Facebook is rapidly attracting multitudes of visitors every month instigating a shift in communication. This change consequently presents that societies are choosing to become part of the popular Facebook culture for various reasons, such as its renowned opportunities for keeping in touch with current social circles, reunifying long lost family and friends and broadening prospects of finding new companions. Facebook removes some of the barriers that may limit our regularity of communication with people, upholding the geographic differences, social class, busy lifestyles and economic factors that may usually discourage us from regular contact. Overall Facebook’s different types of applications are designed to suit a broad range of different personalities without discriminating certain individuals, as this could be partial evidence on why such a large number of diverse societies are attracted to Facebook. (Ryan et al. 2011, pp. 1658-1664) The use of Facebook and other social networking sites may prove to be beneficial in areas of Social Capital. Social capital is a supple term, determined in this instance as different types of communication resources used among the relationships of other people. Social Cpital links some important positive effects to our public health and can retain some economic factors. When Social Capital decreases, communities may develop into a social disorder eventuating into the decline in communal events and potentially deliberating distrust among other individuals. Facebook as a form of social capital may be a beneficial contributor, offering societies to learn more about each other in a less intrusive way as the member’s may commune in the Facebook world based on common interests and fundamental principles of curiosity as we learn of other individuals progressions in life and our similarities among one another.
