Fashion has always made a major impact when it comes to fashion designers and the way they have changed and influenced the way people dress from all over the world especially designers from France, Germany, Italy and Japan. Even though some of the most successful fashion designers all hail from overseas, Ralph Lauren is the exception out of the bunch with him coming from America. With his fashion line, Ralph Lauren has captivated the fashion world and pop culture with his innovation in luxury clothing. Having that vision and the ability to step into a fantasy world, Lauren without question, brought that to the fashion business. On October 14, 1939, Ralph Lifshitz was born in the Bronx, New York City. He is one of four siblings from his parents Frieda Cutler and Frank Lifshitz who were Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants who had ran away from the Republic of Belarus. His father Frank was an artist and a house-painter. Growing up in the Mosholu Parkway area of the family's adopted borough, Ralph became interested in clothing in the seventh grade. He also played basketball and baseball. At the age of 12, he worked after school to support his luxurious taste in clothing. He was known for selling ties that were hand-made to his fellow students that he went to school with but little did he know this would become the driving force of his entrepreneurial success as a fashion designer. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School in New York where he worked part-time for clothing department stores
