-To The Student Emergency Fund Grant Committee,
I am writing to you to explain why I am in immediate and dire need for funds that will assist me in continuing my college education at NAU. As a first generation college student, I have always had to rely on FAFSA and other types of financial aid to continue towards my degree and dream of becoming an educator. However, since I have completed my associates towards my degree in my hometown, half of the journey has already been completed. On the other hand, the other half is about to start, where I need not only more monetary funds to pay for university fees and tuition, but living expenses as well. I will be moving from my hometown to near-campus student housing, where there will be food and room

A grant from your committee will increasingly assist myself and my opportunity to attend NAU, where I will be working as well as attending school. With that in mind, if I was to receive a grant towards my education at NAU, I would be able to focus on my education and other on campus activities compared to working full time. Being one that has always worked while in school, being able to focus on my education more and my employment less would be fortunate for me, and will allow myself to fully engage in on campus activities, culture and other opportunities that other students who work full time may not have the good fortune to do so. With this grant I will be able to succeed as a first generation college student, where I can come home to my immediate family that higher education is not only a dream but a possibility and a likelihood as well; where if you work hard and ask for help, you eventually will be able to achieve the goal you have pursued long enough. Filling out this scholarship isn’t easy, because asking for help has never been the kind of thing I like to do. I’ve always powered through tough times, but between tuition, university and miscellaneous fees, as well as living expenses, parking permits, there will
I would like to express my thanks to the Buster Bynum Education Scholarship for allowing me the opportunity for financial assistance through your scholarship program. Being the second child in my family to attend college, I know that college can be expensive. At the age of seventeen, I am the youngest of six children. I learned from my family that they will give me all the love in the world, but when it comes to money I have to earn it. For the past three years I’ve earned my gas and spending money working a part-time job laying sod for Mid-South Enterprises LLC. I am confident that my parents will help as much as they possibly can financially, but with the assistance from scholarships my out of pocket tuition cost can be less.
My goal is to graduate from the University of Tulsa. For a variety of reasons, I need a ninth semester to complete the course work. I am pursuing an Accounting degree and expect to graduate in Spring 2017. Since I became aware on May 9 that I would not have financial aid, I have spoken to advisors in the Business College, Rick Arrington and Ralph Jackson, my accounting advisor Dr. Miranda and Jean Genske of Financial Aid. Additional conversations were with Dr. Cravens, Dean Sullenberger, and Provost Tanaka. Each conversation brought me closer to understanding the gravity of my predicament.
Being an immigrant and coming from a poor family, money has always been an issue in my life. Barely having the money to pay for the rent and bills each month, it makes life very complicated and frustrating for my family. I’m writing this statement to you because I’m afraid I will not have enough money to cover for my tuition as I enroll in Hamline University this fall. With the lack of money, it means that I would have to take a lot of loans which I don’t want to do because I don’t want to work the rest of my life just trying to pay off my loan debt. I desperately need your help because if I don’t go to college this year, I will have to wait another semester again.
I am writing this appeal on behalf of my Thomas Mason scholarship. My first year at Philander was such an experience. I met some great and caring people, from the students to all of the faculty and staff. Going into my freshman year I was ready, my first feeling of freedom, my own living quarters, and just being able to do things on my own. As i started my freshman year off i received a devastating call in which caused me to completely shut down and lose sight of my goal.
We would like to bring to your attention our strained financial situation. The FAFSA does not accurately depict our family financial situation and the ability to contribute to Zachary’s college expenses.
Going to school full time with a heavy load of classes and working 20-30 hours a week can be very challenging. In addition, I must be able to save enough money to put back for student loans that I have to pay in the future. My parents are only able to contribute a little with the job of raising my brother and going through the burden of a recent separation. Any extra financial assistance would be extremely beneficial in helping me reach my goals of getting a bachelor's degree. I greatly appreciate the committee reviewing these financial needs I have
This letter is to regard the appeal of my financial aid under the student code #0296790. I was denied on June 7,2016 for the course Grammar for writing 1 and I wish that you understand my current situation:
My name is __________________and I am writing this appeal letter in hope that you will reconsider your decision and grant my financial aid for spring semester 2014. I would like to begin by thanking you for taking the time to read this letter and consider my request for my financial aid at University______________________.
Being unemployed and financially supported by my brother, I will be very thankful to NHCC for the scholarship. I desire to graduate as soon as possible, for this reason, I take maximum credits in the semester and FAFSA is not sufficient to cover all my education expenses like purchasing books, lunch, and transport. The NHCC Foundation scholarship will help me to achieve my goals faster, opening a door to my future career. Getting a job I will be able financially to maintain myself and my future family. I will be able to pay my children tuition, how did and my mom and I will pay federal and city taxes which contribute to economic development of the USA, especially Minnesota
Winning this scholarship, would indeed be a jumpstart in the financial aid department. In my family, we have little luxuries, but it is just enough to live life in laughter and to appreciate the good moments we have together. Finding happiness in hard times is a quality I always want to have. To be honest, my ultimate goal is to inspire as many people as I can. A way I will fulfill my goal is by becoming a teacher. To express how opportunities are limitless and should be taken. In the like manner, how my experience in high school has been. For example, I took the chance of raising a goat for the district livestock show and the experience was worthwhile as I learned entrepreneurship, health treatments and companionship. As a high school senior,
Florida International University is an amazing school but affording it is not easy, especially due to my circumstances. My mother is a single mother of four children, me being the oldest, each child five to seven years apart. She is a certified nursing assistant and only has some college completed. My mom had to put her life on hold, sacrificing her education to take care of her children. She was not born in the United States, but in Haiti. After my aunt there is not much family that lives in the United States, instead they live in Haiti. This scholarship would be a blessing, having a positive impact on my education and life. Financially, it will help my pay for the schooling I need to accomplish my goals that I wish to pursue at Florida International University. This scholarship can really be the start to my future and my plans.
Thank you for helping me out by talking to Ms. Hiatt. I really appreciate your kindness. However, some of her comments are not accurate, although I have no intention to argue. Here are my thoughts about her comments.
Having an outlet for the rigors of student life is important. My first year returning to school at Kapiʻolani Community College (KCC), I work full-time in addition to attending school full-time. Not only were my grades lower, but all I had time for was school and work. I had a high amount of stress, and was not getting enough sleep. I got through the demanding year, but I knew something had to change. The subsequent years at KCC I attended school part-time. When I reduced my workload I noticed a vast difference in my grades and attitude. Receiving financial assistance will help me create a balance between all aspects of my
When I started college, I was able to use a college fund my grandparents set aside for me but the funds quickly ran out. To pay for school now I work part time while school is in session and full time during the summer however it pays for the bare necessities. It is challenge to work and make good grades while experiencing everything that LSU has to offer; I have done a decent job in the past but I am afraid I will have to give my extracurricular activities to make room for more work to pay for schooling and books. This scholarship would help me tremendously by allowing me to switch my focus from funding to school to my studies. I would no longer have to worry about paying off as much of my tuition and would be able to enjoy more of the organizations
Going to college has been a dream of mine growing up. I am the first ever in my family to go to college but figuring out how to pay for it has been a challenge. I desire to achieve my academic and career goals and this scholarship can help me succeed in my journey.
