Throughout my entire high school career, I have always challenged myself and put forth my best effort. Now, I am ready for the next step and to further my education. At Indiana University, I plan on pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology. With my biology degree, I would also like to double major or minor in Forensic and Investigative Sciences. After I obtain my degree, I want to go to medical school and become a forensic pathologist. I have always planned to do something in both the medical and investigative criminal field. I have always had a passion for criminal investigation and medicine, so being a forensic pathologist would give me insight into both worlds. I also am interested in the law field, and forensic pathologists often testify
Forensics also fit in my standards since I’m intelligent, passionate about biological science, and quite sociable which allows me to work well with others, Through my analytical study of the show Bones, which revolves around the life of forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs, and this
The career that I researched was forensic pathology. The job of a pathologist is to determine a person’s cause of death by examining tissues and fluids from the body. A forensic pathologist does this as well, but they are trained to examine people who died unexpectedly or violently and to recognize other things that a regular pathologist might not, such as recognizing something as intentional rather than accidental. They have to determine who the person is, the time of death, the manner of death, and if it was accidental, the instruments which caused the death.
When i grow older an ideal career would be a Forensic Technicians. Forensic Technician aids criminal investigations by collecting and analyzing evidence. Many technicians specialize in either CSI (crime scene investigation) or laboratory analysis. Most forensic science technicians will devote lot of time in their careers writing reports running tests and working at crime scenes. It is important for today's youth to to understand the education and training, requirements, skills,or talents needed to succeed in your career in life to make the decision of what you want to be in your life.
A Forensic Pathologist studies the cause of death of human remains. To become a forensic pathologist it takes time and hard work. The average time at school is thirteen to eighteen years. The average salary is 100k- 500k. At school they have to study anatomy, but also serology and toxicology.
As a final point, being a CSI is the career for me because working in the law department is a dream of mine and it’s something I want to accomplish. For this career I will work very hard to become a CSI by getting a bachelor's degree in forensic science. From all the information I researched now I know what I will need to do to be able to become the investigator I want to be. From this researched I learned what it is that a criminal investigator does it made me understand more about what the career I want is all about and what is required to be professional for this career. This research will help me later when I am in college and working for this major because I know more information about this career that I will need to do to become an investigator.
DNA analysis involves a number of tests and instrumentation, from PCR amplification, SDS PAGE analysis, DNA purification, fluorescent DNA analysis, to Y-Chromosome analysis (to name a few). Forensic scientists, not only DNA analysts, are also often called upon to appear in court as expert witnesses to verify and explain findings. Therefore, in order to perform this job well, I must have intimate knowledge of laboratory procedures and well as court-room proceedings. To work as a forensic DNA analyst, a Bachelor’s degree in a physical or life science, preferably Biology, is required. I have already begun this portion of my plan, as I am currently majoring in Biology with a cellular and molecular concentration and a minor in Chemistry. After obtaining
After graduating high school, I was accepted to Alabama State University and decided to study Biology. I figured that this area would help me study living organisms, life processes and understanding the basic life processes that required different medical provisions. I believed that I would eventually find out if I wanted to studying medicine or counsel people. On May 7, 2011, I graduated from Alabama State University with my Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Then I volunteered at Jamaica Hospital emergency room alongside the medical providers and interact with the families of those who are medically
Since I can remember I always wanted to work in the medical field. I started of wanting to become a Pediatrician, sort after that I wanted to become a Neurosurgeon, then a Forensic Anthropologist which then sparked my interest in Forensic Pathology soon after. After the idea of becoming a Forensic Pathologist circled my mind I couldn't stop questioning myself what steps I had to take in order to follow this career path. That's when I found out that I had to attend Medical School in order to follow this career. There are so many paths you can take in order to go to Medical School, for instance you can major in Pre-Med, Biomedical, Biology, Physics, Forensic Science, and so on. That's when I discovered Forensic Science as a major, and my love
When I was in middle school I decided that I wanted to be a pathologist. I was fascinated with the human body and would always watch shows on TLC that pertained to the human body such as the operation. I loved to read murder mystery books and any type of books that had a pathologist or city coroner in them. As I got into high school I started to research college criminal justice programs that had a body farm. The more research I did, I realized that majoring in criminal justice would be the easy part.
An autopsy is an examination of the body after death. It usually consists of an external and an internal examination of the body. The external examination also documents identifying features such as scars, tattoos or other markings which may assist in the identification of the body. The internal examination looks at the internal organs to document any natural disease processes and/or injury .Its purpose is to learn the truth about the persons health during life and how the person really died, These situations include, violent deaths such as homicides, accidents, and suicides. Other categories are suspicious deaths, sudden and expected deaths, deaths in children and infants, prisoners, persons under the care of an institution,
I would be more interested in participating and working in forensic pathology. I would really enjoy doing autopsies and finding out time of death and the cause of death of people. I would enjoy working with blood and tissue samples, and I
Psychology has always had a direct impact on my life for many years for example, I myself have had counselling sessions for anxiety. Experiencing this has given me a desire to work with people in understanding their behaviour and how their minds work to be able to empower individuals to lead better lives. My own personal experience with anxiety has also intrigued me into thinking why I think the way I do and what can be put into action to improve my circumstances.
So, after deciding that I wanted to reach out and help others I elected to become a forensic pathologist. I realized that choosing this career would mean that not only could I help myself; I could help others. I hope that you select me for the Norval Waugh scholarship so that my goals of learning and benefiting my community are one step closer to
After graduation in May, I will be attending Ohio Northern University in the fall of 2016, to pursue a bachelor’s degree in forensic biology, earning a major in forensic science, biology, and a minor in chemistry. After graduation from Ohio Northern University, I hope to be able to attend the University of Toledo for graduate school, to gain my master’s degree in biology. Also after graduating from Ohio Northern University in 2020 I hope to find a job as a forensic scientist, and after graduating from graduate school I hope to find a career with the Federal Bureau of Intelligence as working as a forensic
My purpose for graduate study is two-fold: a) to advance my present career in forensic toxicology and b) to further my knowledge in the forensic discipline. Currently, as a forensic toxicologist at the Nassau County Medical Examiner, I have been exposed to nearly all facets of post-mortem and human performance forensic toxicology. Every single day is an intellectual challenge, whether it involves obtaining and interpreting a peculiar set of results, or troubleshooting one of the many instruments we use, I go into work every day knowing that I am going to learn something new about my field. Forensic Toxicology combines what I have always loved about science and medicine with constant intellectual stimulation and a burning desire to answer the
