Every year the infamous super bowl comes on and it becomes the talk of the town. Football is known worldwide for how violent it is. If it’s so violent, then why do we watch it? We watch it because it’s entertaining, we get to learn from their mistakes, and it's a great way to socialize. Even though people know football is dangerous, they still watch it because it’s entertaining. According to CNN more than 11 million people watched the Super bowl! (CNN) Some people will go to watch the game and others will go to watch the funny commercials or go watch famous people performing. According to some, football is the most entertaining because it has non-stop action going on. Some of these actions can cause serious injuries. Another reason why people
Even though football players are aware of the dangers the game can bring upon them, they take part despite it. The passion, the joy it creates; for professionals it’s also the devoted fans and compensation they receive is what keeps the players motivated. Today players are much bigger, faster, smarter, bigger, better. The game is more physical. The sport has never been so competitive. The popularity has reached new peaks, as much that the NFL has thoughts of moving a team to London, England. Additionally, Super Bowl XLVII (47) was one of the most watched television events of all time; an astonishing 108.4 million viewers (The Associated Press). Fans worship their teams and love to see big hits. Football is a contact sport; injuries are no
Seattle's pass defense has collapsed without Earl Thomas, ranking fifth in Football Outsiders DVOA through Week 11 but 30th out of 32 teams since Thomas missed his first game in Week 12. However, Detroit's passing game has similarly collapsed since Matthew Stafford hurt his finger early in Week 14, ranking 10th through Week 13 but 27th over the past four weeks. It would seem those matching declines would cancel each other out, but the problem for Detroit is that Seattle is better at everything else except special teams. Detroit has little ground attack, while Seattle has one of the 12 best run defenses since FO advanced stats began in 1989. Seattle's offense has been only average this season, but the Detroit defense is much worse than it looks.
Surprisingly, Football is not the topic of "Football" by Louis Jenkins; rather, 'a man's brown leather oxford' (Line 3/4) is the star of the show. The tone of the poem at first is serious, the speaker resolute to do his job as quarterback. Football terminology is evident and differentiates the solemness of the first two lines from the altered tone in the next section of the poem. The shift takes place with a hasty 'what the hell is this?' (Line 3), invoking a completely different view from the speaker. Although, there is still a sliver of the previous tone in the au courant one, the author meant for the new tone to be amusing in the mix-up with equipment and the speakers comparison to pancakes. The speaker juxtaposes 'clear corn syrup' (Line
I’ve only been to one football game my entire life and I didn’t even stay for the full game, and I only went to watch the halftime performance. My family aren’t football fans either, and it used to boggle my mind how some people took the game so passionately and seriously as if it was their livelihood. All I see when I watch football is a bunch of guys in tight clothing colliding on top of each other. I would see some articles about football related injuries and the statistics behind it, they sounded awful, but again I wasn’t a
Ever since Dr. Omalu discover a link between CTE and football, the discovery raised questions nationwide about whether football is safe and change football in many ways. There are many ways to make football safer for football players. Football game can be change by removing the three-point stance. According to Ralph Isernia, he change the three-point stance into his own version to two-point stance which have many advantages. The two-point decrease the chance of getting a concussion. According to Kathiann Kowalski, there is a new helmet that have three layer of energy-absorbing insulation. Most helmet just have one layer which does not provide protection, but with the new helmet, it would prevent concussion. According to Jeff Nussbaum, making
Although the National Football League (NFL) seems to provide a source of entertainment for Americans, it is slowly but surely brainwashing our population. Starting in September, a great majority of the American population gathers around TV screens and crowds into stadiums across the country to watch men ram into each other in hopes of getting a leather ball to the end of a field. This occurs every Sunday, as well as the occasional Saturday and Monday night. Fans spend hundreds of dollars on game tickets, and NFL Ticket TV subscriptions to ensure that they never miss a game. If we were to take a step back and look at it, these weekly occurrences seem to become ritualistic. What was supposed to be a source of entertainment has become a routine
Players risk their lives every time they step on the football field. There is always a chance of someone getting hurt. Football is a battle. Everyone wants to come out of that battle as a winner so they will do everything in their power to achieve that. Football is the most violent sport. It draws a lot of attention and creates a lot of good memoires. The NFL has cracked down and is still trying to crack down on making the game safe. They have made head to head contact illegal to prevent concussions. There are a lot of post football players who suffer from injures they faced in the NFL every day of their
Most people understand that football is a violent sport, and one must be very tough in order to compete. Injuries NFL athletes suffer can affect, not only the player, but also the fans and family members watching. Over time, many have become increasingly disturbed by the violence that routinely occurs in

I observed that she is from a Spanish speaking country, living in the rural area. She was a tom-boy who loves to take care of bulls. The first time she saw a picture of a bullfighter, she became interested in the sport. She started the sport at a young age and when all the men in her family failed at their attempt she didn’t fail. She was dedicated in becoming a professional matador in which she did. Before she enters the bull ring she practice her routine, dressing in her jump shot of fine patterns and dazzling decorations. In the ring, she uses a red flag to distract the bull in order to kill it. The way she moves in the ring reveals her love for the sport.
The game of football is being attacked. We see it every day in the headlines and on the news. The medical concerns are obvious. The game has taken more than its share of criticism. Even President Barack Obama said that if he had boys he wouldn’t let them play football. LeBron James publicly said no football in his house. So the question is asked all the time, Why would anyone want to play football? And why would anyone let their kids play? Here’s my answer. I believe there’s practically no other place where a boy is held to a higher standard then football. Football is hard, it’s tough, it demands discipline, it teaches obedience, it builds character. Football is a metaphor for life.
Everybody has something they are literate in. For me, that is football. I am committed to being a good football player. I started 2 seasons ago, and am on my third. As with anything, I have strengths and weaknesses when playing football. But I have to work with these if I want to be a good football player. My experience with football also can relate to ELA and my strengths and weaknesses there.
Football is a very unique sport, especially to Americans. It is almost exclusively played in the United States, at least thats where the most religious fans live. There are roughly 17 million people who tune in to watch an average football game every weekend, and each stadium holds roughly 100,000 people which is regularly filled with fans. So what is it that fans of football love so much about the sport, is it the connection to a cities team, the lovableness of the teams mascot, the fact that football is one of the last true contact sports, or the attractive cheerleaders. While I might argue that it’s hard to complain while watching the cheerleaders, when most people are asked what aspect of football keeps them coming back, they often answer that they love the physicality of the sport. While football has always been a sport of contact, physicality, and force, over the years they have gone to great lengths to add rules in order to help protect the players from devastating injuries. Some of the measures that have been taken include face mask penalties, horse collar penalties, and a relatively new penalty for targeting. While football leagues such as the National Football League have taken great strides to help prevent devastating injuries in the game the Americans hold so dear to their hearts, I would argue that rather than decrease injuries, football has actually seen a significant increase in serious injuries due to the fact that players feel the need to overexert
Sorry for the late response, but I didn't have time to write it out. Overall this season was fun, You were one of, if not, my favorite coach. You understood how I got down on myself and the team. You taught me a lot, and I’m sure you taught a lot of the other girls too. I did feel a lot more comfortable telling you things than others because you were my teacher, and because of that I think you expected more of me. Which I’m always okay with. It just seemed that you didn't have as much patience with me than the other girls, with attitude. Some of the games I got pulled. I got angry, but a lot of the other girls had the same face and some were just as upset, but you pulled me first. It upset me because you kept telling me to let the team pick me up, but I couldn't with being pulled right away. At practice the drills you did were always helpful and I think you were trying to do what was best for the team, but the drills weren't always helpful towards me. The butterfly drill was something I liked especially in the beginning, but later in the season it didn't really affect me, I needed the balls to be a little harder. I wanted to do so many other things, but I was always afraid to say it because a lot of it, I knew most of the others on the team couldn't do or would have a harder time doing. I definitely wanted more one on one time because I think there were just so many people wanting help, it was hard for you to help us with our problems and also throw the ball or do other
