Ever since I was a young boy, there was always something I wanted to do. I t was not skydiving, alligator fighting, or meeting a famous person. I always had the desire to twist balloons to make them into animal looking figures. FedEx Fridays gave me the time and motivation to do this. FedEx Friday is a project where over a span of seven weeks where you choose to attempt something you have never done with a goal set for yourself. First, I chose to make balloon animals for this project. I chose this because when I was younger my family would go to the restaurant, CPK, every time we went there was a clown twisting balloons. Every time I went I was lured in with his optimism. I would then force my brother to get me a dog or a sword. Then one day
Practice the traditional dot-style of boomerang art and make the shape of an animal on the boomerang.
Page 2 The projects in this book use the same basic shapes. You can make 1 copy of the shapes for each child or group of students. Use the shapes to make more than 20 art projects from February - June. General Instructions: 1.
Lily’s and mine egg drop project was made with a plastic container, with sponges, zip ties and balloons. We put the sponges in the container a put the egg in there. We had the egg in the middle, so the egg would not move around. We put zip ties around it to keep the top on and we tied the balloons on to the zip ties, the zip ties were around the contain.
By capitalizing on this strategy, FedEx was able to boost its average delivery volume in 1976 to 20,726 packages per day via its three services, Priority-One, Standard Air, and Courier Pack, compared with an average of 10,521 delivered daily the prior year. Clearly the company’s calculated use of strategically-located hubs, nighttime flight routes, and limited package size allowed the company to carve out a niche by reliably delivering packages on an immediate, overnight basis.
Audience Relevancy: Learning how to make balloon animals is cheap, entertaining, and can be shared with other people.

In the past there was no thing as overnight express delivery for packages or freight. Then the top 3 competitors in the delivery service industry that held 85% of the market were Airborne Express (AE), United Parcel Service (UPS) and Federal Express (FedEx) and, the remaining market share was among six second-tier companies. In the past few years, the express mail businesses had grown extremely fast due to the ability to provide and fulfill overnight shipping accompanied by next-morning delivery services for both individuals and businesses customers. By 1996, this segment of the expedited shipment delivery had grown to a $16-17 billion dollar industry business in the US alone.
This project was about American Romantic ideals. The ideals many authors represent are about being creating, emotional and expressing oneself. To represent this we had to create something out of garbage with the exception of an adhesive. We could have created anything: a giant object, a strange image, or etc. But no. We created a fish. I we used plastic since it was the easiest littering material to find. That is the very core of romanticism. To be creative, to be weird, to be original. And once we were done there was still more to do because we named him Vince. We gave him a story and a secret identity of Dirty Fin. We made a story that we love to tell because we express ourselves, we emotionally invested, and we created something were proud
Based on similar issues in the past many have sued their employers for discrimination and won due to their beliefs. For example, Sikh men have beards and many employers have discriminated against them for something they believed in. For Christopher Polk he grew dreads because he wanted to practice Rastafarian beliefs which falls under the same category as the Sikh men who wore beards. Mr. Polk should most definitely be able to have dreads even though there is a grooming policy in place with his employer. FedEx policy stated “reasonable styles” which indicated that different styles other than long straight hair or ponytails are the only “reasonable styles” are acceptable. Given that Mr. Polk was hired then fired by the same company should tell
In the case of Mr. Polk and others like him, if the reason for wearing dreadlocks is truly due to religious reasons, then they should be allowed. However, those choosing to wear dreadlocks or other hairstyles for fashionable purposes should have to abide by the grooming policy set forth by an organization. In order to avoid a discrimination lawsuit, employers have to be careful in the handling of these situations. Individuals are protected under the Equal Employment Opportunity Act which states that “employees and job applicants cannot be discriminated against due to race, gender, religion or other characteristics not related to job qualifications or performance” (Bethel University, 2013, p.61). FedEx’s grooming policy stated that the following
The competition is high in regards to transportation and logistics industries. One of the world's top shipping companies is FedEx. Some of its organizational goals include adding high value to all shareholders, including customers and employees, as well as providing logistics needs for companies around the globe in a fast and cost effective manner. In order to meet these goals, the company must set standards to adhere to in regards to evaluating and measuring performance.
In the case of Mr. Polk, a FedEx employee who was accused of violating a “reasonable style”, and who was eventually terminated in doing so raises some questions for me. I have seen many employee handbooks that have very vague and leave much room for a flexible interpretation. This would be another example of this as what is a reasonable style? I personally do not see a violation based upon that explanation as Mr. Polk was following a religion practice that he believed in, and has the right to do so. Putting myself in the shoes of management in HR, I would want my employees to feel free to express their beliefs, and obviously within reason, but I would have much clearer guidelines on what reasonable is. For example, I believe that as long as the employees give a professional appearance, attitude, and represent the company well then there would not be a violation. With a company worked for just within the last four years there
This project is called Geometric, which I will use squares, lines, and circles inside my work. Geometric really interested me because it is made out of lines and curves but it can simple shape and it could also be really complicated. Geometric are easy to change, it could be anything.
One organization that has a program with respect to community involvement is FedEx. This company's community involvement takes a number of different forms. At the basic level, the company encourages its employees to make contributions to their local communities. There is no formal program to reward volunteer work, but it is encouraged among the company's employees.
Gardens are beautiful on their own, but some of us cannot avoid the inclination to accessorize. To bring your garden to its full potential, you must develop its full aesthetic value. There 's numerous little projects you can do by yourself or with the family, to add colorful and quirky visual interest throughout the garden. Mobiles can be made from an array of materials. Since it will be hanging it outside, make sure the material is waterproof. Foam is a smart choice because it is weather resistant, malleable, and kid friendly. Foam sheets are very inexpensive and come in most colors. Some foam comes in precut shapes. They even have foam letters. If the shape you want is available precut, it will be easier than cutting yourself. Foam is difficult to cut to a smooth edge. Foam sheets often come pre-glued. If your materials are not, you can use PVA glue or hot glue. You will need to glue your shapes or light weight trinkets on your string or thread. You may want to consider incorporating a picture. Foam picture frames are available in most art centers and you could laminate the picture. This project has an abundance of creative potential. This can create single strand color burst hanging around your garden. You can do themed pieces for different areas of the garden. For instance, use bright colors and butterfly shapes to hang in the butterfly garden. Hanging pieces are important because it keeps visual interest continuing from ground level to eye level. Keeping ground
