America was once feared by every other country regarding everything, but now the only thing America is still superior in is the military, other countries have caught up or even surpassed us in every other category. Other countries have proven to be superior than America in various things such as school. In 2012, America was ranked 26th compared to other countries when regarding test scores. This is due to better curriculum and preparing students better for their future in other countries. It is an extremely large issue that the United States have dropped so far down in the rankings. Also, America has a very large obesity rate at 35 percent of the population being obese. This is due to the lack of physical activity which some people have. Most
In Creating America, Joyce Moser and Ann Watters suggest that, “In understanding American identities, we need to come to terms with unity and division, with separateness and common ground” (Page 1). Moser and Watters is explaining that America is a world of contradiction. We are given two options but we cannot choose one side because we are given both options without asking or having to take part in such decisions. For example, we want peace, yet we cause war. We are known to be the land of equality, yet we still fight for equality. We judge one another because of our looks, our religion, our appearances, etc., yet we tell ourselves to not judge one another. These actions are inevitable because we are accustomed to it or we have no say. Moser
In 2013, The United States spent over $737 billion on its military, at a time where the country is in an economic crisis. The United States spends more money on the military then most of the world combined, it’s no secret that the U.S is known as the world’s police. What are the consequences that will come with this, the American citizens are already feeling the effects of modern imperialism. In order to maintain the world police status, the United Sates continues to make cuts toward the infrastructure and the economy. American roadways, schools, social services, emergency services and the environment are
The connection between the Virtues Franklin discusses in his writings and the "American" values definitely defer in modern day America but compare in some ways. The first example that I noticed was in the "The Way to Wealth" section, from one of the quotes of "Poor Richard Almanac" The line discusses the mindset that people should have towards working. The quote reads, "Drive thy business, let not that drive thee, and early to bed, and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." (Franklin 459). This connection connects to some Americans who have worked hard to make business and basically coming from nothing. This also connects to America because it differs from some lazy Americans who try to find ways to become rich without doing
Donald trump will not be an effective president because he is a racist. He started on live television that all Mexicans will be deported if he was elected president, so if a person is illegally in these united states, they will be deported. He also said on television that he would build a wall to keep out the Mexicans that would try to come back to the united states. He said that “when Mexicans sends its people, they’re not sending the best they’re not sending
The topic that I've chosen is "Postwar America", because the country is changing, houses built alike, and America produces more and cheaper goods. Postwar means relating to or the characteristic of a period following a war. The Postwar America began in 1946 and returning veterans faced a severe housing shortage. Meeting economic challenges were hard, because their lives had been in uproar throughout the war, and aspiration for stability made the country more conservative. Social unrest persists, because problems began to surface not only in the economy but also in the fabric of society. Also, after WWII, a wave of racial violence erupted in the South.
Throughout history, America has been put to the test time and time again. We have endured a revolution, two world wars, a Great Depression, and we pulled ourselves back together after nearly being torn in half by a horrific civil war. But if there is one thing that we can learn from this, it is that progress can only be made through struggle. The struggle that I speak of is that which our founding fathers fought to form this great nation, the brave struggle fought by slaves to gain their freedom, the struggle that Martin Luther King, Jr. fought for civil rights, and the heroic struggle that was fought on the golden sands and blood-stained beaches of Normandy. All of these struggles were fought with the spirit of change
“You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.” Abraham Lincoln. My responsibility to America is to take responsibility. Being a teen, I think many teenagers believe that we cannot impact on our community and don’t need to take responsibility till we turn eighteen. Of course I can mess around for my whole life until becoming an adult, and instantly stop and become mature. Not exactly, we can start having an impact in our cities or even our whole country if we realize we don’t need to be irresponsible like media conditions us to believe.
Secondly, Donald Trump is racist. Trump is racist because he does not like brown people, black people and all other types of people except white. This is a really big problem for America because the previous presidents of America have worked really hard to maintain the alliance with other countries and trump will create a war between countries all over the world.
In order to run a successful political campaign, you firstly need to start with a strong candidate. As you know, Donald Trump is currently our president. Although he won the election, there are many flaws that are prevalent within his campaign. He comes across as a weak candidate with little to offer as the president.
According to Brodwin (2015) in his article “Unsustainable America” discuss the consumers are very important to improve the environmental sustainability. In addition the consumer’s ability to affect sustainability. Therefore, consumers prefer to choose their power from environmental sustainability. They are two country tray to improve the environmental sustainability which are India and China. On the other side, one country doesn’t improve the environmental sustainability which is America.
The first story i am referencing is called Reconstructing America. The story kind of reminds me of how people back then of how they were “getting through life”, as easy as we have it nowadays it’s not really that difficult to them to live like we live now and we live like they would back then to us is almost “mistreating”. We are not certain that we would be able to live well enough to stay on our own like they did back roughly 50 years ago.
I fell in love with America through hearing about it, its people, their progress, freedom, equality, and provision of services to the whole world without distinction. America's success is the product of its scientific, cultural, social and economic liberty, social justice and non-discrimination on grounds of color, religion, gender and universal equality before the law, and that reflects its reciprocity everywhere in the world in terms of military and educational freedom.
Differences are the key to the development of the United States of America. The reason why we think this is because everybody's thoughts and personalities are different. Even there race is different. In the United States Of America, there are tons of different races. There are Asians, Mexicans, Japanese, African Americans, Whites and the list continues, there are many different races in the world. If there was a list of people's personalities, then that list would never end because no one person is the same. they think differently, they look different, they look at things in their own way if everyone was the same as seen things the same way there would be no creativity in the world. The world woube very boring. and what is the fun in that?
The United States of America is defined by various documents that display the values and ideas that the United States stands behind. These documents, while numerous and varying in topic, share many common themes and ideas. Topics for these documents have also been formed by sources not from the United States such as the Enlightenment or the English Bill of Rights. Understanding these connections is important as they are a major part of American history. By understanding these connections you can better understand not just the history of the United States, but also the history of the world. Connections such as those between the Enlightenment and the U.S. Constitution, the Northwest Ordinance and the Bill of Rights, plus the Magna Carta and
