Personal challenge is something that everyone has to face at least once in their lifetime. I personally believe that personal challenges are a way to motivate a person to do better by achieving them. Overcoming personal challenges gives people a sense of feeling that if they can overcome their challenges then they can do anything. Everyone has gone through personal challenges, Kayla Montgomery, a girl from an article that I have read, has gone through her personal challenge and she is still going through it to this day. My mother went through her challenges and still going through one. I've also went through some personal challenges myself.
In the article For Runner With M.S., No Pain While Racing, No Feeling at the Finish, they talk about
Throughout the past couple of months my fellow peers and I have been studying the topic ‘challenge’ and how it affects our lives and people around us. In our everyday lives we are confronting challenges, some are as small as walking up a few steps, and some are larger and more challenging that could be life or death circumstances.
In the article “Born to Run” by Adam Summers, who is an assistant professor of bioengineering and ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of California, Irvine, the author states that throughout time bipedalism has evolved to benefit endurance running. Summers also claims that bipedalism modern humans have differs from the one our early ancestors had. The author relies on the research by Dennis M. Bramble and Daniel E. Lieberman that have improved the understanding of human bipedalism and its evolution. According to Summers, the corrections made by Bramble and Lieberman’s research helped to draw a more accurate picture of an early human.
Runner by Carl Deuker is a book written to describe the life of a boy named Chance Taylor and his dad. Chance is close to starvation and homelessness. He worries about paying the bills, having enough food to eat, and keeping his home, a small boat named the Tiny Dancer. While out on his usual run around the marina and beach, a man asks him if he would like a job. The man says all he has to do is run. Chance will have to pick up a package along the beach each day. The package will be hidden in the recesses of a rock buried at the foot of a maple tree. He then has to leave it in a locker. The man says the job pays a lot of money. Even though he suspects that he is smuggling drugs, he always completes the job and now has extra money in his pocket to spend at the café
The challenges I go through on a daily basis is bulling from other students, being called names by my brother, myself not thinking positively, me not staying calm in situations, etc. The way I find strength to help me through my challenges is my mostly my parents, and my parents are, my mom Sue, and my dad
Have you ever been forced to pick between right and wrong? Sometimes we are forced to choose between two hard choices, despite the consequences. In the book “Runner” by Carl Deuker, a boy named Chance is faced with a rough life, where his father drinks and his mother is no longer present. He lives on a boat with his father, in Seattle. Soon he is faced to with a offer to run packages around for men he doesn’t know, but get paid in the process. His small family needs the money, but who knows what is in those packages? He takes the opportunity for the money and goes through many adventures throughout this book, such as meeting a girl named Melissa, who lives the opposite life of his, privileged and nice.
Challenges are something everyone needs to face in life. Everyone will encounter challenges, but for those who push through, they will overcome them faster. To push past the challenges that life presents, you may need to learn new things and grow. As in the book Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey, challenges can help you grow. The main characters, Charlie, Jasper, and Jeffery, all face challenges that they must overcome to grow.
Jealousy is the key factor that pushes us to do better or it can overpower our thinking abilities because we want to be the best, so we don’t think about how it can affect the people around us. This is exactly what happens in the story, “MVP,” by Clare Mishica. Derek wants to be the most valuable player on his basketball team instead of Cole so much that he forgets to be a team player. When Cole gets hurt, Derek realizes how much more important the trophy and being a part of the team is than getting MVP. Teamwork is always more efficient than trying to achieve something individually because a person can do very little alone, but together we can accomplish a lot. The saying, “Two heads are better than one,” goes along with this perfectly.
There are many people who went through challenges like these three people who have been through a lot like Ernesto Galarza, Farah Ahmedi, and Annie Johnson. These three people have been through a lot of challenges. The challenge that Ernesto had faced was that had gone to a new school and had to learn english and Farah Ahmedi had to cross the Pakistan border then Annie Johnson had to raise her own children by herself. However, all three shared an ability to accomplish to overcome their challenges to accomplish their goals.
Challenge means ‘A task or situation that tests someone's abilities’ (Google Dictionary) and David Suzuki has experienced such tests many times in his life. David was born in Vancouver on the 24th of March 1936. He is a third generation Canadian. His grandparents were from Japan and his many life challenges were due to his nationality because of the attack in Pearl Harbour brought upon by Japan. Because of David’s nationality, he, his parents and his three sisters were taken to an internment camp where is troubles began. But despite all of his troubles David went on to become the “greatest living Canadian” (National Review of Medicine, 2008).
A lot of people set a challenge to improve. By setting a challenge, individuals work hard, asking for help and advice from experienced advisors. Challenges motivate people and keep them working hard. The most significant challenge I have faced was getting a full scholarship into the private school, American Heritage High School in Plantation. This challenge was crucial for me because I came to United States in the middle of sixth grade. I went to Falcon Cove Middle School, and the school placed me in regular classes within the ESOL program. The ESOL program is a program designed for foreign students who do not speak English well. I got out of the program once I passed the placement test to the Cambridge program. In middle school, I won a variety
The most significant challenge I have faced was when I was growing up was reading. Reading is one of the most important things it was hard for me to say some words that I thought I was never gonna learn to read ever even if they were just small words or big words I struggle so much while growing up. When I was
“Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.” What the Roman poet Horace was saying was that when there is an obstacle in our way, our true colors will radiate. I could not agree more. When we as human beings feel passionate about achieving a goal, we may learn something new of ourselves, maybe a new trait that we did not know we possessed, when we reach new heights we did not know we could push ourselves towards. Challenges are similar to tests. Challenges are faced every day, but how we respond to them determines how strong we really are. Prime examples are superheroes and students that move dramatically.
ANother personal challenge I am faced with is being nosy , I am bad at knowing where to draw the line sometimes. Lastly another personal challenge I am faced with is being shy , I am kind of non -sociable sometimes. I am faced with a lot of personal challenges but I am learning to not have any .
It’s the challenge itself that people learn from. There isn’t any point to making things a challenge for no good reason so it’s about taking on the right challenges and calculating risks to a point that justifies them when compared to the challenge that is faced to accomplish them. Truth be told, it was a challenged for me to take that risk and slide down the tube tunnel and I did not regret doing so because I know at that point thats what I wanted. If it hadn't been for that challenge, I wouldn't be able to see what I am capable of doing.
‘It is when I struggle that I strengthen. It is when challenged to my core that I learn the depth of who I am.’ I kept on repeating this to myself waiting for my campus interview in the final year. Sitting there with fervor, I entered the room with utmost confidence. The whole interview was not just technical but challenged my grit, determination and presence of mind. And after coming out of the interview, I just knew I had grabbed the opportunity. That day taught me; challenges can make you or break you; it all depends on you.
