In Engaging God’s World, Plantinga looks at Christian higher education and how it fits into the world. It is intended to help Christian teenagers, college students and young adults
After high school you are told to be responsible, go to college, and live a full life. One of the most influential decisions you will ever make is your choice in higher education at the collegiate level. Boise State University, being one of the most popular universities in Idaho, is an amazing school with great culture, athletics, and academics. Located in Boise Idaho everywhere you go there is orange and blue. Pride of the beloved school overwhelms the city and surrounding areas. On the other hand Idaho State University prides itself on it’s academics. While they do have athletics; nothing in Idaho can beat Boise State. People ask which school is the best? Each school has different strengths, and it’s own aspects that make the school unique.
“You are at the #1 public university in the world,” are the words implanted into the University of California, Berkeley. UC Berkeley is defined as #1 for its programs, history, faculty, environment, and prospective influences but ultimately, what defines UC Berkeley are its students. Through the impact its students make and the legacies they leave, a high level of prestige has been established when discussing the university. Another aspect of the university that engenders prestige is the admission process, which is set in place to assess who would best “fit” the university. A project done in 1999 that produced a film called “Making the Grade,” observes two students from two different school dynamics in San Francisco that both want to attend

When comparing The University of Findlay (UF) and Ohio Dominican University (ODU), I have found similarities and differences that can be seen as positive and negative. ODU is a private, Catholic university that covers ninety three acres of land and was founded in 1911. There are 2,600 students enrolled at ODU. Of the students, fifty seven percent are female and forty three percent are male. ODU has undergraduate and graduate programs. The University has sixteen athletic teams that compete in the NCAA Division II and provides more than forty organizations for the students to be involved in. (“How ODU Rank Among America’s Best Colleges?”) (“ODU Quick Facts”). ODU offers more than forty five majors (“Ohio Dominican Offers More than 45 Majors”) and does have middle school education for teaching, which is a major that I am considering.
The first fifty years of the 20th century proved to be hard on Cedarville. The college’s trustees tried several times to revitalize the college before realizing Cedarville was not sustainable any longer. The trustees had to choose between finding a college to merge with and closing down entirely. While Cedarville’s trustees were facing this decision, the trustees at Baptist Bible Institute in Cleveland were looking for a
I have always known that I wanted to attend a top-tier university. The other details came later; the small size, the proximity to an urban hub, and my major itself. For a while, I was convinced that it would not happen; that I just wouldn’t get in. Now, I realize that I have an opportunity to do so. This is an opportunity I do not intend to waste.
This paper explores the history of Charleston Southern University located in the heart of the Lowcountry in Charleston, South Carolina. With its core Christian values, Charleston Southern achieves an atmosphere that most universities cannot. The history of this school can be pinpointed back to 1964 when it was initially founded (University History and Milestones, 2015). The early years were fairly rough, with low enrollment rates and very few majors being offered (Joslin, Merkling, & Strubel, 2014). However, the university went through countless changes that drove it to be the successful school that it is today. Now, Charleston Southern University is an academically excellent school and also a member of the NCAA Division I Big South Conference. This school started as merely an idea and expanded into a thriving university full of thousands of students.
Nick Tosches once said, “I don’t have a college degree” (Picturequotes, 2017). Quite frankly, neither do I considering the fact that I am fourteen years old and not a genius. Over the course of the past nine weeks, I have been researching about Florida State University, it’s financial aid, the process of going through college, and Florida State University’s history.
Today’s Oglethorpe University is a thriving intellectual community in Atlanta, Georgia. However, Oglethorpe has survived many trials during its different iterations. From the very beginning, it was challenged by lack of money and interest. When it finally opened, Oglethorpe University was still plagued with financial issues, as well as issues with maintaining a high quality of education. Years later, the university collapsed under the strains of the Civil War and post-war Reconstruction. More than one hundred and seventy five years after its original charter, Oglethorpe’s existence today is a testament to the power of education.

The beginning of Microsoft Inc. started with Bill Gates and Paul Allen writing computer program code for local businesses and municipalities. In 1975 they were inspired by an issue of Popular Electronics that showed the new Altair microcomputer kit, manufactured by MITS Computer. Bill Gates and Paul Allen wrote a version of BASIC, a computer programming language, for the machine. Later that year Bill Gates left Harvard University to work full time developing programming languages for the Altair, and he and Paul Allen relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to be near MITS Computer, where Paul Allen took a position as director of software development. Bill Gates and Paul Allen named their partnership Micro-soft (Microsoft
