My score on the effective study skills quiz was 21. I believe that it is probably a fair score because my study skills are not very good. Usually when I get an assignment I put it off until the last minute and if it is not that important or not worth that many points I do not do it and if it is important then I just throw it together at the last minute and do the best that I can. Surprisingly, I still do pretty well even though it sounds like I should fail just about everything. However, I know that it will not work for much longer and I will need to put together a better way of studying soon. That being said, I believe that the main issue is just responsibility and holding myself accountable for my work. I need to put the priority of
My first failure discouraged me to the point where, I felt like I would never reach an advanced math level again. The lack of self-confidence that resulted from my sub-par math scores soon began to negatively affect some of my other classes. I quickly realized that the trend had to stop. I worked diligently to achieve what, at the time, seemed unattainable. My change in the outlook of my repeated failures helped me to finally succeed. Throughout the course of the last two years, I have grown more self-aware in my study habits. I push myself even harder when I think I have done the best I can.
Failure is a part of life. While many see failure as a negative thing, I have started to see it as a situation that can make you a better person. Failure drives me to never make that mistake again. I first realized this when I took my first AP class and AP exam and received a score of 2. This journey all started sophomore year when I took AP World History. I quickly learned that I needed to actually read and take notes to be able to succeed in the class. It took a few poor grades on essays and tests for me to understand this. Despite this new revelation, I still struggled in the class. When it came time to start reviewing and preparing for the exam, I put an immense amount of effort, but not as hard as I should’ve been. Exam day came and
The service user has various assessments of need undertaken, this allows practioners to create plans and to regularly review the plans put in place for children and young people. Watson and West (2006), argue that good social work practice is good quality assessment, assessments inform evaluations and judgements. Assessment is about critically analysing information from a range of sources to determine need, eligibility and risk. Assessments involve a collaborative process; ensuring people participate and take as much control as possible in identifying their own needs. From the social work point of view, all professional judgments should be balanced and substantiated. Moreover, a perspective that sees the 'whole system' and the interconnected
My earliest advice I wish to bestow on other students is never to let a low score discourage you. I recall, I sometimes felt disappointed as well as devasted after receiving a low grade. As a result, my performance in each of my classes began to decline; however, my outlook on his started to shift when I realized instead of being discouraged about each
The assessment data included in the Miles College self-study states that candidates preparing to work in schools, know and demonstrate content knowledge, pedagogical skills and professional dispositions needed to be facilitators of learning for all students in P-12 schools (IR, p. 3).
The ACT was one of the many steps I have had to take in preparing myself for college. In October I will be taking the test again and I desire to receive a score of 29 or higher. My scores were as follows: English 28, Mathematics 24, Reading 27 and Science 24. I strongly believe my reasoning for receiving such low scores was due to my lack of studying. I did not properly prepare myself for such an important test. There are multiple resources I could have used yet I wasted my time and did not take it seriously. Before retaking the test I aspire to grow in my writing by building up my strengths and knocking down my weaknesses.
Don’t despair. There is a way to be in that 10% to 20% that passes. You must make a huge effort to be prepared. After failing or making a low score on the first attempt, many people prepare for the test and score well the second time they take it.
One tip to grade written responses quickly is sharing the workload (Brookhart, 1999). One summer, I teamed with a colleague to teach a course. During that semester, we shared the grading responsibilities. Once we realized how we could get grading done quicker together, we started sharing the grading for other courses throughout the year. However, we do have to be careful in maintaining fair grading. Although our exam items are problem-solving items with one final answer, this is where the guideline of detailed solutions with partial credit indicated for problem-solving items (Morrison, Ross, Kalman, & Kemp, 2013) will be helpful in the future.
In skilled nursing facilities, there are many factors that could cause bias in assessment results. Therapist-related, client-related, and external-related factors can all contribute to assessment results being bias.
Test taking is one of the most important things to have good skills at. Test usually have a significant effect on your grade. The more you are used to test and are
There are many reasons why I fail the exam. The reason why I receive the grade that I have got on the test was because I was overconfident that I know all the material that was in the textbook or from the lecture notes that I overlook and didn’t studying the materials like I should have. The second reason why I fail the test because I lack the interest for the materials that was in the book. Since I don’t know how this information will benefit my future career.
Everybody has their personal study aid, such as "freely, seriously, and neutrally". But, not everyone's effects are nice, they may don't want to face that.
The score I applied for my Intellectual score/evaluation was a 6. The ultimate goal is to complete my bachelor’s degree in the next year and a half. My concisions in accomplishing this goal was balancing the time for work and school to maintain my very best in both areas of my life. I’ve been successful to this point managing my time with the unit III weekly timetable to dedicate time for my success in school. The one item needing improvement is spending more time with the
Studying skills will help you be more successful as well, there is also to much studying. To much studying can cause stress, and dense learning habits, also pushing your self to hard may ruin learning skills and cause your self to feel bad, or not as intelligent. Study skills for tests, quizzes, and exams is very important. Evenly spreading out study time will increase memory of the subjects you learn. Taking frequent breaks will make studying less stressful. Using flash cards, web sites, computers, or just a pencil and paper are all great ways to study. Having an answer sheet to refer to, and look over when your done will also help study and learning skills because it can help you see what you did wrong and need to fix. Having a study group or club before big tests, like exams or diplomas, will help you have more fun with your friends when studying.
First off, who I am as a learner has changed over the past years. At times before, I wouldn’t take certain classes or assignments seriously and have learned my lessons when I failed. I believe having classmates at the time who weren’t as focused as I wanted to be, played a big role in my lack of understanding in classes. I understood later that if I felt learning was so important to me, I need to realize that it is my future and I needed to focus on my own. Having learner in my top 5 strengths defines me very well. Rath (2007) explains that, “The process, more than the content or the result, is especially exciting for you” (p.133). I believe this defines me as a learner because I enjoy having books in hand, opening up my notebook to write notes and learning new ways to understand the class. Regardless if the content is something I have to get in to or if I don’t do well on tests, I enjoy the process of studying and learning more even when I know I didn’t do so well; that is what motivates me. I believe as long as I keep this mindset and understand that this is my strength, I will continue to grow and further my education as much as possible. Even though I have failed a few of my last classes, I never let that stop me from continuing. Knowing that I have “failed” makes me realize I know I can do better and I try my hardest not to let it get me down. I will not get further if I don’t keep trying and as a learner I am a motivator to myself in my studies.
