Over my sporting career, the interpersonal level of Figueroa’s framework has subsisted as a primary influence on which sports and psychical activity I have participated in currently. The interpersonal level comprises of the relationships that affect an individual’s participation and access to sport (Ford, 2017) and can be further divided into five main sublevels, family, peers, teachers, coaches, and role models. Conversely, an individual’s family is the earliest and most powerful agent and are developed from the parents own stereotypical views and personal experiences (Ford, 2017). These views and beliefs are often seen to be dominant in a child’s sport choice, known as socialisation and can either have a positive or negative or negative influence (Brennan, 2017).

This study deals with high school athletics and their long-term effect in the lives of those who participate; it also deals with the positive and negative aspects of athletics during high school, and the treatment of those who participate. This study was conducted with qualitative data obtained from five personal interviews with previous high school athletes. These five people come from a range of places, ages, and experience. Conclusions are that participation in high school athletics is a contributor to a better social life and experience during high school.
