An underdog is someone “. . . who, by all expectations, should not have won” (Gladwell 8). In the movie Happy Gilmore, Gilmore a former hockey star was trying to save his grandmother’s house by signing up for the Pro Golf Tour. It occurred to Gilmore that if he could use a slap shot swing to hit golf balls he could make the money he needed. Gilmore’s aggressive playing and wild run-up swing never should have been successful in the game of golf, but it was. Gilmore’s crazy style and skill won over the hearts of the viewers and allowed him to defeat his opponent, Shooter McGavin. Shooter McGavin also tried to sabotage Gilmore’s games but was unsuccessful. In Happy Gilmore, I think that the viewers and his opponents saw his style as goofy and

Overall, I believe “Loving” was a fantastic movie. I enjoyed watching it, and it was fascinating throughout. I was very interested to learn the story behind Richard and Mildred Loving and the pivotal struggle they had to face in their lives.
If you have not seen Dazed and Confused than you are really missing out. It is a great movie that relates from everything to High School to Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll. With an outstanding cast (from the past) it is a movie that everyone can relate to. Dazed and Confused reflects the lifestyle of kids that are entering high school for the first time, to seniors owning the school and being the "man" on compass. It portrays that freshman must watch their backs at all times and if you think you're as cool as the seniors, then you better watch out. There is a ritual that the seniors do to the freshman that have given so many people in reality a though of. With School being out for summer, in Dazed and Confused, it offers a great soundtrack from
For my scene analysis, I will be talking about the scenes in Martin Scorsese's film, Goodfellas that take place inside the nightclub. The film portrays the true story of mobster Henry Hill (played by Ray Liotta) who grows up in the mob and works hard to advance himself through the ranks. He enjoys his life of money and luxury, but is oblivious to the horror that he causes. During the film, the mobsters spend a lot of their time enjoying themselves at a nightclub they frequent called the “Copacabana”. In Goodfellas, the Copacabana is a high class nightclub littered with mafia gangsters and low key lighting with a red tint and a Hawaiian theme. The scenes were shot by cinematographer, Michael Ballhaus.
I can tell you that anyone who has patience in today’s world is not such what we call this place friendly. Pleasantville maybe pleasant, but not at all, it’s just the name “Pleasantville” is just a simple twist that’s all. David Wagner is a simple, nerdy kid with the fifties addiction in the movie. He 's obsessed with the fifty show “Pleasantville” that plays reruns. This is set in a simple place where everyone is everyone is a perfect character and perky, hostile is dirty word and life is pleasingly pleasant. David addicted to this perfect ideal world, David deepens himself in Pleasantville as an innocent escape from the tough world in his era, that he must share with pretty, popular twin sister, Jennifer. In the movie, one evening, life just his them. This is where it takes an unexpected twist when an unexpected repairman gives them a unique remote control, which takes David and his sister straight into Pleasantville. They become Bud and Mary Sue Parker, the children of Betty and George Parker, the family in the television show.
The Underdog is a character that is not expected to win but beats someone who's way better than them or overcomes amazing obstacles. Like in the movie Rudy, Rudy is told time and time again that he couldn’t do it. He has one goal; to play football for Notre Dame but he sucks no matter how much he tries. By some miracle he makes it and still doesn't play until his last home game at Notre Dame. So he overcame many obstacles, beat the odds, and played over those who were supposed too be better. This is another example of the underdog. This is one example of many. The underdog is trying to get to a point, or beat something that seems almost impossible to beat. By going through training and obstacles, they beat the crazy goal like Rudy

An underdog can be interpreted under different point of views. Theoretically, it’s a person who is seen inferior to the others, but that has the mind and the spirit of a true champion.
The movie Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is based in the 1970s. It depicts the highly male dominated broadcast team and shows the shake up when a woman is hired as a reporter and has aspirations of becoming an anchor the television station. The particular scene shows Ron Burgundy is flustered because Veronica Coringstone is impeding on his masculinity. Burgundy exemplifies hegemonic masculinity by explaining he is a man and a professional, when Coringstone says he his acting like a baby he takes offense and explains he is a man and he his ultimately better than a women because indeed he is a man. Burgundy states, “'I’m a man who discovered the wheel, and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn. That's what kind of man I am.
When people consider themselves as underdogs they want people to cheer them on and so that they can get all the attention. Many underdogs like being underdogs all because they want to be the center of attention. Everyone roots for underdogs in view of the fact that underdogs are not usually expected to win, so people will bet money on the “underdoggy” team, and when the team wins that means the person will get money. What this side of the argument does not take into account is that, many people root for underdogs because, everyone has been an underdog at one point and people can relate to underdogs. The definition of an underdog is unforeseen.

The pivotal scene that will be thoroughly represented and analyzed is from the movie 8 Mile, directed by Curtis Hanson, and released in 2002. 8 Mile is a semiautobiographical film based on the life story of the iconic rapper Marshal Mathers, or better known by his stage name Eminem, and how he began his journey into the hip-hop industry. In this film, Eminem plays himself, as the main character named Jimmy Smith Jr.; however, throughout the course of the movie, he is referred to as Rabbit more than anything else. Rabbit lives in a very rough part of Detroit known as 8 Mile, in a mobile home with his single alcoholic of a mother. Their financial situation is dire and Rabbit decides he needs to find a different occupation. Rabbit works at a factory to barely make ends meet; however, the amount he makes is abysmal compared to what he needs. Rabbit has a passion for music, specifically rap. However, this is a challenge because at the time the rap genre was predominantly occupied by African-Americans. Despite this, Rabbit continues on in his pursuit of making a name for himself in the rap industry. He enters rap battle competitions in hopes of getting noticed. He runs into a group of local amateur rappers known as “Leadaz of tha Free World”. The leader of this group is named Papa Doc and he is portrayed to be Rabbits greatest adversary. Rabbit and Papa Doc both make it to the final round of the rap battle competition and that’s when the pivotal scene
Forrest Gump is the type of movie that everyone needs to see. The movie of Forrest Gump starts in 1981, when a stranger sits next to him at a bus stop. That is when Forrest (Tom Hanks) begins to tell his life story. It all starts in the 1950s when Forrest is a young boy. He does not have many friends because he has to wear leg braces to correct his curved spine. He always has a learning disability. One day he is getting chased by bullies and he starts running and the leg braces fall off, revealing that Forrest is very fast. Later on, he receives a football scholarship to play at Alabama. In 1960, he becomes one of the top running
Forrest Gump is a movie that was released in the summer of 1994 and is based on a novel by the same name that was written by Winston Groom almost a decade earlier in 1986. The movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by Paramount Pictures. The supporting cast consists of Gary Sinise (Lt. Dan), Robin Wright (Forrest’s mother) , Sally Field(Jenny) , Mykelti Williamson (Bubba), among others. In this critique I will be summarizing the plot and analyzing what I liked and disliked about the movie and whether it stands the test of time.
