A healthy adult between the ages of 18-70 should consume about 1,000 mg of calcium per day. Usually, people obtain their calcium from dairy foods such as milk, yogurt and cheese, which are rich in calcium. Since, Dawn is a vegan she might have a harder time obtain her daily calcium. After examining Dawns diets I was able to see that the only foods that are rich in calcium are her tofu and her soymilk that she sometimes consumes. I also saw that most of the foods that she consumes are not rich in calcium underneath I wrote down the approximately calcium in the foods that she consumes.
A cup of soymilk contains around 500 mg.

I disagree with Dawn because if a person is not obtaining the proper vitamins/minerals in their diet they should obtain them from outside sources. Since, Dawns is a vegan most of her food intake might be poor in vitamins and minerals. Some of the benefits of taking these supplements are: improving the bodies defenses, reduces disease risks, boosting energy and it helps a person acquire the necessary nutrients that sometimes our diet does not achieve. If a person does not consume the proper amount of nutrient they might be at risk of a low immune system. Also not consuming the proper amount of vitamins and minerals may lead to chronic diseases such as heart disease, osteoporosis and some cancers. Most physicians recommend everyone to take these supplements because a lot of people are not able to obtain their nutrient from their diet. I believe that Dawn should consider taking Vitamins/ minerals because since she only eats plant origin foods. Since, Dawn is a vegan she is not able to obtain the vitamin B12 because this vitamin is only found in animals. So it would be good for her to take this vitamin supplement to expose her body to this important vitamin. Also since she is a vegan it is harder for her to obtain vitamins D and calcium because most of these vitamins are obtain from milk
