My favourite constellation is Orion (the hunter). I chose this constellation because I am very interested in Greek mythology (which is where the story of this constellation comes from), and I often see this constellation in the night sky. Orion can be found throughout the world and is on the celestial equator. It is one of the most well-known constellations in the sky. Orion is most clearly visible from February to November. This constellation is comprised mainly of 7 stars - three make up Orion's belt, two make up his feet, and two make up his shoulders. Alnilam, Mintaka and Alnitak are the three stars in Orion's belt, Betelgeuse is his right shoulder, Bellatrix is his left shoulder, Rigel is his left foot and Saiph is his right foot. Apollo decided to intervene, and he sent a giant scorpion to kill Orion. Even though he was a very skilled huntsman, he was unable to defeat the scorpion, and he died. When Artemis found out, she was heart-broken, and in order to maintain his memory and legacy, she placed him among the stars in a constellation. One day, the great huntsman Orion was out looking for prey in a forest. Out of the corner of his eye, he glimpsed a flash of white. He turned around extremely slowly, while at the same time readying his bow and nocking an arrow. There in front of him was a magnificent white stag. It did not move, but gazed at him, as if daring him to shoot. Suddenly, within his mind, Orion heard a voice. "You have the opportunity to kill me, to take me as your own. But be aware that the consequences will be great. You will have the feeling of success as you take my life, but the loss of a life must be repaid in kind." Orion realised the voice was coming from the stag. He had heard before of the magical powers of white stags, but he decided to not heed the words of the majestic creature. He took aim, and loosed his bow. His arrow flew through the air. Just as it was about
The handsome giant Orion was a companion of the goddess but her jealous brother Apollon tricked her into killing him with a distant bow-shot. In her grief Artemis placed him amongst the stars as the constellation Orion.<>
My Favorite Constellation is Hercules. Hercules is the fifth largest constellation in the sky, occupying an area of 1225 square feet in the sky. I've chosen this constellation because I quite enjoy the Greek myth behind it.
I chose the constellation Andromeda because the back story and myths it has really fascinates me! I feel that some of the myths behind the consolations can be rather boring, but with the romance and danger all wrapped into one, I continue going back to it. This constellation is the 19th largest in the sky and is located in the first quadrant of the northern hemisphere. It takes seven-hundred-twenty-two square feet in the sky!
This is my myth of Orion. From the day that he had been born, Orion was a sickly, crippled child, with little chance of survival. One day, when the boy was six years of age, his father took Orion to the temple to meet the Oracle. The father prayed
1. I've chosen the constellation "Draco." I chose this one because it was the constellation that my mother always talked about when I was little. She'd tell me stories about it's stars and she'd always let me stay up late to look at it. Draco is the 8th largest constellation and has 9 stars, the brightest of which is Gamma Draconis. It belongs to the Ursa Major family.
I have chosen the Perseus Constellation. I chose that contallation because I have always liked the Greek Gods mythology. Perseus, named after the Greek Mythology hero, is a constellation in the Northen Sky. Perseus is bordered by Aries and Taurus to the south, Auriga to the east, Camelopardalis and Cassiopeia to the north, and Andromeda and Triangulum the west.
Cassiopeia is the constellation I have chosen. It is a very interesting constellation, comprised of various stars named with a Greek letter followed by Cassiopeiae (e.g. Alpha Cassiopeiae). The stars also have various traditional names of other origin, for instance Alpha is traditionally called Shedir from Arabic. I chose the constellation partly because I like the name, but it also has interesting origins and I am glad I looked up more details about it.
The Constellation I will be talking about today is Orion, Commonly known as The Hunter. Orion's is a hunter from Greek Mythology and is one of the most recognizable constellations. Orion has some of the brightest stars(some examples are Betelgeuse and Rigel) and is one of the prettiest winter constellations in my opinion.
Regardless of William Golding's personal beliefs, his use of biblical allusions in Lord of the Flies strongly contribute to the building of the characters and the outcome of the story. The book of Genesis is essentially about the beginning of many important realities; the creation of the universe, God's plan and how God’s perfect, sinless world was turned into a shattered society by sin. In Lord of the Flies the book progresses through the boys loss of innocence and fall from grace.
In Greek mythology, Orion was a giant. There are several versions of the myth of Orion. One of them tells that Orion had raped Merope, daughter of Oenopion, who therefore left him blind. Helios restored his sight and then became Orion's hunting companion of Artemis and Leto. He vowed to destroy every thing that had on earth, so Gea got angry and gave birth to
Pegasus is my favorite constellation. It lies in the northern sky and looks like a box with legs. I like the idea of a horse with wings that can not only gallop across land but also fly freely through the sky. I dream sometimes of having my own winged horse to ride and for this reason Pegasus is my favorite constellation.
My favorite constellation is the Capricornus constellation. I don't know much about constellations, so this is my favorite mainly because in astrology (and I'm aware it's different from astronomy) my sign is Capricorn. Capricornus is supposed to create the image of a goat with the tail of a fish. This is because Capricorn has this form, and so the constellation is based off of the astrological zodiac.
The myth behind Orion is a tragic myth. So Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, fell in love with Orion, a giant huntsman. Apollo did not approve of his sister's love, for Orion was a giant and the gods did not get along well with the giants. One night while Artemis was hunting, Apollo went and tied Orion far into a lake so only his head was seen. As soon as Artemis got to the lake, her brother challenged her to a game. He told her she would be the better
Macbeth begs the witches, “Stay, you imperfect speakers, tell me more.” This dialogue shows that Macbeth no longer cares about betraying his friends. He is too focused and worried about becoming the King and Thanes. Which will lead to him betraying Duncan by killing him to become the King. The author uses ambition leads to betrayal Lady Macbeth asks ‘’ Why did you bring these daggers from the palace ‘’(2.3,4-7).
As a child is born there is no greater love for a parent. Seeing a child go from babbling to graduating and becoming an adult can be one of a parent’s greatest accomplishments. However, what is astonishing is being able to witness the development in each milestone of a child’s life. When a child starts learning new words or learning who they want to be in life. These milestones are all a part of life and each age develops a new sense of self. A doctor, scientist, teacher, etc. My paper is based on the observation of early childhood aged children from our church ministry.
