GROUP TITLE:
Fit for learning group for girls with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD).
OVERALL AIM OF GROUP PROGRAMME: (Approx: 50 words)
The aim of this group is to help four-year-old girls with DCD to refine gross and fine motor skills, and develop social skills necessary for children to successfully participate in kindergarten and primary school. The group will be six, hour-long sessions. ______________________________________________________________________________
Goals for the Group: (Approx: 50 words)
1. To improve gross motor skills (working on large body movements, balance and coordination).
2. To improve upperlimb function (working on smaller, precise movements of the hands and fingers).
3. To stimulate a child’s senses in order to process information (making links between cognition and the motor and sensory systems).
4. To develop age appropriate skills (eg. Dressing).
5. To practice appropriate social skills and learn how to interact with others.
All members will have achieved these goals within the six-week time frame.
