Family support system Both parents are employed, but the main financial support comes from the father that has a full-time job (approximately $25,000 annually); the mother has a part-time job. The parents take their children to school. None of the grandparents have worked since they arrived from Cuba. Age-appropriate developmental tasks accomplishment The parents accomplished age-appropriate developmental tasks. They provide for family members’ needs, maintain a strong marital relationship, and promote their children school successes. Both children accomplished their physically, personally, and socially age developmental tasks appropriately. Nevertheless, grandparents are not adjusting well to their age developmental tasks regarding health and role changes. Family developmental stage This is an extended multigenerational family. The family’s developmental stage is influenced by the individual family member’s developmental stage, from children to grandparents. Each stage has its own challenges and achievements, “the emotional and intellectual stages you pass through from childhood to your retirement years as a member of a family are called the family life cycle” (Poinier & Romito, 2014). According to the family life cycle the nuclear family is in the parenting stage, and their children are their major concern.
