Personal Beliefs

One of the people with the biggest influences on my personal education philosophy is Paulo Freire. The major theme throughout his book, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, is how important it is for people to dialogue with one another (Freire, 1970). Dialogue, to Paulo Freire (1970), means acknowledging that both parties are human beings with equally valid life experiences, and both of whom are worthy of love and respect. His theory is not only a philosophy, but an action plan. I believe that he is right about how bad the 'Banking Model of Education' is for students (Freire, 1970).
