#1 Please describe how you have prepared for your intended major, including your readiness to succeed in your upper-division courses once you enroll at the university.
Things to consider: How did your interest in your major develop? Do you have any experience related to your major outside the classroom — such as volunteer work, internships and employment, or participation in student organizations and activities? If you haven’t had experience in the field, consider including experience in the classroom. This may include working with faculty or doing research projects.
If you’re applying to multiple campuses with a different major at each campus, think about approaching the topic from a broader perspective, or find a common thread among the

My family and i wanted to join a charity program near by to help out around us. But we found out that, these programs do not take in everybody who is in need. They do plenty of screening to pick out only couple people from hundreds of people that are just outside the building. I thought of giving out of own food from us to them who didn't got accepted to programs such as red cross or salvation army. So we started to give out homemade food, chips, drinks to about 30-40 people at local park in downtown san Jose. It started with just me and my family giving out every Sunday. As week by week went by, we got more people in line for our food. So i decided to ask for more help so i posted about our service on Facebook and the next week, we had about 10 families and good amount of donation so that we could buy our own food. We then started to buy 25 boxes of pizza, water, juices, milk, muffins, bananas. It came to point that we were serving about 120-130 people every Sunday with the help of 40-50 people. These people would come up to me and say, “ why are you guys doing this, you guys are probably getting paid or having some benefit by doing this”. My reply was that i always believed in second chances. We all believe that you guys deserve another chance so that least we could do is help you guys stay healthy. Money started to flow in and someone had to take track of who gave what and distribute …show more content…
As a captain in my 8 years of playing soccer, i wanted to win and bring us to a higher level. I was so hungry for that trophy at the end of each season that would make stand out as the one of the top teams in the state. I have started to feel same way about education. I want to be able to have my master’s degree in my hand to prove to myself that i could have done it in any other way as well. This motivation will drag me to push my limits to do things that will benefit me. Even though i was forced to take different path for my education, i shouldn't be able to feel different or look down upon but to feel equal or better. I don't think anything could come in my way to have a great education that i could use for my career. My determination will lead me into having a great job that i could be happy with and still be successful. With my mom being the only child in her family to go community college has given me the courage and 100% support for me to fulfill my
Field Education starts off with having some responsibilities in training to perfect your ministries. You must first learn what ministry would best suit you. Never assumed you can do all things by yourself. Every position is not done by one person, sometimes it take personal to work it. Training is so essential to every aspect as you must know what to do. Choosing the correct field to go into and set up your goals that you want to work in. Make sure you are learning in your field. My professor told for me to pick three ministries that I would like to work in. I first look at myself and my ability to do the things I know I can perform.
Training is one of the most important roles at a law enforcement agency. It is never-ending as “concepts, theories, philosophies, practices, procedures, and techniques are constantly changing to meet social needs” (Iannone et al, 2009, p. 60). Without training, even the best officer will turn into one that is not respected by his peers or society. Gone are the days when an officer is sent to the training academy and has no more except for yearly inservice. This can be accomplished with field training after the academy, roll call training, inservice, emailed updates from the training staff, and outside the agency training. It does not always have to be expensive. Most think that the effectiveness of training can’t be measured, but successful training can easily be seen through “higher morale, less job stress with its high economic cost, greater esprit de corps, a lessened need for punitive discipline, greater effectiveness, in crime suppression, increased public support and confidence, fewer errors, better

I moved to California three years ago to pursue a Master's degree in social work at USC. During the time I have lived here, I have gained invaluable experience working full-time in the social work field. My first social work related job in California was working at an IMD step-down program for transitional aged youths and adults with dual diagnoses. From there, I began working in the Wraparound program at Aviva Family and Children's Services as a Child and Family Specialist. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with these agencies but am also very excited to begin graduate study at USC's School of Social Work since my graduate education was the reason for my move to southern California.
My child 's name is Jude Alexander and he is a male. As a baby he is cautious around new people and situations, but warms up fairly quickly to friendly people. In kindergarten Jude Alexander seemed to have made one or two friends and usually played cooperatively and was sometimes reluctant to join in new activities with unfamiliar children. He performed below average on tests of vocabulary, and the ability to retell a story. He had a real knack for the art projects, and really got interested in the pre-math activities involving working with blocks and geometric shapes. In first through fifth grade he worked cooperatively in groups, usually respects the rights and property of others, and usually demonstrates appropriate peer social interaction. He demonstrates strength in art, all areas of reading, and in spelling and appropriate for the grade level in writing. He needs additional help in the areas of speaking and listening and in the content knowledge of social studies, science and music. He was average in mathematical problem solving, understanding of data, number concepts, graphical applications, and arithmetic computation. In the seventh grade, he consistently contributes to cooperative group activities and respects the rights and possessions of others, and shows age-appropriate social interaction with peers. He demonstrates strength in art, reading, spelling and writing. He was average in math and science, and needs additional
As a pre-service teacher, I am excited to spend the next two years of my college career discovering how to be an effective educator. I am looking forward to learning all I can so that I can be prepared for the many challenges that I will face in this career field. I already have many strengths that I know will help me in the classroom. However, the next two years of my education will help me to acknowledge my weaknesses and figure out how to overcome them. I believe I have many strengths that will help me to get through the challenges of my Field 1 experience.
On September 8th, I visited our athletic trainer after school for about an hour. During this observation, many athletes’ ankles were wrapped. One of the football players waited to get an ultra sound on his right ankle. An ultrasound is commonly used to look at problems with soft tissue. The ultrasound works by focusing high-frequency sound waves on the specific location on the ankle that contains soft tissue. The sound waves then bounce off the bones and soft tissues and are picked up by the transducer. Chad, the school athletic trainer first put gel on the probe and massaged the athlete’s ankle for about six minutes. After the ultrasound, Chad wrapped both of the athlete’s ankles. He started by putting pre-wrap on the foot and ankle to prevent
After graduating from Glynn Academy High School in May 2007 I decided to take a break before I attended one of 4 colleges I got accepted into. January 2008 I decided to attend Savannah State University with Psychology as a major. Savannah State University is a historically black college and it was a great feeling being among such a diverse population of individuals who were excited about education. I was a work study student at Savannah State University as an assistant to Dr. Muktar, Dean of the History Department. After spending a year at Savannah State my uncle was diagnosed with cancer so I decided to move home to Brunswick, Georgia to help my mom and aunts help to take care of him. I moved home and attended The College of Coastal Georgia
My field experience assignment is an SLC or Structured Learning Center self contained unit at the United High School 9th grade campus. The students in this particular classroom are all students with Autism and they are all boys between the ages of 14 to 15 years old. Their learning goals vary and are very different from those of the students in the general education population; therefore, their assessments are going to be different as well. The main goals for our students include learning daily living skills, display proper behavior, and increase social activity. Assessing these goals vary between formative assessments and authentic assessments, but we mostly use checklists for our students.
Learning experiences in Culture and Schooling have impacted my values, beliefs, and attitudes towards others. Participating in the field experience requirement for this class has made me more aware of the diversity in our culture and has given me the opportunity to observe education in an urban school setting. I was unprepared for what I witnessed. I envisioned the institution to be dilapidated and neglected. I expected the students to be undisciplined, disruptive, and uncontrollable. I was wrong. The school building was well maintained and the student body was well mannered and respectful. After becoming involved with the school and meeting some of the students, all of my negative views about urban schooling have changed. Therefore, this course has influenced my perspective and opinions. I now realize that I should not pass judgement without having knowledge of or experience with the subject matter.
Anything could happen during field experience. While your gaining your exposure to real life classroom so many great things occur. You gain relationships with your students and gain a new understanding of being a teacher. But not all experience during field experience of wonderful, sometimes you experience things you would rather forget. My worst field experience was when I got to the recent quizzes of Mrs. Collin`s classes.
Ever since I was about 5 years old my parents would always drag me out to the orange groves in order to produce money to help support the family. Every time I began to complain they would advise me that if I wish to avoid this kind of life that I better put forward all I have in school to advance to college and live a better life. My primary goal is to indulge the college experience to learn and mold me into a man prepared to succeed at all he does. My parents inserted the right values into me and chiseled hard work into my DNA. Now it’s time to earn my bachelor’s degree in sports management and hopefully double major with a degree in sports marketing as well. My goal is to become a person ready to inspire and aid a myriad of people on my trail
Typically field experience would involve time at a local public school. Ideally, it would give one the opportunity to observe an experienced teacher working in an environment that a prospective educator would hope to be in at some point in their own career. However, if you are attempting to do field time during summer break, the options are a little different. I used my chance at field experience to observe rising eighth and ninth graders in the Summer Scholars Institute program. The students attended the program on the University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus. I am pursuing a degree in Secondary Mathematics with the hope to teach Calculus and Statistics at the high school level, however my teaching certification will be for grades 6-12 in Mathematics. Up to this point, I have not really considered teaching at the middle school level, but being able to observe this age group provided me with a chance to see their interactions and learning style. Knowing that my plan to teach in a local high school depends on whether or not a position is available when I graduate, becoming familiar and accustomed to middle-schoolers is not necessarily a bad thing. Attending Summer Scholars while taking Educational Psychology allowed me to observe and notice things that I may not have seen under other circumstances.
