Food is any substance consumed to provide nutritional support for the body. It is usually from plant or animal origin, and contains essential nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals. The substance is ingested by an organism and assimilated by the organism's cells to provide energy, maintain life, or stimulate growth. Historically, people secured food through two methods: hunting, and gathering of agriculture. Today, the majority of the food energy required by the ever increasing population of the world is supplied by the food industry. There are seven classes of nutrients such as: carbohydrate, proteins, minerals, vitamins, water, roughages(fibers) and fat. Carbohydrate: are human and animals main source of energy. Proteins: essential for growth, repair of muscles and other body tissues. minerals: Michael Demetrius defined minerals as “an inorganic compound that aid in energy production and body maintenance as well as assisting in the control of body reactions.” Vitamins: refers to water and fat soluble vitamins which plays a significant role in many chemicals processes in the body. Water: essential for normal body function, water plays a vital role in digestion. The human body holds 60% of water. Roughages(fibers): the fibrous indigestible portion of our diet essential to health of the digestive system. Fat: one source of energy and important in relation to fat soluble vitamins. The human body is an incredible system that is capable of working a multitude of diverse functions. Without the help of the many different protein molecules, the human body would not be able to function properly. One major group of proteins called enzymes are mandatory for essential life. These proteins are constantly at work assembling molecules, metabolizing energy, and fighting off infections. An enzyme is a macromolecule that acts as a catalyst that speeds up a chemical reaction without being consumed by the reaction. Without these proteins, these reactions would take place too slowly to keep us alive. Essential parts in your body like vitamins and minerals cannot do any work without
There are many types of foods, nutrients, and minerals that are important to the body, and the ones that will be covered in this paper are electrolytes, carbohydrates, and proteins. The items listed above are vital to body functions in many ways; for example, electrolytes necessary for proper muscle contraction (Nordqvist 2013). Proteins are essentially what allow our bodies to function as they do, and carbohydrates provide us with the energy that allows it to function. Our body is an amazing and intricate machine, and that’s basically what it is -- a well-oiled machine. In this adventure we will discover what makes our bodies work the way they do, what moves the figurative cogs of our body, and what makes us tick inside.

Vitamins are a class of nutrients that contain carbon. Vitamins are needed in small amounts to maintain health and allow growth. There are two types of vitamins fat-soluble and water-soluble this means that they dissolve in fat and water. There are 4 fat-soluble vitamins A,D,E,K. Vitamin A keeps your eyes and skin looking healthy. It also is needed for the growth of bones and teeth. Vitamin D is the sunlight vitamin and helps absorb calcium. When we say that something gives us “energy” it means we can get sugars or carbohydrates and lipids from that. Humans need to eat carbohydrates and lipids to provide fuel for our body’s metabolism. Human body must have these chemicals in order to function and different food sources provide different types of energy. The biological definition of energy is the element that is stored by cells in biomolecules (carbohydrates and lipids). The energy is released when there molecules are oxidized during cellular respiration and transported by an energy carrier called ATP

In today's society, food industries have been detrimental by turning animals into food and I witnessed this when I was eight years old. I went to this famous food industry called Tyson Foods. It was a tour with my family and we explored through the factory. The tour guide expounded some enthralling facts about how animals were turned into food.
