Wheelersburg 41 Portsmouth West 7 Last night at Ed Miller Stadium, in Wheelersburg, Ohio the Southern Ohio Conference 2 title was on the line in a battle that pitted two undefeated teams. Portsmouth West came in 9-0 as did the home team Wheelersburg Pirates. I had posted on Southeasternohiopreps.com that I thought this would be a three to four touchdown win for the Pirates. A friend from West said he thought a 15 point win for the Pirates. When all was said and done neither of us came close to the final, because the Pirates exploded for a thirty four point win. West would start their opening drive at their own 25-yard-line. On the first play from the line of …show more content…
Then with 22.9 seconds left Salyers again dropped back to pass, this time he looked down field and threw a beautiful looking pass to a wide opened Tanner Holden, who galloped into the end zone. The pass play covered 41-yards. The point after by one of the best kickers in the state, Jalen Miller locked this one up a seven apiece.Holden was able to break a diving tackle attempt by Cole Staggs to get into the end Zone. On the ensuing kickoff Cole Staggs fielded the ball at his own 1-yard line and he broke several tackles before he was stopped by Evan Horsley, at the Pirates 30-yard line, with just :11 seconds to play in the exciting opening quarter. West had all of the momentum back on that side with the big return. On the first play of the drive Bradford scrambled around looking for anyone to get opened and when that did not happen, he tried to run but was taken down hard by Jeremy Cooper and C.J. Hall. Cooper won't have the stats to show it, but he had one heck of a first half. Just :20 seconds into the 2nd quarter West attempted a reverse like play to Cody Staggs, that was stuffed by Cole Lowery for no gain. The Pirates defense swarms to the ball as well as any defense that I have watched this season. The first three plays of the drive netted just one-yard. On fourth down Bradford threw a sideline pass to L.T. Maynard, who almost made a great catch
Against a Carl Eller, Jim Marshall, Paul Krause, Alan Page, and Jeff Seimon led mean and feisty Vikings’ defense, Staubach and the Cowboys needed 85 yards to reach the endzone with just 1:50 left to play. Facing fourth and 17, a long distance passing down from their own 33 yard line, Staubach connected with Preston Pearson, who made a phenomenal catch to move the chains and keep the drive alive at midfield, leaving the Cowboys with 37 seconds to score. On the second play, after an incomplete pass, the Cowboys continued to operate of the
After the Eagles' offense scored on the opening possession, it was time for the defense to flex their muscles. The defense forced the Browns' offense into back to back 3 and outs, giving the ball back to Wentz and the offense.
As time ticked away in the fourth quarter, the Denver Broncos started working on running the clock down. They ran the ball as much as they could then would punt the ball down the field and count on the Broncos defense to keep Cam Newton from getting the Panther offense going. And it worked. Von Miller, who was so big for Denver’s defense in the first half, caused Newton to fumble and the Broncos recovered the ball on the four yard line.
It was the flea flicker. Eagles quarterback Nick Foles handed the ball off to Clement who took a couple of steps and then pitched it back to Foles who threw a 41-yard scoring strike to Smith.
Newark Catholic won the toss and as they seem to do all the time, elected to take the ball. On the drive the Green Wave needed just six plays to go fifty-two-yards, to make this a,7-0 game. The drive ended when speedster Cameron Lewis going the final ten-yards. The point after kick by on again off again by senior kicker,Nathan Liesen
The game started out with Brady Carpenter moving the ball 18-yards on the games first play from scriommage, but he would be stripped by a defender and the ball was pounced on by,Sam Bending of Newark Catholic.
Besides two long offensive plays, the defense shut down the offense, allowing only three touchdowns. One of those came from former Mountaineer quarterback Geno Smith to Shelton Gibson.
The Game was something that was annual and everyone was excited for it; but when it reached the end of the game everything changed. Tom Richard, a newspaper reporter, stated “Wilson made a leaping catch and landed safely in the end-zone capping an improbable come from behind win for the Tigers” (Doc 1). This
On second and goal, they tried hitting their running back in the flats on the right side of the field. Closing in with great pursuit, Dawson made an excellent open field tackle and forced a loss of one yard.
Crabbers came out hot! Jalen Ray put his athleticism on display, while Marquis Godwin hit a clean step back jumper. Hampton went on a quick 6-0 run. Commodores were staying aggressive riding behind their stars Chase Coleman and Bryan Phillips. Crabbers took a 19-9 lead to end the first quarter. This game was shaping out to be a big one for Godwin as it did not see if he had plans on missing any shots.
Postma completed a 12 yd pass to Chance Allen, and the second time the same duo did not complete the pass and turned the ball over on downs on the Memphis 5 yard line. However, Memphis QB Paxton Lynch threw an interception to give the ball back to Houston, who scored another touchdown on seven plays on 2 minutes and 19 seconds. The defense came out ready to stop the Memphis offense and caused a three and out. That lead to Houston once again marching down the field to score on a 7 yd run by QB Kyle Postma to tie the game at 34 all and the extra point gave Houston the lead
The Bison offense was back at it again with 6:46 left on the clock. Malcolm would show some big time speed and go 33-yards for a score.Martin would convert a two point run to
A kick from Anderson started the game, not long after, QB Lucas Smith runs a 18yd touchdown, starting the game out with a 7-0 Turpin lead. The Redskins’ Kyle Blaha soon persevered through the unforgiving Turpin defense and ran a 2 yd touchdown, evening out the score out 7-7. “Our offense and defense did well, but there’s always room for improvement.” Coach Kenter explained after Turpin gave up 21 points in the first half. “But I think this was one of better games of the entire season, the team really brought it.” Second quarter brought both the Spartans and Redskins 2 new touchdowns each and an exciting 65 yard pass Turpin touchdown, Smith to Will Hausfeld. Halftime stopped the intense game at a suspenseful score of 21-21.
With 8 seconds remaining, Senior Bobby Jarosz's 26th carry of the game on a 3rd and goal from just outside the one sealed a 26-21 homecoming game victory for the Knights with a one yard touchdown.
For the most part of the first 3 quarters, it was all Pittsburgh with a 20-7 lead over Arizona. To end the first half James Harrison had a 100 yard pick six. Arizona stormed back in the 4 quarter to take the lead after Fitzgerald’s 64 yard touchdown sprint. 2:30 was left in the game and Big Ben lead his team to win the game with an unreal throw and catch.
