FAITH REASON IMAGINATION
FAITH.
Faith, in the religious sense, is the belief based upon our spiritual connections with God. Faith aids, stabilizes and nourishes us spiritually allowing our knowledge of his words to grow. Since there are so many different religious faiths, one must indulge in the one that is closer to home. Christianity is the religion that is dominant in the United States. It is faith and belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God, The Father, and that He was send to earth to save the souls of sinners.
REASON
Reason, is the logic upon which decisions can be made with mutual benefit or at least mutual understanding between two or more parties. Reason is what is used to neutralize volatile situations. Reason is also

There have been many men executed for crimes they were not guilty of. There is no recourse when this happens. There is no way to make the right with that man, or his family. His life is gone forever and all the apologies in the world can’t bring him back to a normal lifestyle. I try to explain that even Jesus Himself was given the death penalty wrongly. Nothing that anyone could do would undo that injustice He received. This is just one example of why the death penalty, though it was been carried out in the Bible, isn’t worth it. I agree with what Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. once said, ”An eye for an eye just leaves everybody blind”. There are some things in the Bible that are timeless. Some of those things include, love your neighbor as you love yourself, do not desire your neighbor’s goods, honor thy mother and father and above all else, thou shall have no other gods before Me. If one keeps this commandment, I think that he has shown a common sense that will be appreciated in the end by The Great Judge of all mankind.
In my personal experience, I’ve found that a true belief in my faith has brought me from serious life issues. My steadfast belief is that what I pray for, as long as it in within reason, I will receive. It’s happened in my life over and over again. I have learned through trials that when you pray for something and it doesn’t come to pass, you
When discussing faith is it important to look at the word closely and understand its meaning. The basic definition of faith is “confidence or trust in a person; and belief that is not based on proof” (Random House… 693). Whether someone puts their faith in a person or a religious being, faith can be simplified as having
Faith can be defined as complete trust in someone or something. As immigrants came to America from their home countries faith played a big role. Immigrants were essentially coming into an
Many people would agree that without faith, the world would be in chaos. The book Christian Foundation by Kathleen Fischer and Thomas Hart gives an interpretation on faith in our time. Many people would question the definition of faith. Faith is a gift, which is given by God to have trust in him and belief in him. This book is a great entry in anyone's life that has speculation on his or her own faith. The book has many ways into understanding ones own religion. It discusses the Bible, Jesus, Church, God's existence and Images of God. All of these chapters helped me get a better interpretation of what my religion entailed.
The death penalty is a highly controversial topic for most. People are usually for it or against it, very rarely do you ever find a person who is in the middle. Some of those people supporting it tend to use the bible as their main source of evidence by saying that death penalty was used in the Old testament. The other side usually replies with the claim that although the criminals did something bad, and should be punished that does not make them any less human, and they should not be killed as a form of restitution for their crimes or to show that the people in charge have all the power. In the case study, a life for a life the issue of keeping or banning the death penalty was put on the table. Like all decisions on the topic, the viewpoints
My people regard themselves to being committed and having faith in a particular religion, but what does this mean exactly? To some people, it’s this expectation to take this leap into the unbelievable and if they didn’t they would be criticized or perhaps in less developed regions executed. Apprehension towards God is simply not even a question in some of these regions since their lives depend on it. With reasons like this, it seems to me that religion in itself is a sham to create this false sense of entitlement to the world as well as an unfair hope of an afterlife, so to me I can’t believe in faith based religion. In theory much like love, faith is this grand idea that someone could love something for no apparent reason other than to just to be infatuated with it. This couldn’t be farther from the truth though as no one in this world does something for nothing. There is always a motive to any one person’s actions whether for greed or self-comfort. It’s also possible that I have the whole idea wrong, since I’ve never been able to remove this discomfort that there is nothing more to life than to just be here.
Faith in Christ has given me a unique life filled with optimism and purpose. From a young age, I have been raised in a home where I was taught about the love of Christ. Not only at home did I learn about Christ, but at school and at church. Thus, my life has been filled with experiences that have amplified my faith. For example, when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, I found that my relationship with Christ grew. Through all of the difficult circumstances that I have faced, faith in Christ has given me the encouragement that I need to persevere through any situation. Additionally, faith has influenced my decision making, which is why I strive to make all my decisions and live my life according to faith-based principles. This means
Faith in philosophy focuses more on the belief that a higher power exists, and runs more with the Christian religion. Faith is what people call it when they believe that there is a greater being out there and we all have purpose according to their plan. Many people use faith as an explanation for events they cannot explain, or to get them through what feels like an impossible situation. For example, I once met a man who was very down on his luck. He had just moved here from Ecuador and within 4 months he had been laid off from his job. He had a wife and two small children and no way to take care of them. He had promised his
How is the term justification defined by scholars? What is your own definition based on your research?
Reason refers to a faculty of mind that allows human beings to make conscious decisions based on known evidence. It often entails the use of logic, detailed analyses, and critical thought. A reason in the sense of a validation for an argument refers to something different. Usually the reasons used to support an argument consist of personal beliefs, opinions, anecdotes, fears, financial motivations, or actual facts, data, and statistics.
Pope John Paul II once said, “Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth – in a word, to know himself – so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves.” (Fallible Blogma) Based on this significant and powerful quote, one can infer that faith and reason are directly associated and related. It can also be implied that the combination of faith and reason allows one to seek information and knowledge about truth and God; based on various class discussions and past academic teachings, it is understood that both faith and reason are the instruments that diverse parties
What is faith? Scripture tells us in Hebrews 11:1 that “Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (NIV) Faith means trusting that various situations will provide results best suited to help us in some way during our life. I’m sure others may have a different opinion; however, throughout my life, that has been the most accurate description.
Faith and reason were two modes of belief that dominated the history of Western Civilization. Both faith and reason were popularized as tools to understand the universe in Greco-Roman and Judeo-Christian eras. By conflicting with each other, these two modes of belief sparked a lot of controversy. Reason or rationality is belief based on concrete evidence and logic. The development of one’s reason relies heavily on observation and questioning. Greco-Roman philosophers believed in the power of the human mind to understand the world. So in order to find ultimate truth, Greco-Roman philosophers dedicated their lives to perfecting their reasoning skills and encouraged those around them to do the same. Contradictory to reason, faith is the
Faith and reason can be viewed as opposites. Faith is an element of belief, something an individual does not necessarily require a reason for accepting without reason. For example, an individual’s reason for believing in God may not seem too rational when they are trying to explain them. They may not even stand up to criticism. On the other hand, reason is constructed as a formula. Faith is basically something we believe in, like something we learn in church. Reason is something we learn in school, such as a math formula.
Religious Faith is our response to Gods unconditional love and our openness to having him work in our life in the way we present ourselves and how we treat others. It’s letting God love us and having a relationship with him in all parts of our life. Religious faith is not the same as human faith but is a result of Human faith. Human faith leads to religious faith but if you have a shaky human faith you will not have a strong religious faith. For example I know people who don’t have faith in God because they don’t have faith in humans and God
What is faith? Faith is something different to everyone. If you asked a hundred different people, it is possible that you would get many diverse answers. Religious faith and non-religious faith are two very distinct terms. Faith holds an extremely complex meaning when discussing it in the context of religion. Faith is a belief. That holds true to every religious and non-religious person. Every faith involves a decision. It is not about what we claim to believe, but what we actually do believe, that is true faith. Throughout this paper, I am going to discuss Christian faith, how it pertains to daily life and Christianity as a whole. I also intend to delve into George W. Forell's discussion of Christian faith and analyze and
