“Will I let my son play football?”. Is a question that comes to mind to parents who have kids interested in sports. But these are the questions they should also ask themselves. “Is a football career really worth all the repercussions?” and “Is a life worth a tackle?”. Many kids dream of having a professional football career and strive to be the best in the sport. With hard work and dedication these dreams can become clearer, but that does not mean they are promised. The only thing that a professional football career promises is that injuries will occur while playing, no matter what age or size. That being said, I would not give my son permission to play football because it causes concussions and bodily injuries, it also promotes violence and causes permanent brain damage and death. First of all, football causes injuries that can lead to permanent brain damage which has the potential of affecting the person's entire life. Kim Gorgen, a neuropsychologist which gave a speech at TED Talk stating that, “High schooler playing contact sports are 3x more likely to have a serious concussion, life threatening injuries compared to college students and adults”. A sport that glorifies and promotes violent behaviors should not be taught to children. Where onces main goal in footbal is to inflict as much pain as possible to the other person causing serious injuries as a result. Behaviors such as hurting other people should not be a skill influenced in children. Sure there are many qualities and skills that football teaches you, but I'm also sure that there's different ways in learning them. Soccer, Baseball, and Basketball all can teach valuable lessons without the physical or head trauma which is received in
