Rage. Rage means different things but in this story it's talking about rage as in death. In the text “Thomas” the author uses three different types of figurative language, personification , alliteration, and simile. First, The author uses personification to give something life. “Their frail deeds might have danced in the Green Bay” (Thomas). Personification means figure intended to represent an abstract quality. That’s meaning that his father is needing to fight. He need to fight for life. Second, (Thomas) uses alliteration “rage,rage against the dying of the light” “Thomas”. Using rage two times in the sentence means occurrences of the same word. He’s meaning they are using rage about death. Last, He use simile, “ Blind eyes
