent your paralanguage sounds. On the contrary, behind closed doors few people know that you are sort of like a big deal. Maybe you can’t relate to the prior, but it provides some insight into my own internal problem that I’ve struggled with until recently; appearing timid in certain social situations. Though, most of these episodes occur with unfamiliar people, it has surfaced among friends as well, but the likelihood and intensity of these behaviors appear to
When giving someone bad news you should always use face-to-face communication! Doing this shows respect to Jennifer along with ensuring there is no misunderstanding during the termination. Getting fired is not a pleasant experience therefore Jennifer might not want this information written down. When you have information to pass along to another, that is thought to be personal, it is best to keep it confidential by speaking in person with her. This could be considered a complex issue in that case you should avoid conflict and have this conversation in
My father and my grandfather are both accomplished, self-taught guitarists. I began to learn the instrument as soon as I was able to hold a guitar at four years of age. In addition I have sought instruction from professional guitar instructors. However, I have realized a struggle with my own introversion and awkwardness with spoken communication in public. This might be a serious hinderance to a successful preforming musician. This struggle was highlighted when I was interviewed for a local culture story. I watched myself fumble with a few sentences on live television. Another example occurred when my high school music theory teacher sat on my desk last october for a little chat. ” He said, “ Really ? Have you ever performed? ” I said,

As read through your post, it was humbling and touchy. It is so emotional that I was shedding tears by the time I finish reading it, wow. It is disheartening to see our parents who sacrifice everything for us just to ensure our lives and world is a better place so we could be successful, turn out to rely on us for support at late adulthood. I also think that what goes around, comes around, in the sense that if you maltreat aged and feeble parents and elderly in general when they need your help the most, you would be treated as such or even worse when you find yourself in their shoes.
in my opinion, there are many similarities in communicating in person and using technology. in ways of communicating a person can be creative. When people texting, you can send internet expressions. such as emoji, gifs, and little text doodle, also you are talking to someone either way. for example, one of my closest friend talks to me when he needs help on his homework, that he forgot to do or sometimes he texts me with expression to help me understand how serious it is. Another similarity is communicating in person and technology can be time-consuming. I stay like three months from calling my grandmother, so when I call her we stay talking on the phone for an hour and a half. Also, when people are meeting new people for the first time when you're texting them or talking to them. This year I met new friends and now we talk to each other when we're doing a project together, or sometimes we text. Finally, the last similarity bullying can be present in both means of
I enjoyed watching this video. Feiler did a wonderful job in conveying his message. The three communication strategies that I never considered before, which were the highlight of his talk were:
The frequency and medium of communication between parents, students, and administrators is a specific interest. Much of the increased involvement originates from the prevalence of technology such as cell phones and e-mail, parents are able to talk to their students daily, receiving immediate updates happenings with classes, extra-curricular activities, friends, and roommates. In College Parents of America’s survey, 90% of
Communication is the foundation of all contact and involves much more than just words being spoken. The skills of a good communicator must be practiced and developed with relative frequency. Participants in a high-quality communication conversation are engaged in choosing a communication channel, sending clear messages, listening actively, and understanding others’ responses. When considering the one-way communication that occurs in media through various artists and communication professionals, we must recognize the importance of varying communication approaches.
Two of the most prevalent forms of communication styles are direct and indirect communication; these two communication styles impact how members of a culture interact with each other (Morreale & Pearson, 2008). According to Craddock (2002), Kierkegaard, regarded direct communication, “as the mode for transferring information and considered it totally appropriate to the fields of history, science, and related disciplines” (p. 70). Direct communication can be defined as, “speech that specifically states and directs an action. When someone hears direct speech, they know immediately what needs to be done. There is no question about who is in charge, and usually no need for discussion” (Gaddis, 2006, p. 11). On the other hand, Kiergaard believed that, “the indirect was the mode for eliciting capability and action from within the listener, a transaction that did not occur by giving the hearer some information” (Craddock, 2002, p. 70). Unlike direct communication, “a indirect style of speech is not typically authoritative, rather it encourages input from the listener” (Gaddis, 2006, p. 11). The direct and indirect communication styles are often used in different fields, disciplines, and industries ranging from education, workplace, literature, and entertainment, to church services (Morreale & Pearson, 2008). For example, the population relies on the news media as the main source of information and the basis on which they form their opinions and voting decisions” (Fog, 1999, p.
