Felix Lindholm was just another Swedish engineer. He woke up and tinkered with his tools until night, when he would go back home to his mistress. He lived in a small cottage up in Northern Sweden. Everything was so secluded and calm, the residents were sure that nothing could happen to them. That is, until the robot uprising attacked. The whole area never let their guard down, yet they were not sure what to expect. Felix wakes up at the crack of dawn, per usual. As he goes through his daily routine, he reads the newspaper. He was shocked to read the headline “OMNIC ON THE LOOSE? OR JUST ANOTHER FALSE ALARM?” This is an SST Laboratories e54 omnic, a real nasty piece of work. Even the best militaries in the world had trouble with them. His …show more content…
“The military is dragging its feet. They think these reports are just a hoax. We do not need their help to handle this monster. We have rifles. We can take them ourselves and track down --” “Rifles? Bah! Might as well throw rocks at the thing.” Felix interrupts. “I will be the one who is going to take care of this beast for you.” “So what makes you think you can beat it? Have you fought them before?” Kjellberg asks. “Something like that. I know these things inside and out.” As an expert engineer, Felix used to create the omnics before the uprising. He then goes on to explain how he can stop this omnic. “This e54 has been sighted a number of times, but it has not attacked anyone yet. That means it is damaged. Its self-repair function is probably busted, too. I can deal with a broken bot. All I need is a few days. The rest of you stay here, where it is …show more content…
Turn around bub.” Felix then opens up the back panel of the omnic to find its fusion core has turned from red to blue. He arranges the red, black, and blue wires so that the omnic stays in its passive mode. Felix reaches for his walkie-talkie and connects to the mayor. “Call off the hunt. I am not telling you again.” He says. “You might not want to do that. I did some digging, you helped create those omnics. That is a federal offense, Felix Lindholm. Do you not have enough blood on your hands?” Kjellberg asks. Felix sets off the bait next to the mayor which tied him to a nearby tree. “Enough for a
Decisions are what direct a average person's life. Some decisions are easy some are hard. But that’s the way of life and how it works.
Ned Begay transformed himself throughout the book from a sad, lost, and frustrated child to a prideful, confident, and highly respected leader. When Ned’s uncle brought him to the mission school, Ned was nervous and uneasy. He didn’t know what to expect even though his uncle tried to prepare him, and he felt sad and alone once his uncle left. “So I was left standing there, a sad little boy holding tight against my chest the thin blanket in which my few belongings were tied.” (Bruchac 12).
1. An earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, as power, honor, fame, or wealth, and the willingness to strive for its attainment
Knowledge plays an incredibly large part of Mary Shelly’s novel, Frankenstein. I think that Victor’s obsessive and unhealthy search for knowledge is the true cause of his suffering. Not only does he neglect his friends and family while working to create the monster he puts his own health in danger. “I had worked hard for nearly two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body. For this I had deprived myself of rest and health.” In this quote we see that Victor stops at nothing to find if he would be successful with his creation. Victor has made this project such a main priority that once it is completed and the creature comes to life he does not know what to do. Since Victor has met his goals and done what he said he wanted to do he does not want to deal with the being he just created so this becomes a problem for him. We see that Victor was very troubled by this whole experience when he says, “You seek for knowledge and wisdom, as I once did; and I ardently hope that the gratification of your wishes may not be a serpent to sting you, as mine has been.”
Once this machine is completed, the others won't care but, Ethan's OCD with make him explode into
Jack Mandelbaum is the main character of Surviving Hitler by Andrea Warren. In the book, he displays many character traits. Jack displays himself as being both athletic and hopeful in the book. When Jack was a young boy he would ride his bicycle with his friends as much as he could. In the book it states, “‘...I even entered bicycle races… once I won third place’” (Warren 11). Jack loved riding his bicycle and that helped him gain his athletic trait. Athleticism will aid Jack in surviving the camp by allowing his body to endure more than average physical labor. By being able to endure more labor he will get tired later rather than sooner, this way he will not be as fatigued when it comes to the next day's’ work and etc. Other than just being
This is a quote from Theodore Weiland in chapter nineteen. After he murders his children and wife no one is exactly sure why he did it, including Theodore. He hears voices that he thinks were God so he listened to them and sacrificed his family for God. Those voices were really Carwin, and it seems like those voices are what influenced him to kill his family. I think the quote “but my knowledge has always stopped short of certainty” shows that even Theodore wasn’t sure what he was doing. We know that he has a strong religious faith, and will do anything to please God, but I still think he wondered if those voices were actually God. I think he also wondered whether killing his family was taking his loyalty towards God too far. I think common
What would you do if you were in a family crisis and given a 10,000 for your family member passing away? In the play Walter Younger goes through many different moral problems and has bad ego due to the money that has been given to the family. In this play during the late 1950s, there was a lot of racial problems, black skin color was discriminated and abused. Walter younger shows that he cares more about money rather than caring about his families care and well being. He rather open up a liquor store to get more money and keep his family living in the ran down apartment not thinking about all of the bad stuff that can possibly happen to his kin. Throughout this book making this a great mood changing book to read many sequal of events happen throughout the book.
The holocaust was a terrible period of punishment and abuse for many who were discriminated against, especially the jews. One of these jews was Elie Wiesel. He is the author of the book Night a autobiography on his life as a Jew in the Holocaust. Throughout the book Elie displayed many traits. Elie’s traits include loyalty, determination, and religiousness. The characterization of Elie the protagonist and the other characters plays a role in creating and supporting a theme in the novel Night. From reading the novel we can tell that Elie Wiesel's night shows that the holocaust was a very difficult time for jews and that it made them lose faith in god.
“Bartleby is blind but he sees. The lawyer has eyesight but he is blind. Unlike Bartleby, he does not know where he is. He is in prison without knowing it. He has learned nothing. He has gained no insight into himself or into his society, and he has gained no understanding of Bartleby’s rebellion. He has denied his own capacity to love. What remains is only the sentimentality that emerges in his final words of pity and self-pity. “Ah Bartleby! Ah Humanity!” (Melville, p. 45) (Shulman, p. 22)
In the novel “Lord of the Flies” there are two kinds of leaders that are being loved or feared which is Ralph and Jack. From a leader’s perspective, the two boys are both infectious and full of authority. However, I cherish the belief that as a leader it is better to be loved than to be feared, and this lead to a further and deeper discussion.
In the book Michael Vey Rise Of The Elgen, the main character Michael Vey has some sort of electrical powers that gives him the ability to be a human magnet, throw balls of lightning and he can shock people way more than you can shock someone by rubbing your feet against a carpet floor. But he's not the only one with these type of abilities. There are 23 other kids that have similar powers. Some (as in the ones I mention in the next paragraph)of the electric children hate this guy named Hatch because who works with the elgen. A electrical company that works against the government. Hatch try’s takes the kidnaps the kids at a young age and makes them forget their real names and their parents kinda like The Maze Runner but the human population not in danger. Hatch is power hungry he
Mary Shelley’s book, Frankenstein, demonstrates that there can be a hero in any story. Even in a story with so much terror and tragedy. In the book, Dr. Frankenstein’s intentions, some actions, and parts of his personality all make him a hero figure. Dr. Frankenstein’s creature doesn’t fit the criteria of being a hero. Being a hero takes courage, selflessness, humility, patience, and being caring.
Night is filled with a multitude of memorable and meaningful quotes. Elie Wiesel’s words speak about the horrors, feelings, and questions that many victims of the Holocaust had.
Benjamin Franklin In this world there is nothing certain but death and taxes. This is a quote by Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin had many quotes throughout his time that made him stand out in his generation.
