“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face”(Eleanor). Courage comes within you and you need to learn to overcome it. With courage, also comes passion. And this woman had the courage and passion to follow her dream. She took things to new heights and expanded her life than just the ground. She went up high to the sky. Amelia Earhart was an important figure in American history, for her courage and many achievements in life.

Amelia Earhart’s honors and awards was a significant change in her life. One of the many awards earned by Amelia Earhart was the National Geographic Society’s gold medal. She was awarded this prestigious medal because she was the first women to achieve a solo transatlantic flight.(Medal). This feat made Amelia known all over the world and this proved her courage. She also won the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1928. (Medal). Earhart earned this award because she was the first women to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Her bravery had a huge impact on her life. It is what pushed her to the limit. For the same accomplishment, Amelia won the Cross of Knight of the Legion of Honor from the French Government. In the honor of this feat, a small museum of Amelia Earhart was built in Ireland, the place where she landed. It was named the Amelia Earhart Centre. (American).
Courage was an important factor in Amelia’s life. It is what made her an amazing pilot to this day. In fact, she has written many books about her adventures. Last Flight, The Fun of It and 20hrs., 40 min. are books by Earhart. She wrote these books to share her brave experiences. She was the first woman to fly an autogyro. An autogyro is a type of rotary-wing aircraft. In 1935 she was the first women to fly by herself from Honolulu to Oakland.
