Final Project
The Interview
Introduction
The artifact I chose to write my final project on is the movie, “The Interview.” I chose this movie because of the recent controversy it had not only in the United States but throughout the world. From movie theatres not being willing to play it and it going straight to TV. The fact that a movie was created with a plot to hurt North Korea’s top level leader has been considered a blatant act of terrorism and war and the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated they will not tolerate it. I find it interesting that in the United States we have become such an apathetic culture that we don’t think twice about watching a movie that is focused on assassinating a leader of another country.

Teens rank the media as the leading source of information about sex, second only to sex education programs in school. The media now shows sex between unmarried partners 24 times more often than sex between partners (Lowe). This is also true for alcohol and smoking the largest breweries spend $200 million each year on advertising. Teenagers see between 1000 and 2000 beer commercials with the message that ‘real’ men drink beer which has been shown to have increased underage drinking (Lowe). Mass media has had a huge influence on our society due to the fact that we rely on mass media for all our information be it news, information, education or entertainment (Matthews). With the social media sites we have seen a rise in cyber-bullying, a CBS News report showed over 42% of people have been a victim of cyber-bullying (Jung). These sites have also given us a false sense of connection, it is increasingly more difficult to distinguish between ‘real’ life and what is online (Jung). Social media has also impacted our politics and businesses. From politicians and business on social media trying to reach a larger audience, it has become so commonplace we hardly notice the ads that have begun popping up on Instagram …show more content…
The women who are in the movie are reduced to objects of sexual interest and constantly referenced to as being “honeypotted” for each of the men. Lizzy Caplan played a C.I.A. operative and Diana Bang was a North Korean official who took care of all the logistics for the interview with Kim Jung-un. While I don’t think when this movie was written and directed it wasn’t meant to have a political agenda by the time it came out it brought a lot of things to light. The hack to Sony was initially thought to have been done by North Korea in protest to the movie. I don’t think this was thought about before hand as there are not many sympathizers to North Korea in the movie going world but all the press made people stop and think twice about it. In our media centered culture that we live in we rarely have to think for ourselves or use any critical thinking skills. Before we have a chance to analyze something we are being told what to think and say about the issue. Even with the movie going straight to video on demand it still earned $18 million in the first weekend. They say that all press is good press, thus the huge scandal surrounding the movie only helped to promote it
I think this film can play in changing or improving social and/or political problems because it makes the audience more aware of what is going on in the world around them. By making this film, the directors were able to put the story out for everyone to view and have a better understanding
The film premiered in May of 1986, a critical period in American history due to the Cold War between the United States and Russia. In the past, The United States government had set up offices in Hollywood to “advise” Hollywood producers that they could not and should not produce films that were about anything related to the Cold War. Although this was not a law, producers often did abide by the rules and for the most part listened to the suggestions of the government. Some could argue that this was a form of censorship because it regulated what movies could be about. However, in actuality, producers had free choice to produce movies in whatever genera they wanted, and whatever topics they wanted.
One of the main issues of this film - if not the main issue - is the fact that the government and many people in the

Some individuals don’t like to think about the other side of the coin. These individuals would not want to watch a movie depicting that. The movie however does provide
As the movie unfolds, it gives moviegoers a variety of emotions. The film tends to take drastic turns, and twists. What turns out to be causal racism, ends up being something we feel down our spine. The film touches issues around our current world issues such as racism, and interracial relationships, and many more. We need more films like “Get Out” as they touch basis on our ongoing issues as a society. The film not only played mind games with moviegoers, but it made many like myself realize there are furthermore issues than the ones that surface around us
The United States has the highest rate of teenage pregnancy among other countries in the western world, and the rate of STD’s is rising. The rise of STDs is largely contributed to the sexual activity of the adolescent age group.(source?) The crucial developmental period in a teenager’s life is from age 13 to 18, which is primarily when sexual education begins to grow greater in detail. I want to (Lit reviews aim to analyze specific topics with as little bias as possible. First person is an inappropriate tense for this particular kind of paper.) examine the media’s influence on female teenagers’ decisions surrounding their choices and decisions regarding sexual endeavors. Because it is such a frequent leisure activity, they are readily exposed to sexual imagery. I will consider aspects found in research such as the negative way sex is portrayed, its consequences, how television works as a flawed sexual educator, and the main themes regarding sex in television. Yet, I will highlight how media, along with parental guidance, can be used to create positivity for sex, and how it can be manipulated to exhibit healthy imagery regarding the subject.
The purpose of this project was to enable the learner to differentiate roles, responsibilities, scope of practice, licensure, certification, education, of a non-nurse professional healthcare provider through a semi-structured interview and observation experience. This experience enables the observer to engage in a simplified qualitative nursing research process as field notes were utilized to support in the analysis of both the interview and the observation.
On average, people spend over 700 BILLION minutes on Facebook in one month. (Facebook) In today's day and age, social networking sites have taken over the internet. Sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr have linked people together in a way that was never thought possible. However, from all good comes bad, and from social networking sites the act of cyber bullying - bullying and harassing someone through the internet was born. Now, whether or not the websites are the cause of cyber bullying has become a rather controversial topic. Abraham Foxman and Cyndi Silverman, both part of the Anti-Defamation League, vehemently feel that these social networking sites spawned cyber bullying. On the other hand, Kate Harding, blogger and
Facebook and other social media platforms have brought communication across the world to a whole new level. The rise of social media has created a place for children to communicate with others in both a positive and negative manner. Although it has made a positive impact on American youth, it has also contributed and exacerbated bullying in our schools. This new form of bullying, often referred to as cyberbullying, has created an around-the-clock atmosphere where bullying can occur even when school is not in session. Many professionals have sought to address the negative aspects of social media and have worked to develop a solution to bring cyberbullying to an end.
Among other numerous evident themes in this movie include credible threats, especially to the government, intelligence, by exploring how best the FBI can work, fascism and Imperium, where power is used to counter opposition and criticism, western liberalism, diversity, white genocide, surveillance and contradiction of freedom.
Despite the positives, there are many negatives associated with social media. Using social media can make a person more vulnerable to predators and cyber bullying. In this age, “Cyber bulling is quite common, can occur to any young person online, and can cause profound psychosocial outcomes including depression, anxiety, severe isolation, and tragically suicide” (“American Academy of Pediatrics”). Cyber bullying impacts society in a negative way because it is harming young teenagers’ minds. Bullies, torment, threat, harass, and even embarrass their victims by using different forms of social media. Using social media can also decrease privacy for an individual. People often give out their personal information not knowing who can see it. To average internet users, “A false sense of security may leave social networking site users vulnerable to security attacks such as hacking, leaking sensitive information, and sending viruses” (“ProCon”). Furthermore, Social media can also lead to brain disorders and can cause people to have a hard time interacting with people face to face. “Social networking entices people to spend more time online and less time talking to a person face to face.” (“ProCon”)
In Indonesia this outraged a large number of Muslims who believed that this was another attempt by the West to impose their values on them. This led to many people lashing out in protest against the film and anything Western. These issues are showing how the security situation will become more volatile in the future. It is at this point that something small (such as a movie) could become a major incident in different regions of the world. (Yudhoyono, 2012)
