Many people think that the conflicts they’ve faced have shaped them into who they are today. Facing conflict helps people develop the skill to decide what to do when there’s a problem in their life. The way such a thing is handled says a lot about a character. In the case of Sundiata, the conflicts he has faced have made him into a violent, yet mighty, person that’s proven to be fit for the title of a king. To begin with, one significant man to man conflict Sundiata faces is with the king’s first wife, Sassouma Berette. On page 129, it says that whenever Sogolon passed by, Sassouma mocked her. She was happy to do this to Sogolon because of Sundiata’s disabilities. In addition to mocking Sogolon, she despised Sundiata too, all throughout

A Raisin in the Sun and Dr. King’s speech discuss similar topics such as dreams and pride. In his speech, Dr. King proclaims, " We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline" (King). King encourages his fellow Americans to keep their dignity by remaining benevolent in their protest. He states that fighting for one's belief is vital, however, that it should not result in barbarity. Once it has reached that point it signifies the loss of one's pride. In the play, honor is one of the major themes and is expressed in several ways. The pride in their heritage and family that they all share is a major correlation between the views expressed by Dr. King and the story. His idea that one should show discipline and
Sundiata: An Epic of Old Mali was originally orally told by Djeli Mamoudou Kouyate, who then gave the story to Djibril Tamsir Niane. Djibril was originally born in Guinea and was a descendent of African storytellers. He is also an African historian who got his degree from the University of Bordeaux in France. He taught at the Institutes Polytechnique before he joined the Basic Institute of Black Africa. This book was originally told and written in Mandingo by Djeli, then translated into French by Djibril, and then translated into English by G.D. Pickett. There is nothing known about the translator and author G.D. Pickett.
Physical disabilities can be crippling. Some disabilities you can overcome, but no matter what effect they leave physically, they have lasting effects on character. Sundiata had a “slow and difficult childhood” (D.T. Niane, 2004, 127) due to not having the use of his legs, and horrid social skills. As Sundiata grew, the other children were walking and playing, but Sundiata crawled and hit them (D.T. Niane, 127). The narrator describes Sundiata as gluttonous, and lame. These things can have a negative effect on character, and perhaps causing Sundiata to feel below expectations, and have an impending sense of responsibility to walk. The ridicule expressed towards him may have caused him to feel some sort of shame. Despite the negative impact
In the play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry the Younger family are presented with a dilemma. The dilemma being should the Younger family stick with their pride and move into the Clybourne Park development refusing the money from the Clybourne Park association to convince the Younger family not to move into the predominantly white neighborhood. However a character named Walter Younger blew a lot of the insurance money given to the Youngers by the late father to Walter adding a another layer of complexity to the already morally complex dilemma. The Younger family should still stick with their pride and move into Clybourne Park to show they are humans too with equal inalienable rights, despite the recent economic set back the family
When you’re a child, you get to understand your culture. You live with it everyday, but when you grow up, things change in your life that might make you experience new things. That’s what happened to Sundara, when she found something else that was new and exciting for her .
Hosseini furthers this theme through detailed conflicts that are scattered all throughout the book. A Thousand Splendid Suns is riddled with adversity and conflict. Every conflict in the book proves to serve a greater purpose. These hardships are merely a stepping stone in what is to come for each character. For example, Laila’s house being bombed and her parents dying is what leads to her coming into a relationship with Mariam and Rasheed.
Throughout Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the narrator’s surroundings force her to evolve. The story begins with the country of Biafra announcing their secession from Nigeria. Soon after, a civil war begins and Nigerian soldiers advance on the narrator’s home, forcing her family to evacuate. As a result, the plot is mainly focused around the narrator adjusting to the unfamiliar feeling of being a refugee. The narrator’s personality and her interactions with those around her dramatically change throughout the story.
On November 14, 2000 Olav Larsson, Managing Director of Sunwind, eased back in his seat as his A380 climbed away from Tokyo’s Narita Airport to begin the 17 hour flight to Gothenburg, Sweden. He was returning from a 10-day trip to Japan where he had visited factories of Nissan and Mazda as well as a number of their parts suppliers. This visit had reinforced his conviction that Sunwind should initiate a proposal to Volvo, its major customer, that Just-In-Time delivery of floor lids1 be made directly onto its 700 series automobile assembly lines at Torslanda, near Gothenburg, Kalmer, a port city on Sweden’s east cost, and at Ghent in Belgium.

Shantata! Court Chalu Ahe (Silence! The Court is in Session, 1967) was his first play in which he marked out as a rebel against the established values of the society. This play combines social criticism with the tragedy of an individual victimized by society. The play represents the mental conflict of the protagonist, Miss Leela Benare who appears during the mock-trial as an accused. The plot of the play revolves round the trial of Miss Benare. Her role eclipses the roles of her male-counterparts. In love, she is cheated twice; first by her maternal uncle and later by Prof. Damle, her loving–companion. However, in the first event, the guilt passes unnoticed and hence, unpunished. But, in the other one, she is caught in a trap, through the cruel
