This way of viewing the tiniest of gendered assumptions may be connected to a philosophy known as feminist theory. Feminist theory is a way of looking at the world and how it perceives women, examining their societal roles, expectations, and disadvantages as a result of discrimination. Throughout the generations, philosophers, artists, and authors, such as but not limited to Mary Wollstonecraft, Frida Kahlo, and Margaret Atwood have chosen to observe and bring rise to the issues that create gender inequality, and their contributions continuously reshape feminism to what it has become in modern times: a way of living.

Gender inequality in the sports world is unfair to women on how they can not play a male dominated sport. If there is a women 's sport it is less participated than a male sport would be. Women in sports are underpaid. Women who play sports are paid more attention if they wear provocative clothes. Men get the most attention and money from people who involve their self with sports. The sports world is very sexist and give males more opportunities to do bigger and better things.

Our society has always been believed to be patriarchal society, with female inequality in representative roles, the absence of a female president and the misogynistic opinion of some men to prove it. In fact, Socrates stated that “Once made equal to a man, woman becomes his superior” which is exactly what Mycenaean men feared most. Despite an increase of feminist discourse in the mainstream media, American society continues to view feminism as a dirty word and feminists as radicals. These stereotypes have caused negative perceptions of women who identify as feminists. The man-hating, bra burning, angry feminist stereotype is seen as the default of feminism. This is completely contrary to the reality of feminism and furthers the oppression of women by continuing to disregard their voices. Equality is a major topic of discussion amongst academics and the wider population as a whole. Different groups have been fighting for equal rights in many different ways in many different organisations, with varying success for the last century and beyond. In a business/managerial sense, there is much debate about the gaps between certain social groups regarding the roles in which they occupy within an organisation, with a considerable amount of literature focussing on the space between men and women, namely the gender pay gap and ‘the glass ceiling’.

In this paper I am going to show how Gloria Anzaldua has impacted racial and gender equality in her lifetime and, even though there is still as much inequality today as there was when Anzaldua was alive, her works are very useful in acquiring the tools to combat America’s social standards on race and gender. I am going to elaborate on how Americans can stop discriminating and become more open-minded to other race and gender identities by using Anzaldúa’s ideals, and relate these suggestions to the classroom text: Brenda Allen’s Difference Matters: Communicating Social Identity.
