South of the Border is a 2009 American documentary film about Oliver Stone’s trip to Venezuela to meet president, Hugo Chávez. Oliver Stone himself directed it. The documentary examines how United States free-market policies have affected Latin America’s income. It also displayed how Chávez took a turn towards left wing governments in Latin America’s democracy. And due to such financial catastrophes, it has lead to a socialist uprising. In addition, the documentary included critical interviews with the president of Venezuela Hugo Chávez and Tariq Ali. Ali, who is also the screenplay writer of the project, seems to finds this documentary film to be a political pathway for power. When Ali was interviewed, he explained the importance and

If we look at the perspectives of the two groups, it is understandable in why there is support and opposition from the people of the city. The supporters of the new system wants a system that can provide better opportunities for their children without any violence. As the film claimed “the school was not teaching and were only babysitting the children”, which was likely a reason why there was a need for a new school system. With the chaotic and uncontrollable situation in the current system, many supporters have push forward the idea of a new system in a new city. From

Australian films, are well known for their outback landscapes, unique Australian animals, indigenous heritage and the unmissable quirky characters But are these stereotypes portrayed in Australian movies politically and culturally correct? Is Australia really only about a bunch of Bogan’s kicking their feet around in the red sand, wrestling crocodiles and going walk about with a few stereotyped aboriginals?
The Serial is an interesting audio podcast that is hosted by a journalist named Sarah Koenig. Sarah tells the story in a form of a reporter, in which she explains the murder case that occurred in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1999, Hae Min Lee, a popular high-school senior, was disappeared after school one day. After six weeks, a jury convicted Adnan Syed, Hae’s ex-boyfriend, for her murder. Adnan stands firm on the fact that he is innocent and he has nothing to do with Hae’s murder case. Due to the lack of true evidence people are starting to question whether Adnan was falsely accused of the murder. I personally think Adnan is innocent.

I wanted to rebuild everything my weight had taken away from me. That gave me the fire I needed to start losing weight and getting healthy” -Nikki Webster (“My 600-lb Life”).

Officials are taking steps to curb illegal immigration which include trying to figure out how to handle the current border crisis. There are many solutions to handle the border crisis. One solution would be to establish new policies to help control the crisis. But before new policies are created this country needs a new Congress. Therefore it would be essential to elect an entirely new set of individuals to Congress. Maybe with a new Congress, they would work together so that they could get something done. It is also important to examine the border security policies and asylum processes of other countries. This would help the United States see how other countries handle the asylum process so that they could determine how the asylum process in this country could change.
According to the text, education is defined as the social institution responsible for the systematic transmission of knowledge, skills, and cultural values within a formally organized structure (Kendall, p. 462). Every human has a right to an education. Despite this definition, evidence of inequality based on race, class, and gender can be seen in the system despite good intentions to promote awareness of and appreciation for cultural differences.
Did you know that there are estimates that the wall that President Trump is trying to build along the U.S.’s southern border could cost about 21 billion dollars to build? Building a physical wall along the southern border of the U.S. would be a huge mistake. A wall along the border of Mexico and the U.S. would be a mistake because it would be a waste of time, money and effort. Building a wall along the entire border is extremely unnecessary as well considering that more Mexican immigrants are leaving the U.S. and returning home that coming into the U.S. Also building a wall is unfair and it wouldn’t even solve the problems it claims to solve, like stopping Mexican immigrants from entering the country illegally. Instead of solving problems this wall would create more problems one of them being that it would also harm the environment.
Throughout this class, various discussions and blogs have been used to analyze the different elements of films such as theme, cinematic techniques and genre. It is time to bring all of these separate elements together in the analysis of one specific film, according to class text, “analyzing levels of meaning below the surface story can greatly enhance enjoyment as well as understanding of a film” (Goodykoontz & Jacobs, 2014. p. 10.03). There are several different approaches to film analysis including formalist, auteurist, and generic or any combination thereof. Utilizing a genre theory lens, the 1956 film The Searchers will be analyzed addressing contextual information, story/plot, aesthetic choices, social/personal impact and how these areas come together to develop the film.
Throughout history of the United States and Mexican border there has been multiple depths of changes and immigration. From the area trading country ownership to population changes to having a fence line created on it. Seen in Figure1, the U.S.-
The United States of America, where people come and go from all over the world. Either legally or illegally, people are pursuing the American Dream. Fighting to survive and feed their families. Taking their chances just to get a chance to a new life… a better life. This is why the United States of America is the most diverse nation in the world. With America being so diverse how do you take care of the illegal immigration it has going on. How do you stop people from coming in illegally? How do you know who is legal and who is not, without pointing out certain races only? I am going to hit certain topics that come with deportation. I will be analyzing ways of ICE taking care of the problem, and what outcomes it is causing. Outcomes on how they find illegal immigrants. What violations happen when they do, and how themselves and their families are being treated in this process.
I chose to watch “The Other Side of Immigration” because it was a documentary I could personally relate to. My parents emigrated from Cuba in order to make sure that my brother and I have a roof over our shoulders and don’t have to deal with the economic struggle my parents dealt with. We constantly hear the issues brought up by many U.S. politicians and the general public about immigration, but we never truly know what causes these individuals to separate from their loved ones, risk it all, in order to simply work in a tomato farm (or any other stereotypical connotations Americans think when they hear about illegal Mexican immigrants). What would actually motivate these people to leave their families for years, pay thousands of dollars or
United States Border Patrol has been around since 1904 enforcing and regulating laws under the immigration and Nationality Act. U.S. border patrol is now under the Department of Homeland Security, which was created as a response to the attacks of September 11, 2001. Over the years, their jurisdiction and missions have changed to better protect the safety of nation. Although border patrol is a need for any nation, their extensive acceptations to constitutional laws can often be taken advantage of. The mission of the U.S. border patrol should be to prevent illegal aliens, which are a threat to American society, from reaching their purpose. Frequently, their purpose can be confused or executed in a bias manner.
