Rugby requires skill, strength, and strategy. Players spend 80 minutes pretending they’re not hurt, whereas soccer players spend 90 minutes pretending they are hurt in an attempt to draw fouls. In Rugby a small 5’6’’ player is just as important as a 6’5’’ gargantuan. People may have heard of Rugby before or even witnessed a game, but do they really know what it is and how it’s played? My interest for this topic came to me during my first semester at the University of Kansas, when I realized a club team on the rise. A few of my pledge bothers recently got involved in the rugby club and have started appreciating the sport. Rugby is a sport that consists of a team with a mission to score more points than the other, with a similar football feel. My process is to analyze the game of rugby at the University of Kansas and develop a greater understanding of rugby, how it’s organized, and how it’s played. Before starting my investigative process, I first wanted to look at the historical content of the sport. It is believed that rugby was born in 1823 when William Webb Ellis “with fine disregard for the rules of football (note that football was yet split into various codes) as played in his time at Rugby school, first took the ball in his arm and ran with it, thus originating the distinctive feature of the Rugby game” (“Rugby Football History” n.p.). Although Ellis’s story is just a belief, the majority of the population agrees on the view. Webb Ellis is still remembered as the
The nature of Touch Football ensures there is a place on the field for everyone due to it being simple game. Touch Football has a number of mental and physical benefits though, which can improve the state of people’s mental and physical health and fitness (Play Touch Rugby League, 2016). Touch Footballers are constantly on the move from sprinting, walking, jogging to dodging, diving and jumping, working all muscles are the body and increasing the bodies heart rate (Rlskilzsportscamp, 2016). The fast paced nature of the sport ensures participants are always moving no matter what they are doing in its small time frame of around 40
Rugby is a less commonly known and played sport that helped originate football. William Webb Ellis originated the sport of rugby in the early 1900’s. Ellis was a student at Rugby School in England when he created the game, which is how its name originated. The way Ellis invented this game was when he broke soccer rules and made his own new game (The origin of rugby). The sport of rugby is similar to football because of the rules that are implemented and the way special teams are used on the field. One major difference between the two sports is that football is continuously throwing forward; in contrast, rugby requires that the ball must be thrown backward or laterally. Moreover, positions in this sport are very different than football. These positions consist of forwards and backers in the offensive scheme. The forwards are the bigger and stronger styled players that block for the backers, similar to the offensive line in football. Backers are the fast, small players that usually handle the ball the most and run with it. In rugby, they fall in the same lines of the running back or quarterback in the sport of football. Although rugby has many similarities to

Firstly, McGrath defends the argument that football does not have a future. After introducing his topic with a story of his first football game and first favorite player, he uses this to present this question, “Was Ironhead a role model for a sport with no future?” This question introduces the topic and also sets the mood for the duration of the article. He gives several examples of football players with traces of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (C.T.E.) in their brains. This condition is what results from a person who has had a multitude of concussions or
As told from interviews with the players and coaches in the documentary, the West Magpies style of football brought on by the new coach Roy Masters has made the Magpies one of the most feared upon teams to play against. The community believed it was much more entertaining to watch the Magpies “play to hurt the opposition without getting sent off”, then seeing the real skills of rugby league win games. Magpies players kicked, punched, stomped, eye gouging and even hair pulling was used to win games as well as support within their community. The Fibros verse the Silvertails become some of the most violent yet favourite games to be watched from the everyday rugby league lover.

. The kansas Jayhawks are way better at basketball than football. My favorite play for them right now would be Frank Mason the Third. He is their point guard. On football for KU i don't really have a favorite player i don’t really watch college football. In NFL my favorite team in the New Orleans Saints. My favorite player for them would be either Mark Ingram or Jimmy Graham. For soccer I don't have a favorite because i don’t watch it. In hockey my favorite team is The Pittsburgh Penguins. My favorite baseball team is the New York Yankees.
The six players were picked by the coaches, because they had been seen using unsafe tackling techniques. A 10-step analysis was performed to judge if the child was progressing toward a safer tackle. A safe tackle was defined as leading with the shoulder while keeping the head to the side of the opposing player’s body to avoid making helmet-to-helmet contact or contacting the opposing player with the crown of the helmet. A total of three or four trials were performed for each participant during the two-hour practice for three days a week. One researcher instructed and watched in person while a second observer recorded video for 35% of the practice sessions and games, which was also used for analysis. The researchers used a multiple baseline across participants design to evaluate the effectiveness of the BST. The baseline sessions started after the team finished the standard fundamental tackle practice. The participants were asked to demonstrate their tackles as they normally would in practice and the researchers did not provide any feedback. Then, later on the researcher provided instruction through each step of

Students, Brian Harpin and Brent Nelson at Kankakee Kays High School [Illinois], enjoy playing soccer for the their high school team. They like being part of a team and feel they do not need to be the best players. "You have to play the game, give it your best shot, and not give up," says Nelson. Some of Nelson’s teammates let the competition acquire the best of them. "Sometimes when they missed the ball, they took out their anger on other people," he says. Other teammates told them to just play the game and have fun. All students must play competitive sports in school to make sure that they do not become obese, and so they can stay in shape.
What does football mean to you? To many, it means teamwork, competition, strategy, and tensions. Football has been around for many years, but recently, many are becoming aware and concerned about the deadly and life threatening dangers football harbors. There is also controversy in terms of age, and whether or not young children should be exposed to the brutality of the sport, given the high impact injuries. The important characteristics football instructs are tremendously important and valuable, although, considering the harmful and detrimental factors, children should not be exposed and victimized as a result of playing football.
From observing, interviewing and reading articles on linguistic communities I have seen that Loyola Women’s rugby club team has been created from a mixture of the distinct culture that makes up the sport of rugby and the individuals that make up the team. From this mixture
