According to AAA and the federal government DOT, for every 5 mph increase in speed over 60 mph, fuel efficiency drops substantially. Every vehicle uses more fuel as speed increase. The result is more pollutants put into the environment, as well as more gasoline and diesel, derived from crude oil, is consumed, and American dependency on it increases. The faster vehicles go, the greater the chances of accidents. The higher the speed limit, the more people that are not comfortable driving at those speeds. This creates a need for more lane changing as faster cars pass slower ones. Which further enhances the risk of accident. Accidents at higher speeds, increases the chance of more serious injury or death. Hitting an animal on the road at 75mph, will more then double the chances of death to the driver and passengers, and causes more damage to the vehicle, then driving 60. Something as simple and common as a tire blowout, will severely reduce the drivers ability to maintain control.
Information: Experts say reducing highway speeds from 70 mph to 60 mph would reduce gasoline consumption between 2% and 3%. That could translate into a price reduction of as much as 10%. At today's price, almost 38 cents a gallon.
Driving under the influence and Distracted driving are the biggest ones, however reporting distracted driving is difficult in fatal crashes is difficult to determine since “information pointing to distraction is gathered through self-reporting, witness testimony, and evidence indicating distraction” (GHOS). Those two make up roughly 400 of the fatalities in 2015. Speeding is another huge cause for many crashes whether it’s from being reckless to just being distracted and not noticing. Speed plays a part in both of the other causes, and it played a part in 19% of crashes in 2015. A huge amount of these fatalities not only come between drivers, but also with a singular driver hitting and killing a pedestrian. Many things have been tried to reduce these major causes of the crashes such as stricter enforcement of speed and driving under the influence. Campaigns have been launched to reduce distracted driving, targeting those heavy phone users and even car manufacturers joining in.
Flying off of a four wheeler, through the dusty Barrow air, was a 16 year old praying he wouldn’t get hurt from his four wheeler crash. During the summer of 2016, I used the four wheeler to have fun, go from place to place, and hang out with friends. Throughout the time that I was in Barrow during the summer, I used a four wheeler as my transportation because I don’t have a license to drive a car and the DMV is always closed because no DMV workers will come to Barrow to work. Many people in Barrow drive four wheelers because there aren’t any paved roads here so you’re able to drive on any of the roads in Barrow. There aren’t any paved roads in Barrow because most of the people that live here would think that it would crack from the cold weather or maybe even from the permafrost all under the ground all over Barrow.
The act of speeding to get somewhere is only a feel good measure for anyone who does it. By doing the math the time that you save by going 75 MPH on the highway as opposed to going the posted 70 MPH speed limit saves you a total of 46 seconds for every 10 miles you travel. That means that there is a total of three and a half minutes that is saved over the course of a five hour long trip. These staggeringly unrealizable numbers that are shown are evidence that speeding only increases your chances of causing a crash on the road and not decrease the time you spend on it. Also by the laws of physics a average sized car takes 20 meters to stop in dry conditions at a
Why are speed limits important? Speed limits are important because they keep everyone on the road at a safe and steady speed. Imagine you're on the highway driving 65 miles per hour, the speed limit; and a car races past you. They have to be going 80 to 85 miles per hour, or possibly more. Up ahead of you, they get into a collision. This happens every day which is far too often. Speed limits are necessary for control and safety.
"A pursuit is probably the most unique and dangerous job law enforcement can do," said Tulsa Police Maj. Travis Yates, who is responsible for a national pursuit-training center. Actually High-speed pursuit driving is a hazardous activity which law enforcement officers have to deal with its characteristics. Stress, verbal and imaginary task, as important part of pursuit drivers would affect their scanning patterns. Crundell, Chapman, France underwood and Philips studied visual attention of pursuit drivers and tried to figure out what attract attention of law enforcement officers. Pursuit drivers are trained to keep active visual search during car following driving. As, chasing a vehicle and focusing on an individual prolonged hazard might lead
Reckless or negligent driving. Speeding and aggressive driving to get to an open parking space, distracted driving while texting or looking for a space, and failure to observe signs all contribute to cars injuring
People around the world watch in awe as the speedy racers fly through a plethora of different of obstacles. Raging fans will fill the stadium to the brim. Intensity will be in the air and so will the suspense. The race will start with no clue as to who will come out on top. Racing at speeds of up to 70 MPH, the drones will be speeding through the stadium, exciting fans of all ethics and ages. The drones coming around the corner and WHAM, two of the leaders collide and go down in a heap. The crowd erupts, the stadium is renewed with even more excitement as the racers come upon the last lap. The speeding drones are neck and neck, the crowd is silent in suspense. The drone is flying very close to a wall, maybe a little too close.
Even though it is an important skill to learn, only around 25% of americans are able to drive standard. The difference between a standard car, also called a manual car, and an automatic car is that with a standard car you are able to control when the transmission switches gears. Usually, there are 6 different options when driving a standard car: 1st gear, 2nd gear, 3rd gear, 4th gear, 5th gear and reverse. The first couple gears are classified as ¨the power gears,¨ because those gears produce the most power the fastest. Even though they produce more power than other gears, they require to be shifted faster due to the RPMs. RPMs stand for revolutions per minute and the RPM gauge tells you how many revolutions the engine makes
One thing I did this summer is go racing every Saturday. My Dad and brother race Pure Streets. That class is like a high speed demolition derby anymore. And there are cheaters that race that are all buddy buddy with the track owner, so they always get there way. And they drive dirty. They like to run their mouths and take out our cars when we don’t do anything to them.
All car driver can be grouped into 3 classes based on the driver. The speedster, The neutral driver, and the caution driver. The speedster is the one who always feel the need to speed running stop signs, red lights with no regard for the of the road law. The caution driver is always letting the other drivers over and stick to the rule of the road into making sure they have a safe trip from place to place. The neutral driver is a mix of both of the caution driver and the speedster the neutral driver knows when to speed, slow down, and follow the law of the road. There are many more types of driver, however, we are just focusing on the three types as followed the speedster, The neutral driver, and the caution driver.
Going fast does not help. It goes without saying: when you see drivers speeding past you or cut your lane so that they can beat you to the next stoplight. It simply doesn’t pay to speed. This is especially true if you get a ticket from the police, your insurance goes higher, and perhaps loses your license, too. Or even worst it will take you years of dangerous speeding to make up this time alone in the jail. In a word we should get into the good habit of safe driving. As the proverb saying on your car’s license plate: “It starts with you”. There is no doubt that the problem is within us. I am of the opinion that you should take responsibilities, rather than others take responsibilities for you. Often we blame other people for being an asshole; if everyone in the car can be patient and peaceful, then there will be less accident on the street and everyone will get home safely. During the course of your lifetime, you are probably going to spend a great deal of time driving. However you can spend those moments being frustrated, or you can use them wisely. If you do the latter, you will be a more relaxed person.
Some major factors that may be playing a role in car accidents and collisions include the increase in the number of drivers on the road, distracted driving, over-reliance on advanced car technologies such as backup cameras and lane-change sensors and driving under the influence
Many of today’s drivers have bad dangerous habits. The number of road accidents has increased immensely. Reckless driving habits causes majority of these accidents. Many of today’s drivers have dangerous driving habits. In our day-to-day lives, you will ultimately cross paths with a careless driver. Some people survive these accidents while others do not. Reckless driving can be seen all the time. These drivers do not only put their lives in danger but also the lives of other innocent people.
The very concern about speed limits for highways is safety. People anticipate that if there is no speed limit on all the highways, the highways will be
