Fall of a Tragic and Heroic Character
In English literature, William Shakespeare is considered one of the greatest poet and a play writer. He wrote different kinds of plays which involved comedy, history, romance, and tragedy. Macbeth is one of the plays by Shakespeare about tragedy and how a person is consumed by this own thoughts and deeds. In this play, Shakespeare, through Macbeth, shows the commotion of both physical and mental effects of those who seek power and things a person is willing to do in order to achieve those goals. Due to the wrong doings of Macbeth and his wife, they both end up being death at the end of the play. The play clearly shows the craftiness of Shakespeare through demonstration of tragedy, darkness and deception.
The play, Macbeth, was set in Scotland. The play begins with the conversation of three witches and they plan to meet Macbeth to tell him about the prophecy involving his future. The witches predict that Macbeth will be made thane of Cawdor and end up being the King of Scotland. While Macbeth was learning about the prophecy, the King of Scotland decided to make Macbeth thane of Cawdor after the victory against the invading armies from Ireland and Norway. Macbeth knew that the prophecy by those three witches came true and he was excited about it. Later, those same three witches said to Macbeth that he will be King of Scotland and his friend, Banquo, will not be a King himself. In this way, Macbeth was played by those three witches and
