Football and soccer are two unique sports in their own ways and are loved by many. Football is mainly played and watched in the United States. Soccer is played and viewed throughout the whole world. Both sports require great skill and knowledge to be able to play and understand the sport. Although each sport is unique* both football and soccer are similar and different in many ways.
Both football and soccer allow only a certain amount of players on the field at one time. They each allow two teams to have eleven players on the field. This means that only twenty-two players can be allowed on the field. Twenty-two players ensures that the game runs smoothly and efficiently* while not allowing too many players on the field. However* in football* there can be three sets of eleven players on the field at different times. This means that eleven players can be on offense* eleven players can be on defense* or eleven players can be on special teams throughout the game. On the contrary* in soccer* eleven players work to perform both offense and defense during the game.

Referees make sure that no rules and regulations are violated while each team is playing. However* in a professional soccer match* four referees are employed to facilitate the game. In contrast* seven referees are used to manage a professional football game. There are more referees in a football game because there are more assignments and factors that can change how they game operates. For example* in a football game* many referees are required to watch for offsides, look for holding penalties, determine first downs, find illegal hits, and more. In soccer* referees only need to look for offsides, possession changes, and
Athletes who play football share the same goal as athletes who play soccer: score the most goals to win the game. In football, there are two areas on opposite sides of the field where one can score points by bringing the football over the goal line. Soccer shares this same concept by having two nets on opposite sides of the field where one can score a point by kicking the soccer ball into the net. Also, both sports share the concept of having an offense and defense, and both sports each have eleven players on a team on the field at a time. These are only few of many similarities between these two sports, but in actuality, they are significantly different. The rules, rituals, and concepts of both sports distinguish
In soccer there are many rules that have changed. Back in the 1700's the playing field was shaped like a square. There were only four major markings on the field. They were the touchlines, goal lines, halfway line, and the eighteen-yard lines. When the Football Association (FA) was created in 1863, the first uniform rules were made. FIFA now requires that soccer be played on a rectangular field between one hundred and one hundred-thirty yards long and between fifty and one hundred yards wide. For international matches the field should be between one hundred- ten and one hundred-twenty yards long and between seventy and eighty yards wide. There are two goals, one placed at each end of the field. They are eight feet tall, eight yards across, and six feet deep. The lines that mark the sides of the field are called touchlines; those that mark the two ends of the field are called goal lines. Also there are five other distinctive lines. They are the halfway lines, the goal areas, the penalty areas, the corner marks, and the center circle.
Though some people consider football and soccer as the same sports, they are actually played quite different from each other. There are a lot of similarities and difference between them in reference of the rules, playing combination,
They are to make sure the game is being played fairly as well as clean. Referees call violations throughout the game such as penalties. They have to make sure they are paying attention carefully, seeing that they have to make sure the player with possession of the ball running is
Softball and soccer. Are they different or are they similar in ways that no one ever really sees. Softball, a game where one throws a twelve inch neon yellow ball to a batter to hit. Each batter has three strikes to hit the ball. The batter can either get hit, walked, hit the ball, or strikeout. While the pitcher is pitching there are eight other players on the field working as one to get the batter out, whether they are cheering on the pitcher or getting the ground out to first base. Although, one may think that batting is all it takes to win a game you also must have defense. Soccer. The coin toss with the captains is how it all begins. The toss determines who gets the ball first and who will get the side of their choice. When those things
Dexter’s Pub, in Dexter, is no doubt so named for being a favorite dining destination for locals and visitors in-the-know for its modern take on elevated pub grub, served in a relaxed and friendly setting. Some of Dexter’s Pub’s specialty entrée dishes include the Pub’s famous baby back ribs served bare or slathered in barbecue sauce, the Pub special pizza topped with sausage, pepperoni, ham, veggies and secret sauce and the seafood mac and cheese with crabmeat, shrimp and a breadcrumb topping.
The cartoon leaves the reader sombre. It is a heavy issue for writer to lift into view, one with little humorous potential. Thus the writer relies on shock value, the incompatibility between the writing and the speech, rather than comedy to deconstruct the issue and emphasize the message. The piece left me with a startled "Oh" on the tip of my tongue when I first saw the cartoon, and after the shock had passed, it left me with an overwhelming feeling of disgust. Of course, I already had my preconceived notions on the issue, I already reviled the organization depicted in the satire, so for me it was almost a reminder rather than a realization. However, I believe on a pair of fresh eyes it would still have the same general effect on any reader
The most disputed issues that a soccer fan will differentiate between soccer and American football is that soccer is played mainly by kicking the ball and it is only allowed to the goalkeeper to use his hands or if the ball goes out of bounds and requires what is called a throw in. In contrary, American football is played by throwing the ball and is only kicked when a field goal is required or in their term return punts. In soccer, kicking the ball to the other team is rarely or better yet, done on purpose. On the other hand, in football, that player is removed and the game is continued in whatever direction it has gone before. The interesting part that also tells the difference between them is physical. It was a compulsory for American football to have big and powerful player rather than skillful, so they can tackle bigger opponents with roughness without getting so much damage. It goes completely opposite with soccer, the players in this sport industry are average with the standard of a normal person, but with the skill of handling the ball they can demonstrate cross-over to eliminate the

In soccer, the referee may let play continue and not call a foul if he thinks that stopping play would give an advantage to the team making the foul. The referee can also give a red and yellow card. If the players does a little foul to another player, the referee is only going to give you a yellow card. But if you do a really bad foul, like slide tackling from behind, he’s going to give you a red card, if you get a red card in a game, you have to get off the field and your team only has 10 players for the rest of the game. The game ends if a team does 5 red cards. If you get two yellow cards in one game, you have a red

Football and soccer have never been really compared before, probably because alot of people think they dont have many similarities. But they actually have alot more in common that people think they do. Having played both sports myself i can tell you that they are very different in varius ways, but also very alike. It depends in what aspects you look at it that you can see differences or similarites. Off field soccer and football share different backgrounds. On field comparisons are never talked about but they actually have somre similarities. Yes football is more of a contact sport, and soccer more of a technique sport. But football does have technique as well, and soccer contact.
