Fate is the most influential factor in the play of Romeo and Juliet because it was responsible for the couple's heartbreaking tragedy. By fate, the pair meet each other while the stars are crossed, cursing them with a dreadful fortune. Because of fate, the two young lovers meet each other in the first place and for that moment, Romeo and Juliet these unaware "star-crossed lovers" are bound to death. In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, the impression that Romeo and Juliet's death is brought about by cruel overwhelming fate is true, because it is not a coincidence that Romeo meets Juliet at the Capulet party, the pair of star-crossed lovers are the offspring of sworn enemies, and Friar Lawrence's plan was bound to fail. For example, instead of Romeo getting word from the Friar fate caused Balthasar give Romeo inaccurate information by saying about Juliet's that "her body sleeps in Capel's monument, and her immortal part with angels lives". Though it seems like an accident that Balthasar is the one to tell Romeo about Juliet's death, it is more likely that fate had a greater influence in the communication about Juliet's false death. By fate, Balthasar comes to Romeo and tells him what he has witness. Friar Lawrence's plan is also ruined because Friar John is unable to deliver the critical message to Romeo. He tells that Friar that "[he] could not send it (here it is again), nor get a messenger to bring it thee, so fearful were they of infection". Because Friar Lawrence's message plans an important part to the plan he creates, the fact that it is never sent proves to be a deadly factor in the play. Romeo, not knowing that Juliet is not really dead, he decides that he can not live without her because he is rash, which leads him to his impending death.
