Because of the vast society we live in, people have to make choices which can affect their lives both socially and morally. The social choices can affect individuals and their perception on people and the world around them. These choices tend to be based on the way an individual has formed in society. Moral choices tend to affect the individual and the people close to them as it can affect the way they respond to different aspects of society such a caring for others. In the MT Anderson novel ‘Feed’, the protagonist Titus has to make both social and moral choices to advance and respond to people. Another text which demonstrates people making social and moral choices is the Ben Stiller film ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ which depicts the …show more content…
Being that Titus has the feed installed in his brain, he finds it difficult to make decisions on his own and relies heavily for support. This is seen with First Person POV “the feed was doing this” shows the impact of the feed and how it controls ones identity and choices made. When Titus sees Violet suffering, he attempts to free the feed and help Violet stay alive and overcome the issues of the feed. However, because of the lack of knowledge without the feed and its power, Titus deletes Violets memories and thus loses her as a friend. This is seen through Violet’s colloquial first point of view “You are such a shithead”. The reader then notices the impact Titus’ social choices have had on the society he is part of and other individuals around …show more content…
Titus tends to put himself first and be disrespectful to others and their needs. Violet believed this was because of his rich nature as seen with “a present from mummy and daddy” which demonstrates the extensive resources to help Titus make moral choices. The audience then sees that Violet and Titus have a different view on society, thus making it difficult to make the same and correct moral choices. A moral choice made by Titus was seen by an intertextual quote of “intercrucial or oral, aint a choice of moral”. The quote could be foreshadowing the intensive moral choices Titus will have to make when with the feed. As a result, the reader then waits for a moral choice to be made by Titus and this choice will be based on the way he was brought up in
The movie Instructions Not Included is shown off as a Mexican, sweet and cheesy chick flick through its previews. This movie is not just comedy, cute, witty, funny, but also contains extremely powerful messages through a truly heart-warming story. The movie follows a resident playboy in Mexico named Valentine. Valentine's life is flipped upside down when his former girlfriend leaves her baby Maggie on his door step, making him believe it's his. He leaves Mexico in search of the baby's mother to a hotel where she is working as a lifeguard in Los Angeles. At the hotel there is no sight of Maggie's mother. An incident occurs where Maggie in drowning in the pool and Valentine jumps off a balcony on the second story, into the pool to save his daughter. There is where he is offered a job as a stuntman.
Negative word choice such as “evil”, “bad”, and “controlling”, forces the story to take on the idea that future will be gloomy, dark, and oppressive. This diction causes direction opposition to the dream most people hold true in their hearts: A bright and beautiful feature. Titus’s diction supports the mood of foreboding in a different manner. It is known that education is highly valued to people today (or hopefully is). The simple diction we see in Titus raises cause for concern. Words and phrases like “da da da”, “I mean”, “all this stuff” show Titus is not educated to the standards we hold today. Along with a poor excuse for a vocabulary Titus is also repetitive, saying “like” more than once in the same sentence. The idea that our future generations will not be educated enough to properly explain key elements of their own society and way of life raises cause for concern, making the reader feel an uncomfortable possibility that this could indeed happen. M.T Anderson crafts the mood of this scene through diction and the casual appearance of who really controls people in the future, corporations. He chooses the mood of foreboding for this scene because it reflects the rest of the novel, the point being to make the reader aware of the similarities between modern times and this conception
Adding to the consequence of first born sons in Titus Andronicus is the fact that the play opens with Caesar’s eldest son, Saturninus. Saturninus is asserting his right to rule Rome. He exclaims, “Plead my successive title with your swords/I am his firstborn son that was the last,” in an effort to remind the Romans that he is in the rightful position to succeed his father as he is the eldest (Shakespeare 1.14-5). The fact that Bassianus attempts to take the throne from his older brother, Saturninus, creates immediate friction and intrigue, even in present times, because society continues to accept the elevated position of first born sons.
Imagine you and your group of friends were responsible for a man's life who desperately sought for help, but your group mocked or even ignored him instead. This was the major plot that occurred in the story "The Man in the Well" by Ira Sher. An interesting theme of this story is that groups of people tend to act based on their groups impulse and not their own. Though the negative effect of peer pressure might be the cause of why groups, cliques, and gangs do what they do, their behavior alone tends to be much different than when they are alone. It's as if each character themselves goes through a sudden temporary transformation. However, an interesting p three key concepts, which are personality, actions, and decisions, tend to be influenced
• Audience: Feed was written for a young teen audience because in the first few chapters of the book there is evidence of teenage slang such as “null” which means bored or boring. Other evidence that points that the book is for a teen audience is when the moon trip is described as having “rockiness and the suckiness” by the main character. Also most of the characters in the book want to fit in like most teens because in the chapter the nose grid it talks about how Quendy, a teen female character in the book, says, “Omigod! Like big thanks to everyone for not telling me that my lesion is like meg completely spreading.” • Purpose:
Throughout the film Do the Right Thing, we continuously observe racial conflict that builds up to such an extreme point that it leads to a fight for power. This movie portrays the struggles and realities of a neighborhood with white and black African American people. This can be seen in many instances for example when Buggin ' Out, Radio Raheem, and Smiley march into Sal 's and demand that Sal change the Wall of Fame. Another vital instance shows the height of power struggle. It is when the huge fight starts in the street and results in Raheem being killed by a white police officer.

In Act III Scene I, Titus Andronicus cuts off his hand because he made a deal to exchange his hand for his sons Quintus and Martius who were framed for the murder of Bassianus (III. 1. 266-287). Aaron in a later scene states, “I trained thy brethren to that guileful hole where the dead corpse of Bassianus lay,” (V. 1. 106-107). A messenger then enters with the heads of Quintus and Martius because the deal was abandoned. This causes Titus to make a speech about how this action will make him stronger and not break him.

People interact with each other on a day to day basis, often times revealing more about who they are about a person and what they believe to be right and wrong. The author of “The Palace Thief”, Canin, strategically uses character interactions to evolve a central idea. Morals are a debatable subject because not everyone has a moral code and not everyone follows their moral code as closely as they think they do. The environment in which people grow up and live in for a long period of time affects how strictly they follow their morals, if some people grow up never following their morals, in the future they also aren’t going to follow their morals. Canin utilizes character interactions to support the overall central idea that whether or not we have a moral code, it is set early on in life.
