Following directions is very important. No one should have to repeat themselves more than once to tell anyone to follow directions. Following directions shows just how much respect you have. If you do not listen, you miss out on important information. Directions are only given out once and not needed to be repeated more than that. If you ask to repeat directions then that means that you were not listening. When you are not listening that means you are not following directions. It is the teachers directions to give them to you. Listening and Responding. It is important to listen and the pupil an opportunity to speak, so they can express their own thoughts and feelings. You should respond appropriately and you may need to repeat back to make sure of your understanding. This also makes the pupil aware that you are listening and are interested. For example in my setting I had a pupil tell me that his Dad hurt his thumb with a hammer when he was putting a picture up. I repeated the sentence back to him but also continued the conversation by asking questions like, ‘Did his Dad have a sore thumb’, and ‘Did he need a plaster’. This showed that I was interested and I was also listening. The pupil responded well and was very excited to be telling me about it.

College professors should give all students the same instructions because it is unfair to give one student more or less instructions than the other student. I believe when a student is assigned an assignment they need to have instructions on how to complete the assignment. Therefore, it would be hard for any student to study a subject if they have partial instructions, or no instructions. For instance, Scudder was given some instructions on how to study about fish and Shaler were given no instruction. Both students eventually gained knowledge about fish, but it was difficult for them to learn. In my opinion, professor should not be allowed to choose which student they can give instructions to, and which students they cannot give instruction
In the future, I will also keep all of the worksheets until I’m ready for the students to complete and follow along with me. Developing lesson strategies for students that are too demanding may have a negative effect on performance and reinforce negative emotions concerning learning. Likewise, developing lesson strategies that do not challenge students to perform at their best can also have a negative effect. Some students that are not engaged by a teacher's instruction are left adrift waiting for new or more stimulating material. Engaging students in the learning strategy is the key ingredient in producing active learners.
