Anyone can register for a Facebook account and interact with people across the world in a trusted environment. Facebook sees music and video services as part of their sharing strategy, providing users with the capability to share music, or list of songs, from online music sites. A user can download music or video and jointly experience them with a friend, regardless of that friend’s music service. Kotler and Keller (2011) conquers with this global strategy as they comment about on social networking sites as the glue that brings buyers with similar interests together, to compare products and influence purchasing decisions (p.11). To support Facebook’s music service argument, marketing research can be compiled by analyzing Facebook’s demographic population, such as age mix, educational groups, or geographical population. Although there are several marketing research contact methods, such as questionnaires or phone and personal interviews, the most effective method will probably be a Facebook fan page. A fan page will allow feedback from a target audience and is easily promotable with tools provided by Facebook. It allows hosting of discussion walls and forums, updates to all members, visitor statistics, and sharing of video and photos about the product or service.
