Gulf Shores Middle School- On January 13th, the students of Coach Cobb’s eighth grade classes did an experiment to see how far a barbie doll would drop based on the amount of rubber bands placed on its legs. The students were to bring barbies in, the Coach Cobb gave every group of students a barbie doll to use. Then the students were to tie a rubber band around its legs to keep them still, then tie more around that until there was a group of bands from two to six. After that the students were to put the last band on a ruler and drop the barbie, in the same way every time, off of their desks to see how far in meters the barbie would fall. The Carl Hayden Community High School was established at Phoenix in Arizona in 1957. It was well regarded and the provided of an off-site equestrian program. Park Middle is located in Scotch Plains, New Jersey and is one of two middle schools within the town. On average there are 930 students enrolled at Park over the past three years (See Appendix A, Table A1). Additionally, Scotch Plains’ population consists of 77.4% White citizens, but is also composed of 11.1% of African Americans, 7.7% Asian, and 6.7% Hispanic citizens (see Appendix B, Table B1). The town’s population is largely representative of the school’s demographics (see Appendix C, Graph C1). When referencing the school’s performance on district benchmarks and state testing, Park Middle School has met most of their established targets. Last year, at Kingsland High School’s Graduation Ceremony, Josie Hinze not only receiveed her High School Diploma, but also her Associates of Arts Degree before even attending any college or university. Fast-forward to one year later, and seven Kingsland students will be graduating high school with both their High School Diploma and AA Degree thanks to the collaboration of Riverland Community College and Kingsland High School for allowing high school students to take college-level courses in high school and receive college credit for them. The Rock Brook School, located in Skillman, NJ, is a private, non-profit school for Communication Impaired and Multiply Disabled children. The school provides services for children age 3-21. The school is approved by the New Jersey State Department of Education and received accreditation from the (MSCES). There are presently around 50 students from 25 different school districts throughout central New Jersey. The home school district is required to pay tuition, if placement is approved through the IEP (The 'Individualized Education Program) and the school district cannot provide the services needed for the child. SSCM Gilmore made an unannounced visit to Grovetown Middle School in Grovetown Ga to interview Kaydence Reliford. The interview included SSCM, Kaydence Reliford, and Ryan Brown (school counselor). Kaydence stated that her relationship with mom and dad is that she is able to talk with mom more than dad. She stated she is able to talk with her dad, but it is normally after school. She stated that her parents used to rarely argue; however, now they are arguing every night. She stated she rarely gets punished. She stated normally her punishments for discipline include, banned from television, or phone being taken away. She state she doesn’t get spanked much at all. All employees of Kelsey Middle School and administration utilize all methods of communication accessible to them, telephone, e-mail, written mail, and face-to-face to ensure they can provide a safe and appropriate education for all students. Haverstraw Elementary School is located in Rockland County, New York. Rockland County is a middle class neighborhood in a well mixed residential and commercial area. The surrounding neighborhoods include West Haverstraw, Thiells, Garnerville, and Stony Point. Haverstraw New York has a wide range of demographics and according to statistics has a population of about 12,060 people with the median age being 32 years old. The Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) chose Sharon High School (SHS), and 16 other schools, to participate in a state subsidized building process. Selected from a pool of 89 applicants, the MSBA prioritizes schools based on health & safety, overcrowding, and ADA concerns, among others. Sharon has a limited time to commit to renovate or build a new high school with a 40 – 45% subsidy from the state of MA.
I took a risk when I decided to apply for College of Southern Nevada High School. Taking classes that counted towards both high school and college credit appealed to me, but I knew that the courses would be demanding. I’ve had setbacks, but I’ve also had triumphs.

The case study of Ridgewood Middle School resonated with me in a positive manner. The elementary school where I teach, while not riddled with graffiti, shares many characteristics with the old Ridgewood. Our families struggle with extreme poverty and our community has the highest violent crime rate in the city. As I have mentioned previously our test scores are among not just the lowest in the city, but also the lowest in the state. We have an extremely high teacher turnover rate and I have worked with three different principals in three years. The teacher turnover rate would be even higher if new teachers were allowed to transfer. Consequently, we have students and some staff that simply do not want to be in our school. The successes of
Imagine the chaos that could come from students being able to write about whatever they want in the school newspaper. Things that could hurt other people's feelings by writing about them or creating stories that bring students to argue about their opinions. Students should be limited on what they can say in a school newspaper because it invades people's privacy, creates conflict, and affects kids education.
