The Florida Panther used to thrive throughout most of southeastern United States, but today, they are little number of species in southern Florida. The habitat of Florida panthers consists of pinelands, hardwood hammocks, and swamp terrain. Living in these types of environments, you can tell that their body types are made to hunt live prey. Their preferences for sources of food are: wild hogs, deer, rabbits, and when limited resources they will eat raccoons and crocodiles. In the mind of a panther, their strategy for hunting strategy is single out, stalk, ambush, while rarely chasing their prey for long periods of time. Florida Panthers are mostly solitary animals, not relying on a pack to help them hunt or thrive. They use their home range to live, hunt, and raise their young. Males cover an area of 200 square miles of land, while females range much lesser than the males at 70-80 square miles. While covering such a vast majority of land, Florida panthers rarely fight over territory (BCR,2016). The historical range of this species occurred throughout 7 states consisting of southeastern United States. In the world today, the panther is limited to less than five percent of their previous range, only having a single breeding population located in southern

They usually feed on lemurs, but they can still eat other animals. Some people that live on the island of Madagascar tell legends of the fossa attacking humans. These legends are most likely false because there are no records of a fossa attacking a human without cause. Hunting for the fossa is usually easy because of its nimble nature.
The American Alligator is also covered in an armor like coat called osteoderms or scutes. They have short legs with five toes on the front legs and four in the hind legs. The front toes are about half webbed and the outer hind toes are about two thirds webbed which allows them to swim with ease. The majority of all American Alligators are black or a dull gray with some lighter blotches on the sides and a light yellow underbelly. One of the most important features of the America Alligator is its muscular tail. Their tail is used to propel them out of the water, to swim fast, and to death

The panthers are being wiped out along with their homeland that is being surrounded by new and upcoming developments. Specifically, the highway is the biggest threat to the Florida panther. Nine panthers have been killed in the last eight years. Plans to complete Interstate - 75 by making it a two-lane toll road called "Alligator Alley" were put on hold because of the community's concern for the panther.

With an impressive 23 feet in length, and weighing 200 pounds, the Burmese python is taking up the Everglades space. It’s no wonder animals around here go missing. What exactly is the reason they’re in the Everglades? Why are they everywhere? Well they have no natural predators, there’s way too many of them, and they are dramatically changing the number of animals.
The Florida Panther is currently an endangered species of cougar that resides in the southern forests and swamps of Florida. While it is a species of the cougar, it is identified as a panther to be able to clearly distinguish between the other southernmost species of cougar in the United States. The Florida Panther is a carnivore with a diet based on the animals native to their region such as deer, wild hogs, and other small game like rabbits or raccoons. Normally they are solitary animals, their homes range from 75-150 square miles of terrain, and while some homes may overlap it will not be by a lot. This overlap normally comes from females, for mating reasons but due to them being solitary, they are extremely aggressive towards other males

Taking over with no natural predator, the Burmese Python. These very large pythons have been effecting our Everglades drastically. Once native to the swampy marshes of Southeast Asia, these snakes are now migrating over to Florida. Being so large and having no natural predator, they have really made a strong change in our Florida wildlife. These dangerous pythons have altered the population of animals in the Everglades by so much that people are beginning to worry about what will happen next. The snakes didn’t get there on their own, but now we don’t have any way of stopping them.

Tigers are the biggest member of the cat family, with lions coming in at a close second. Their paw pads are very sensitive and are easily damaged, which prevents them from following prey that may wonder on such things as rocks that are hot. Another interesting fact about the tiger is that there are no white tigers left in the wild, only in captivity. On top of that, all of the white tigers in captivity came from the same female, which was caught in 1952. White tigers are not true albinos because they lack pink eyes; theirs are blue. Tigers and lions have actually mated in captivity. The offspring of a male tiger and a female lion is called a Tigon, and offspring of a male lion and a female tiger is called a Liger.
